Hi! I have a Samsung NP350E5X-S01 laptop for 9 months now and it worked great till a few days ago when it started to turn off without any warning when the battery discharges to its circa 30%. Everything is properly set up in the power plan, so it isn't a problem. I did the bios battery calibration and it was the same problem there - when it comes to 30% it turns off. I can't discharge it more than that and therefore it has drastically less working hours than a week ago. Do you have any idea what it is and how can I solve this problem? Is it necessary to send it to the service since I don't know if battery is in guaranty? Thanks in advance!

If you have run the battery calibration in the BIOS and the problem still occurs then it is time to contact Samsung and ask for a replacement battery (the normal notebook battery warranty is one year).

But first I would suggest you run one more calibration cycle: Fully charge the battery, fully drain the battery using the calibration facility (and check at what charge percentage the computer shuts down) then fully charge it again. Then use the computer on battery and see if there is any change in the behaviour.

Also, if the discharge in the battery calibration is uniform and runs down to zero but Windows still stops at 30% charge then I would suggest you check the Battery Settings in Windows power management.

Thank you very much for your reply!
I run the battery calibration in the BIOS three times and the problem still occurs. Battery Settings in Windows power management are all good so it's not the problem. Anyway, I'll give the calibration one more try and then I'll contact the local Samsung service.
    Cheers!

That does sound like a dying battery.

Be forewarned that Samsung may ask you to restore the factory image of Windows in order to conclusively show that the problem is not in software.
