It also says 15.0" screen (not 15.6").

Perfect would be, if it had an Ivy Bridge Cpu and a working Wlan Inside.

Hey guys does anybody know if this will be 15.6" like the Series 7 or 15" as I'm probably going to buy the Quad core series 7 Chronos but i really want to be able to have the option of putting that incredible looking new IPS dispaly in there if I can! Anyone know for sure, Thanks guys

I've been reviewing the pictures and videos. One thing is for sure, there are a couple of different interior finishes. In several of the CES videos of the booth units, the 15" clearly has a silver finish. In other pictures and videos, the unit interior is a black finish. Some of those units may be pre-production and not finished the same way production will be. I really don't know.

The press shots of the 13" have an interior finish that looks a dark gray.

Can't remember which site I read it, but the two designs are for different markets - the US will get one, and everyone else the other.

Has anyone seen a size comparison between 13 vs 15? or 15 inch vs any other computers like MBA? I am debating between 13 vs 15. I prefer a size of 13 but, I am willing to go for bigger size for little bit of extra battery life. Samsung claimed 7 hours for old 13 inch, which ended up with around 5 hour and the new one (pre-production model) seems to do worse. I figured that 15 inch will have solid 7 hours since Samsung says upto 10hrs. :)

I haven't seen specifications published. Only the thickness measurement seems to be readily apparent. And of the hands on reviews, I haven't seen anyone review the 15" and stack the 13" or MacBook Air on top of it.

Looks bigger than the 13" MacBook Air but not hugely so.

The reason why Series 5 will not get the 900p screen would be because it is positioned below the Series 9.

I saw one review (non-English) in which a guy put MBA 13 inch on the top of series 9 15 inch. He just tried to show the difference on the thickness so a view was so angled and I couldn't tell the size difference.

about 1:15 mark. I was wondering whether somebody found something better than this.

I'd say looking at that video it looks like the 15" Sammy is about an inch wider and roughly .5" deeper than the 13" MacBook Air used in the video. Looks good to me. Pretty amazing actually.

Wow. The 15" Series 9 is only slightly larger than the 13.3" MBA!

    I took a screen-shot... check it out:

Wow, if the battery life is good and with viewing angles and color to my liking, that picture I think pretty much sold me. Just be sure it has an SD card slot right? I wonder how much smaller the 13.3in model will be. I know I saw the 12.5in Samsung Series 3 in store and to my eyes it seemed about the same size as your typical 11.6in machine.

The 15" supposedly gets up to 10 hours of battery life. And yes, it's got an SD slot.

I'll believe 10 hours when I see it with my own eyes. I would be happy with 5-6 but I know a lot of managers and consultants that would love 7-8. People will be doing back flips for 10.

Wow if that 10 hours is really true I am impressed. Not sure how close Samsung is with their battery claims, but I hope they are like Sony(well at least on the TT I was able to match and even on an occasion or two exceed the stated numbers by Sony).

Exactly 2,500 posts for Coldmack! :)

I just meant that it's "rated" for 10 hours (or so I read). We'll see what it actually gets. But if it even gets close to that number it will be great.

Considering claimed vs real life battery life of all the laptops (or even any portable electronics) I have ever used, it should be at least 7 hours in real life. This is actually the biggest reason I am looking for this.

7 would still be stellar in my book. Especially for a machine that looks great, appears to have a fabulous screen, etc.

    Can't wait to get mine.

    Come on Samsung, ship already!

Of course. I would never complain for 7h. 13 inch is around 5 hours in real life and it is little short for me. I am willing to carry an extra pound for guaranteed 7 hours. Then I don't have to take an adapter with 15 inch. So I will be carrying similar weight at the end.

I'm definitely considering this sexy little thing in lieu of a traditional laptop.
I'm concerned about the lower power though. Who here has experience with Ultrabooks? I'm concerned with full-screen hd video. Is that smooth or does it stutter? How about Google earth or something with similar graphics? I don't play games so I'm not concerned with that type of performance. Thanks!

    Expended?

No offense to Catherine West but the vast majority of the CES drive by reviewers have been nothing but complimentary. Not only that, but if this young lady wanted to make a point, she should have done it on camera WITH THE 15" MACHINE instead of the 13".

In other words, withhold judgement until they ship production models and real reviews take place.

This is valid for all Samsung's notebook sites in the western wrld (no idea about Asian ones). I haven't seen one that is nearly up to date...at least the support pages are ok, but the marketing ones lag seriously.

This sounded like an Apple fan waiting for the next CEO press conference...let's not go over the top. Yes, it's going to be great laptop, but it won't change anyone's life, wow

Btw, why don't you all wait 2 months for an Ivy Bridge version is beyond me...you've got to be mad to buy a laptop just before a major processor update launch... at the very least SB prices should drop.

At the very least you get a much better graphics card, which should be enough for anyone to wait a couple of months for the update :) If you are buying integrated graphics right now, it makes a lot of sense to wait for IB as this is going to be the biggest update in the platform. If you are looking at a proper laptop with Nvidia/ATI then it won't matter so much as the IB is not that much better than SB in terms of performance.

But we don't all play games on our computers. The graphics card is simply not as important for those of us that don't play games.

Ivy Bridge also needs less Power --> longer Batterylife.

I'm a little Disapointed that the Series 9 comes without it.

That and Thouderbold and it would be the perfect Machine!

Has Samsung said that they will rush IB into these as soon as it's available? Or might they wait until the next iteration of the S9?

Thwey could do a 2 step upgrade: First put Ivy Bridge CPUs on the existing board and just upgrade the BIOS and later bring out an update which includes the new chipset. All should become clear over the next 6 months.

I was under the impression that IBs work on the same chipset initially, so what you do is just take out the SB and slot the IB? Or is my memory going bad...can't be bothered to check now :D

That's the theory as I understand it (provided your CPU isn't soldered ) but a BIOS upgrade is also required.

I can also see 3 USB ports (two would be disappointing on a 15" machine). The front port on the left side (next to the audio socket) has the network icon but it is a micro port that would need an adaptor.
