Oh you're right red dragon thanks for clearing this up for me![]()
Must be 'bad' drivers you and Phil are right.
There is hope for the N510 yet - hoooorah!![]()
Now about the battery life - please please let it be 6.5 hours and up - I'm being optimisticAt least the UK version has a large(r) battery, I think.
Guys please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks again both!

6 hours is possible in Energy saving profile and with dimmed display.
-
It's now listed on Samsung UK website, and some high street shops are listing them on their sites - although with very little info, it must be the N510. None are pickup from shop only delivery. -
Phil, do you think that when n510 is released with windows 7 it will be more expensive?
its logical to assume yes. -
Seems logical yes. But competition will force Samsung to sell it at the same price point.
I mean Acer 1810T is a little cheaper but has Windows 7 and a much stronger CPU. A Dual Core version is expected soon, priced very similar as N510. -
-
You're right about acer and their higher spec machine at a lower or same price, but samsung is much better quality.
I'm considering the acer 1810 or the n510 but I think a fair comparison with the acer is the samsung x120 - which is likely to be higher priced than acer's 1810.
Hmmm....food for thought
do you think when 7 is released and drivers mature, battery life in n510, and also in the 1810, will improve over xp and vista? Or will it stay the same or decrease owing to 7's extra features? -
I'm expecting it will stay the same. Vista can be quite good with battery life.
-
-
I think N510 will do the same on W7, once the drivers are optimized.
Edit: Notebookjournal also got 1300 3dmarks06.

You know what i want to see? NEO + 4330. That would be a nice combo in a netbook -
Just had a thought guys, this might be the best time to buy the N510. £389 isn't such a bad pricing considering that when Win 7 is released with it, it'll have the full ION not LE, and probably cost more.
I'm also inclined to think MS will charge Samsung more for Win 7 licenses, and they in turn will charge us more.
I can see the full ION with Win 7 selling for £449 at the end of October - making £389 a hot buy now!
XP is also likely to run smoother with ATOM than Win 7. And considering that Netbooks are intended for web surfing, word processing and the like, and long battery life, this might be perfect right now.
This is just my use of Netbooks - I appreciate others may want more and thus would opt for Acer's 1810 with faster processors (but with a glossy screen - sorry just can't get passed that). -

Well if you buy it, that is awesome. Let us know what you think about it, we would love to hear.

Video playback results are getting better now. 1080p H264 movies play with 25% CPU load.

Red dragon, I'll def update you guys if/when I get it -

I've always said that 11" IMO was the perfect size for a "Netbook". This one seems to seal the deal. And with all the 11.6" coming out its gonna be fun.
Hany, agreed it looks good in person. -

I everyone. I've been looking at this forum a lot but i never took part of the discussion.
I'd like to ask you something. I just ordered a Samsung NC10 for 360€. I was hesitating between the n120 and this one. Finally i decided to go for the nc10 and his matte screen and i'm writting with it right now.
But today i just found out about the n510 for 420€ ! And i don't know what to do ! i still have 9 days to send my nc10 back and change for the n510 but are the 60€ extra worth it ?
What could i do with the n510 that i can't with a nc10 ? Except for the bigger screen/keybord/mousetrack ??
If you could answer fast...
Thanks.
EDIT : i was wrong, i looked at the "pro" version of ldlc site. For normal people, the n510 is 500€ and that's too much for me..
I guess i'll just keep my new nc10 ! -

thank you

Hey,
I am actually looking for new videos about the N510 on Youtube and found some really interesting gaming tests.
Call of Duty 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCjaoEFOoRg
World of Warcraft
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUsbOqV8xbM
Battlefield Heroes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEfR6Af001Y
Battleforge

HD Video Test 1080p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEjmo6NsojE
I think Call of Duty 4 is the game which needs the most resources, it runs pretty smooth, what do you think?
Is it looking as fast as the ACER N10? -
-
I am sorry, I meant ASUS N10
-
Does anyone know where we could find actual user feedback/reviews? I found one on amazon.de, but nowhere else.
Any help is very welcome -
It's in dutch, Google can translate it. -
Many thanks Phil

The Asus N10 had the ability to be nicely overclocked to 2,0 Ghz and sometimes 2,2 Ghz.
Since they both have the same Atom(or similiar... N270 and N280).. wouldnt the samsung n510 be able to be OC'ed to 2,0 ghz as well?
When the N10 came up to 2 Ghz, suddenly many games where possible like TF2. Games that required intense CPU usage. From what I have seen on samsung nc10 sites, people seem only to be able get to 1,7 GHz OC on their machines...
Why can the CPU in the N10 Asus, OC higher than the samsung netbooks, when the atom is the same?
Other questions:
1)Is there any kind of laptop bags/sleeves for N510 or any other 11''?
2)Whats the maximum ram you can have? it will only accept up to 2 GB right? What about the quality of the ram.. will it be worth it to go buy high quality fast SDRAM DDR2? if you buy the best you can buy?
3)is there any slim-external DVD/Blu-ray drives from samsung that would go well together with the n510?
4)If you wanted to put in a new harddrive in the N510, would any 2,5'' fit? Like the average 500 GB Western digital drive? -
