Please don't jinx it haha. I just checked the FedEx tracking again and it says the package weight is 2.7lbs. A sleeve plus shipping materials wouldn't weigh THAT much, would it?
I'll update when I receive this package tomorrow.
-
I think the laptop is 3.06lbs.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Broadwell slips. Intel will be wanting to get its money back on the Haswell investment. We've seen the slow introduction of Haswell because of trying to clear the Ivy Bridge inventory so the same may happen again unless Intel cuts back on production.
John -
There is the Dell XPS 15

This may in fact be the sleeve. When I got my AB9+ a few months ago ( 4GB/128) the shipping package weight said something like 7.2 pounds even though the computer only weighed a little over 3.
-
Yup, the Dell M3800/XPS 15 is currently at the top of my list. But still hoping for something a tiny bit lighter.
-
Interestingly enough, the FedEx website now says it's a 4lb package. What's even weird is that I got a shipping confirmation email that says:
Code:Product Name Qty Shipped ATIV Book 9 Plus (13.3" LED QHD+ 3200 x 1800) 1 NP940X3G-K04US Slim Pouch for ATIV Book 7/9 13" - Black 1 AA-BS8N13B/US
I guess we'll see once it gets delivered this afternoon.
EDIT: Wow, apparently all copy/paste formatting goes away when you submit a post. -
Curious to see what happens. when I place a dummy order I get:
The computer : ATIV Book 9 Plus (13.3" LED QHD+ 3200 x 1800) - NP940X3G-K04US Preorder - your order will ship in 2 - 3 weeks
The slim pouch: Slim Pouch for ATIV Book 7/9 13" - Red - AA-BS8N13R/US Ships in 1 to 3 business days -
WOW, this is really a good news.
-
I'm holding out for similar specs except in addition I'd like at least 16GB ram.
-
U may be holding out for quite a while...

Perhaps / perhaps not... we'll see by the end of the year.
If not, there's still the Samsung Ativ Book 9 that goes up to 16 GB.
There's also the Dell XPS 15, the Sony FLIP 15, and with any luck there'll be more to choose from instead of less as time goes on.
This whole less-upgradable laptop trend doesn't work well for my development career (or my wallet). -
windows 8.1 lost fn+screen brightness and power options. how do i get it back?
-
I think you mean the Book 7? -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
Not all the Book 7s. The Book 7 / NP730 / NP740 seem to have 3 different board options: Dedicated graphics + some on-board RAM + one SODIMM slot; integrated graphics + 2 SODIMM slots (notably the Best Buy version but there may be others; and integrated graphics + 1 SODIMM slot + 2 fans (no on-board RAM). The least one surfaced recently.
I would note that the 15" Series 9 which has been sold in a few countries at the Book 9 has two SODIMM slots, so it can take 16GB. We are still waiting to find out whether that model is phased out or will be updated.

Just got an email update from Amazon:
"Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus NP940X3G-K04US 13.3-Inch Laptop (Mineral Ash Black)"
Previous estimated arrival date: November 05, 2013 - November 19, 2013
New estimated arrival date: November 08, 2013
November 8th, I'll take it!
-
I got same email but delivery date of Nov 12.
-
Mine still reads: Wednesday, October 23, 2013 - Friday, November 8, 2013 by 8:00pm
No email update as of yet.
What ever happened to Agent009? Did he get his K04US yesterday? -
I have the exact same issue and have been trying for days to fix it with no success. It sucks to be locked into max brightness when on battery power. We may just have to wait for Samsung to issue a fix.
-

I suggest you follow the Windows 8.1 update thread. This post might be relevant to your problem.
John -
I am also curious about that.
-
Yeah, I've tried that registry change, various versions of graphics drivers, disabling adaptive brightness, etc to no avail. I guess I'll just sit tight until Samsung figures it out.
-
I changed my shipping 3 days ago from 1 day instead of 2 and I got the 8th of Nov. My previous dates said 11/6 - 11/12.
Hope it doesn't get pushed back. That's only 2 weeks.

Ordered the i7 on Sept 29 from Amazon with 2-day Prime shipping and mine says est. Delivery on Nov 12. I guess 2 weeks isn't THAT long...
-
In case anyone was wondering about my AB9+ order: I got home around 7PM on Friday to find a notice from FedEx saying they couldn't deliver it without a signature. I arranged to go pick it up at the depot tomorrow during lunch.
-
Hey guys,
today I canceled my order on amazon.de because a local shop near me (notebook.de) has the AB9+ K05DE in stock! I called them, telling them that I will pick it up tomorrow after work. They made a confirmed reservation for me. I think I'm not getting a wink of sleep tonight! -
So I went over to FedEx during lunch to pick up my package. When it was brought out I noticed it was an extremely large box, but when I picked it up it felt pretty light.
Yup, Samsung shipped me my leather sleeve in a box measuring 20"x16"x"6". What a waste of packaging. -
And you had to sign for it!!!! How disappointing but a good test run for some of us thinking of canceling our Amazon order to get the computer " faster" thru Samsung.
-
What really got my hopes up was that they actually charged my credit card the full $1,799 + shipping. I thought companies only charge your card when your stuff is ready to be shipped. I don't think cancelling any Amazon pre-orders would be prudent considering they nabbed it for ~$1,650 IIRC.

Hey guys,
two days ago I received my AB9+ K05 and i love it. Here some information if anyone is interested:
-
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
Thank you. Is that the K05DE? K05 specs can vary between countries so those last two letters are significant.
I see the RAM is dual channel. Does CPU-z give any further details about the type and whether it is 1.5V or 1.35V?
John -
This is the K05DE
Unfortunately neither cpu-z nor hwinfo gave me any information about the ram voltage. -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
Thank you.
We assumes the RAM is a DDP package so it doesn't need any SPD or other identifying data. You could try SiSoftware Sandra > Hardware > Mainboard which comes up with some info for my NP900X3B DDP RAM (2x 2GB SanMax M471B5174BM0-CH9 DDR3 SODIMM PC3-10700).

Thank you for the additional testing. PC3 12800U means 1600MHz 1.15V RAM which gives a bit more power saving compared to 1.35V which saves power compared to 1.5V. The downside is slightly slower timings (the 11-11-11-28) compared to higher voltage RAM.
That's an interesting glitch caused by Sandra. It's probably caused by the hardware probing. Were you using a mouse to get around the problem?
John -
RAM is DDR3L 1.35v, which is fairly typical for the Haswelll ULV (now also called ULT) Ultrabook platform.
-
I used the keyboard to take the screenshot and then restarted the notebook

I have just purchased a Book 9 Plus (4 Gb / 128 Gb). I have already upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and have also enabled and used SideSync with my Note 2 phone.
Over all I am very happy with the hardware and Windows 8.1 O/S. I have the screen set at the maximum 3200 X 1800 resolution. This works well for everything EXCEPT Google Chrome. I may post a few screen captures to illustrate my challenges in updates to this post. I am a HEAVY user of Google's tools. GMail, GTasks, GContacts and GCalender are VERY important to me.
I need a primer on how to best set Google Chrome settings and laptop settings to optimize the screen performance (viewability) of my new laptop. Has anyone managed to find settings that allow the use of this screens WONDERFUL display capabilities without makeing Googl's apps look so tiny -
Hello,
I've got a NP900X3F and rather dislike the standard windows 8. So I've downgraded to Windows 7 but I'm in need of some windows 7 USB drivers. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
PS so far the SW update app has been useless and the samsung site is also next to useless, the online chat has been down all week and no reply to my e-mail yet. -
Doubt you'll get many replies, this thread isn't for the NP900X3F, rather the Plus.
-
Could you link where it's best to post then as I couldn't find any threads for the NP900X3F (ATIV Book 9)
-
A quick Google search shows me this... http://forum.notebookreview.com/sam...k-9-13-3-ivy-bridge-np900x3e-np900x3f-20.html
All you'll get here is anticipation building as Amazon get ready to ship the NP940X3G-K04US later this week. -
Thanks Dan will post there
-
Hi kwjennings,
I'm also using Google Chrome on my AB9+ and I have the same problems. I know that Google Chrome has a flag called. You can enable it by typingCode:#high-dpi-support
in the address bar of chrome. Search for hidpi there and enable the flag. After restarting chrome the fonts should look much nicer.Code:about:flags
Unfortunately the hidpi support of Chrome is very experimental. So many things are buggy (i.e. the context-menu opens far away from the position I clicked on). Google will improve this feature in the future but until now not everything is working well.
Furthermore I've set the page zoom in Chrome to 125%. Many pages look nicer to me with this zoom level. You can change this setting in the Chrome settings. Just search for "zoom" there. -
This is too expensive unfortunately even with the amazing screen!
-
Probably the best of the newer quad resolution systems out there. But 8.1 scaling and a resolution this high on a 13" has issues. Many apps are not coded for it and others just look blurry. But for movies, pictures it looks better then the older FHD which I own. But its a balance. Overall, I feel the older FHD is more useable but no touch screen which I don't miss one bit. In time, the code will catch up. But that is the problem, the software and 8.1 are not completely ready for this high a rez screen on a 13". If you can except those drawbacks then pull the trigger by all means. In time, the code will only get better.
-
GREAT NEWS.
My Amazon order for the AB9+ 8GB/256 says : Shipping Now with delivery expected tomorrow. -
Same here. My credit card just got charged today!
-
Try these, they helped a lot with the yoga 2 pro which has the exact same screen.
chrome://flags/ and find a flag 'HiDPI Support Windows' - enable it from the drop down menu.
While you are in there, enable all the touch options. There are three you should be able to enable:
Touch Events
Touch optimized UI
Touch enabled drag and drop -
Still waiting on mine. Still says Shipping Soon with an ETA of the 8th.
Great to see other people getting updated tho.
Just checked, got charged!
