Taking into account all the monitor problems with the R70 (mine is a SENS R70, but I'm assuming they're the same) - I'm getting the same problem now.... directly 1 month after my warranty expired. ***. :(

This is on the front side

Taking into account John Ratsey's post about getting the RAM fixed in place - I looked and checked, to see that they are in fact in place

I think I should look at the monitor cables and see if they're connected properly or not - but I don't know how to?

Also, I often get BSODed saying that I have a hardware error.

What is the problem anyways? The nvidia chipset? My driver? The monitor connection cables?

    Thanks in advance!

Can you please give some more explanation of the problem? It's not clear from the photos.

Are you seeing problems like those described here?

    Yes, thanks for the reply!

    I get either

    1) No screen (but the backlight is definitely on)
    2) Yes screen but everything when booting is messed up (lines everywhere, color inappropriately placed)
    3) Yes screen, but the monitor will turn off at about 30 minutes~ of use. Even when I use an external monitor this happens. I figured that's why it can't be the connector lines now, it has to be something with my video/gfx card or my drivers..?

To test the corrupted driver possibility, try a (Ubuntu) Linux live CD. That should work OK with the hardware without touching the hard disk.

If Linux also has similar display problems then suspicion must fall on the GPU. It's nVidia, I presume. This would be the first instance of a problem with an nVidia GPU in a Samsung notebook that I've read about, but all that generation of the nVidia GPUs are vulnerable to deterioration as a result of temperature fluctuations.

Companies such as Dell and HP are giving an extra year of warranty on the GPUs because of this problem. You will have to try to squeeze something out of Samsung (who should then pass the cost back to nVidia who set aside US$200M on account of this problem).

Problem is - even the BIOS won't show up.

But I will try the solution - how likely do you think things will go if I don't have a receipt with me (ugh)? I left it where I bought it, long story short. I bought the SENS R70 in SKorea and I live in the US so I'm having to call this international samsung-us department tomorrow since that is when they open.

That's a difficult situation. I hope you get through to a sympathetic person.

Agh - I guess there's no other way helping it?

Do you know if the general private computer fixing people can fix GPUs? (or replace)

After searching R70, I find I am not the only unlucky one with the this problem. I do think samsung should take responsibility for this issue since other company like DELL already done something for their customers. http://www.trustedreviews.com/noteb...l-Extends-Warranty-For-nVidia-GPU-Failures/p1

what I hope is if any samsung staff seen all these post about the GPU problems, please try to find some possible way to help us change the GPU wihout charge us like 200 GBP.
