Wow, that will change alot of people's opinions on this laptop.

Also, there was a problem with your previous attachment.

Possibly it might say in Device Manager. Otherwise would need to check label or form factor inside - don't worry if you weren't planning to open it up...

Thanks, looks like the same m.2 drives found in the Vaio Pro. May take a while before m.2 drives are available to the public for dyi upgrades. Best bet probably the Crucial M500.

Hi everyone. I know I'm new here, but I've been lurking for quite a while, ever since my interest in the AB9+ started (you're a high rank on Google searches, particularly when filtered by recent dates).

I preordered the AB9+ from Amazon on its first available preorder date (August 18) for $1,224.59. With Prime shipping, I was given the arrival date of the 5th and then the 12th, and got increasingly worried as the order failed to ship today. Posts on this forum didn't make me feel any better, as no one posted that theirs shipped. So, I chatted with Amazon support.

I'm rapidly fluctuating between depressed and livid, but I thought I owed you guys an update on my experience with Amazon.

Amazon's shipping estimates are well known to dramatically change at any instance. Don't put too much weight into that response.

Wait as long as you are comfortable, then, at your breaking point cancel it and just pick one up at MSRP.

I took some unboxing pictures and scale pictures next to a gen 1 ipad and galaxy note 2, along with some pictures of the screen. Time to test out the micro hdmi port to my seiki 4k monitor. 4k youtube trailers playback perfectly smooth on the 3200x1800 screen, also used 4kdownloader and tested out a few 4k files local as well. I think the haswell processors accelerate it as cpu usage is between 4-20% when playing back 4k.

4k playback works over a 15ft micro hdmi to hdmi cable I ordered off monoprice last week. I set it to external monitor and 3840x2160@30hz came up right away, then added the laptop display back, can run both at once...

Great to hear that Samsung finally broke out of the old 1080p micro-HDMI limitation of previous models.

I think it was around 70gb free out of the box, windows update dropped it down to 68 or so. I might get a 128gb sdxc card at some point if I really need more space but don't feel like spending a lot on a bigger ssd.

yeah, overall very happy with it, my last laptop couldn't handle playback of gopro black edition 2.7k or 1080p60 files, I haven't tested it yet but doesn't look like that will be a problem with haswell.

Thanks for the pics, kitejumping. It's crazy to see all those open windows on a 13.3" screen. It's like you just took a pic of a 30" hi-res monitor or something. LOL

You have a point, but it is still disheartening to see my order's delivery estimate being updated to October 8-16 now.

Does anyone know what chain brick & mortars plan to carry these?

I purchased mine brick and mortar from ABT in the Chicago area (abt.com), you can order online and when I talked to them this morning I think they still had 6 left after the preorders. I just tested it and sd cards do stick out enough to be annoying, I might just get a slim external usb 3.0 drive for when I travel and need more storage. Has anyone here ever tried out ntfs compression on an SSD?

Thank you for all of this info!! I'm in the Chicago area, too, so I'm debating trekking out to ABT to see if I can have it by Saturday. I'd hate to pay an extra $315, between list price and the ridiculous sales tax here, though.

Yeah, I got them to pricematch amazon when they had it online for 1199 in stock, came to about 100 extra in tax and got a free case for preorders. If you do decide to get one from them though you might want to call them up and have them hold one, since they sell them online they might sell out quick. I didn't notice any fan noise until I ran the windows performance benchmark and it did the CPU tests, then the fan spun up. Just browsing the internet the aluminum stays cool, it does warm up a bit if you do a lot of processor intensive stuff though. The 30hz limitation is with hdmi 1.4a, all 4k displays right now that use hdmi currently have that limitation. That adaptor is an interesting idea, never seen one of those before.

Thanks for the pictures, it's a really sleek device. Would you mind giving your impression about the display? At what % scaling are you running it and how good do programs like Office look on 200% scaling? Also is the glossy display bothering you or is it just smooth sailing? Thanks!

I did the same thing today. I asked samsung and they said the ram is soldered in.

One thing is, I placed the order this morning and got a call about an hour and a half ago from samsung to confirm my order. they called a phone number I didn't give them. The guy must have googled me or something.

Same boat - I ordered it on Amazon on Aug 18, was told Sept 5 delivery, then Sept 11 delivery. Yesterday it updated to Oct 8-15. I picked up a Book 9 NP900X3E i7/128g/4g for $999 on MS store and I might stick with that, but I was really eager for in the AB9+

I ordered mine on Aug 14th. I too have received no communication from Amazon what so ever. My open order still states estimated delivery Sept 12th. Truly frustrating on many fronts. Maybe getting a AB9+ wasn't meant to be....Tell you one thing if I don't receive it before the yoga 2 pro is released then I will definitely be getting one of those instead.

I am feeling similarly, but I have some reservations about Yoga 2... I owned the original Yoga and loved it - it was stolen, unfortunately. I did not even mind the issue with the keyboard being exposed in tablet mode. In fact, I tried all configurations but rarely used it outside of standard laptop mode. The case left a lot to be desired, however - the finish rubbed off very easily and made it look very cheap. I really like the aluminum case on the AB series.

Mine lasted 8 hours and 10 minutes today with wifi on the whole time, auto brightness enabled, and some virtual machines running for several hours (I don't think VM's are very friendly to battery life), it automatically went to sleep with 5% left.

. I have been following this thread for a month or two and it's incredible to me that after all this time and wait only one member of this thread actually has an AB9+.

I stopped into our local Best Buy today and casually asked their Samsung person when they might be in...she just laughed and said they expected them days ago and now has no idea. She did point out two open box 7's normally $999 on sale for $807.

Seriously?!! What the hell is Samsung doing? I will be the first to admit, I love Samsung products. Have mult Samsung TV's, bluray players washer/dryer etc. That said, I cannot think of a more irritating display of incompetent business practice in recent memory. Judging simply by the length of this thread, the AB9+ has (had?) the potential to be a massive commercial success. Unfortunately, Samsung cannot seem to get out of its own way and has been alienating customers throughout this entire process. It would be one thing if there had been a modicum of transparency or explanation on their part. I would be absolutely enraged if I was one of the unlucky few whom dropped their decidedly cheaper Amazon preorder for a presumed in stock full price AB9+ on Samsung.com just to find out after the fact that its back ordered there as well . I am truly baffled as to how Kitejumping got a hold of this fabled product but I am glad at least on of us has it. I don't know about you guys, but I don't routinely expect to be this frustrated and alienated by a company that I am trying to give 1200-1400 dollars to.

FWIW, CNET reporting from Intel conference in SanFrancisco that The ASUS UX301 (infinity) will be avail in November in the US starting at 1799 for i5 and 1999 for i7 no specs regarding RAM or SSD given. Also expect a premium for the upgraded 2560x1440 screen res (it's also avail in 1080p). Now that is some astronomical pricing complimentary cyborg bodyguard not withstanding
