Thanks
I would like to know that too.

I know that this is the Samsung AB9+ thread, but since there are several posts about the Y2P here I thought I would share this post I made on the Y2P thread. It really did make a difference on my computer and others are now reporting the same. I have not tried this out yet on my AB9+ but if I find a similar setting I'll try it there and post back.

I'm wondering if I can get a lower price using a student discount than ordering on Amazon. 8/256 Total came out to $1745.
Does Samsung do student discounts? Dell does, and I was looking at the XPS 15 which I may able to get for about $250 more. That would be double the RAM, dedicated graphics card, bigger screen. Decisions, decisions... Man, 1st world problems...

Microsoft store gives 10% off to students.
-
I don't think it is a 10% across the board discount but only on selected computers and laptops. The AB9+ is not one of them last time I checked.
-
So the Sammy site says it'll (i7/8/256) ship in 1-3 days, but I still have a range of Nov 6-11 with Amazon.
Anybody try ordering off the site to see if they'd actually get it sooner?
Sent from a different Galaxy using Tapatalk 2. -
Maybe that's true online but in the brick and mortar stores it is across the board. Now just find one that has it in stock.
-
I have my order on Amazon w/ a 10/23-11/8 delivery.
Even though I got the computer at a reduced rate ( $1645)... w/ tax and delivery it still comes in at the same price as the Samsung site ( $1799) and the Samsung gives a free leather pouch.
I also notice that my Amazon order still lists the OS as 8 while Samsung lists it at 8.1
I (was) seriously thinking of canceling my order from Amazon and going w/ Samsung.
Edit: Going through the order process w/ Samsung, sales tax wasn't added in until the final screen, making it almost $2000. I'll stick with Amazon -
You will still be charged tax from Samsung though maybe not delivery..depends on what option you choose. Oh..NM, didn't see what you added.

@maddin / others who are ordering K05DE
I got an email from amazon today that the delivery of the K05DE will be on 12. Dezember 2013 - 17. März 2014. Yeah. I also found the price on amazon.de over-the top but still ordered it (1799 EUR). They are also stupid enough to have i5 in the title but i7 in the description.
How's the order going with you? -
@matthias
Amazon sent a mail to me, too. The delivery date is set to 10. Dezember 2013 - 13. März 2014
Btw: amazon changed the details of the K05DE from i7 to i5. In the description it says i7. I'm getting worried now what they will actually ship. Considering samsungs website the K05 has an i7. -
Still no where to be seen in the UK, \/\/TF....
-
Do you have the URL for the Amazon listing? I'm only able to find one and that's from some random seller for $2108.
-
Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus or Asus Zenbook UX301LA w/ i7 4558u?
-
It was taken off the Amazon website a few days after it was first listed (late September). The item only reappeared a few days ago and is not being sold by Amazon ( as the original listing was) but by a 3rd party.
My guess is that as soon as Amazon gets inventory...they will start offering it again. -
Sounds good.
Is anyone else concerned that the i7 version will overheat? With such a small form factor, this concern was brought up to me by a friend of mine. -
It shouldn't. These are ulv i7, not your powerful i7.
-
Oh Oh..... Samsung has changed their shipping date on the i7/8GB/256 from 1-3 days to now read:
" Preorder - your order will ship in 2 - 3 weeks"
Doesn't sound too optimistic for those who have an Amazon ship date in the next week or so. -
Do you guys know if I'll be able to have a smooth experience with programs like Sony Vegas Pro and Photoshop on the i7/8GB version? Or will it be chugging?
-
You can have a smooth experience with Photoshop CS on the i5/4 gig. Haven't tried Vegas Pro.
-
Thanks. Good to know about Photoshop.

The NP940X3G is very well reviewed. However, I can only find the NP900X3F version available in the UK. This version does not have a touchscreen. The other major difference seems to be the chips:
NP940X3G has the Intel® Core i5 Processor 4200U (1.6GHz up to 2.6GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)
NP900X3F has the Intel® Core i5 Processor 3337U (1.80GHz up to 2.70GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) Intel HM75
Do you know if there is much difference in performance or weight between these laptops? Is the chip on the non-touchscreen version better than the 4200U? -
I changed my shipping speed and went back to: "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate" for my order of 28/9. -

The X3E / X3F have their own thread. They use Intel's Ivy Bridge platform whereas the NP940X3G uses the new Haswell platform.
You can compare the performance of the CPUs using notebookcheck's benchmarklist. At the moment the 4200U is at #124 and the 3337U is at #138. However, if you examine the detailed numbers you sill see that there's very little difference in the scores.
The X3G has a bigger battery and is heavier and probably runs a little longer on battery. It also has an insanely high resolution display that may cause problems with any software that doesn't handle display scaling properly. The problem for UK purchasers is that Samsung have been keeping limited choice and low stocks of the Series 9s although I see that there are still someof the X3Ds in the supply chain. That has the Sandy Bridge 2537U CPU (at #236 on notebookcheck's list but still fast enough for undemanding users - a speed difference of less than about 25% isn't obvious).

I'm not an Apple fan, but Sammy needs to take notes... 2 Macbooks announced on 10/22 and available to order and ship on 10/22..... Not 3 months later, and counting for the 8/256.

I'm actually thinking about canceling my i7 preorder, and getting a mbp...I'm so torn.
First world problems =/ -

I would note that detailed driver / software listings are now in SW Update for more X3G models with only Windows 8.1 (eg -K04US and -K05US). This is usually an indication that production is imminent or may have commenced.
The estimated availability dates might soon become much more certain once boxes reach the end of the production line.

I totally hate Apple. I would never have imagined to even consider a MacBook. But with all the problems with most new generation ultrabooks (buggy Sony VAIO Pro/Duo, limit of 4GB on AB9+ for now, YP2 and its broken yellow, buggy keyboard on the Acer) I am contemplating the new MBP 13" too. Can't believe I'd ever say that. Even Windows 8 seems to be a big problem for ultrabooks, with buggy recovery from sleep on most models, and random loss of touch on the touchscreens. The whole Windows PC industry really messed up on this one, from software to hardware makers.
-
Amazon.de has just put the AB9+ K05DE off their website.. Fortunately my order is not canceled yet.
-
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
Maybe they have more than enough orders for their expected deliveries from Samsung. The -K05DE is listed in SW Update with the 8.1drivers which suggests that it is in the production process.

If you are going to buy a mac you would be wise only to run mac software or I can promise you won't be happy.

I read on the Yoga Pro 2 that the Samsung Ativ Book 9+ was also affected by color problems (yellowish).
Is this true? Was this fix with software/driver updates? -
TWhiteInCO in the thread has both and pointed out that the screens look different. He even attached pics.
-
Different in what way?
-
I've had the Yoga 2 pro for a day now, and the yellows are B A D. From the screenshots on the Lenovo support forums it looks like the screen itself is the limiting factor on color accuracy, but that the power saving functions increase the problem. Lenovo probably needs to tweak their firmware to increase color quality and reduce power savings. The AB9+ screens show the same issue, just not as bad, so my guess is that their firmware is tuned better for screen.
I'm still on the fence, but 75% probable that I will return the Yoga. -
I can't find this laptop in stock, so I tried to ask a question on the Samsung website regarding availability...
If they can't be bothered to answer me, I can't be bothered to search for their product. Sony Vaio here I come! -
Haha, like Sony support is any better. Your question probably didn't have enough characters.
-
My understanding is that both the yoga 2 and the ab9+ use the same screen and have exactly the same problem and that was from somebody here who also has both.
-
TWhiteInCO noted that they look different. I am assuming it is mostly firmare or software too, as Samsung knows how to calibrate their screens better.
-
Plug the Yoga 2 Pro into power and the yellows are still dull golden green. Plug the 9 Plus into power and they're yellow. Different display power management.
-
And if you change the y2p energy manager setting from the default stable mode to high performance the yellows are yellow on the y2p too. It seems to be software related and they need to figure out how to properly adjust it.
-
Sony Vaio Pro - Fan noise problem
Yoga 2 Pro - Color display problem
Samsung ATIV 9 Plus (8GB/256) - No release date
Asus Zenbook Infinity - No release date
Nothing but headaches with these Microsoft approved ultrabooksk2007 and oneforwall like this. -
Haha, yup, the culture of PC launching through the years. B9+ 8GB/256 is set for within 2 weeks on Amazon and 2-3 weeks on Samsung.com as of today.
-
Hey guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I actually registered to say that I placed an order from the Samsung website for the i7/256GB/8GB version about 8 hours ago. I just received a shipping confirmation with a FedEx tracking number showing it was picked up and is on it's way. Apparently it's being delivered to me tomorrow. Did anyone else receive theirs yet?
Yes, I also double-checked my invoice/statement to see I was charged the $1799 price. -
Very very curious...considering the website says "Pre-order 2-3 weeks". Please let us know if in fact you do get it tomorrow. If it really is that fast I might consider canceling Amazon and ordering it direct from Samsung.
-
agent009, that is good news seeing that it is shipping. I have a pre-order on Amazon and will probably wait it out for another week or so, since I will be saving almost $200 through Amazon. Come on Samsung, increase your production!
-
Maybe you can check the weight of your package on Fedex.com. Since the package maybe the slim pouch.
-
My Amazon order now says 8/11 delivery. Change the shipping speed to force a refresh. I can live with that for the savings.
-
I pre-ordered the i7/8GB/256GB AB9+ on Amazon on 9/26 for a good price of $1645. Since then I had a lot of time to think about whether I should keep or cancel the order. Well today I finally decided to cancel it. I'm in no rush in getting a new laptop and what I really want is a 15" lightweight laptop with a great display and good battery life. So I'm willing to wait a few more months to see what other 15" laptops come up. I'm actually hoping for a 15" version of the AB9+ or UX301.
If nothing good comes up, then I'll go back to this laptop.k2007 likes this. -
Neither of those have 15" announced. If they are announced, by that time we are in 2014 and probably best to wait and get a broadwell. The haswell arrived a bit late this year. I actually prefer the 13 or smaller because I'm always mobile and often walk instead of driving around the city. 3 lbs is already pushing it.
