Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has any prior knowledge of a good and trustworthy reseller for Samsung parts, particularly laptop parts of course. I'm wondering because I want to replace the top palmrest portion of my Series 7 Chronos np780z5e-S02ca laptop since its causing my hinge to creak. Any information is very much appreciated!

Hi John, have you had any experiences with them? I have noticed that they are an "authroized reseller" but I hope its true. Thanks for the quick reply btw.

I haven't used them to buy anything but others have. For me, the main advantage of the site is the good database of parts.

I see you are in Canada. Are you wanting a US keyboard or a Canadian bilingual keyboard? If the latter then you will have to track down a Canadian Samsung parts source. This page might help.

So if I have the Canadian model with originally the Canadian Keyboard, slapping on a US model layout wouldn't work properly?

The US keyboard top housing will work fine (and, from what I've read here, many Canadians don't want the bilingual keyboard that Samsung puts on the Canadian versions).

That's great! Although, how would you know for sure? Were there ever any users attempting to replace the top cover before me? Apart from my bad creaking hinge, that's one of the other reasons why I want to buy the part myself instead of letting Samsung repairing it for me. I hate the bilingual keyboard as well :p.

I can't remember if anyone has done the swap. I work on the principle that the top cover is an inter-changeable part, like keyboards used to be in the days when they were separate units.

Think of the extra manufacturing and logistical headaches that Samsung would make for themselves if different top unit housings required other components to also be different.

That's a very sound point indeed. The thing is, I have a warranty still left, but I don't trust that Samsung would know what to replace, so I would rather do it myself.
