Hey guys I can't find any specs on the MwH and Mah of the battery, or its dimensions. It seems like finding a battery replacment for this laptop is difficult since it's internal, and even harder if I don't have those specs. Most of the ebay listings for instance show an external battery! Anyone know a reputable site for this battery, and the specs above? I don't want to ship a battery from hong kong to find out its dimensions don't even fit!

When I bought this laptop 1.5 years ago I got nearly 5 hours a charge. I am barely down to 2 hours right now and would really liek to replace it.

Another quick question is what is the screw placement (there are four different black screw types, some with a blue streak across them) on the bottom of the laptop? Many of the screws on my laptop, which was bought used, were not present and I might have messed up some of the order when replacing the laptop, and so my front left hinge sticks out (outwards towards the direction of the screen) when I try to shut it on my left side (trying to upload a photo but phone camera acting funny).

The Z5B wasn't in production very long and the battery is likely to be the same as either the Z5A (there's a photo of the battery in this collection and shows battery part # AA-PBZN8NP ) or (more likely) the Z5C (part # BA43-00318A according to this listing by a supplier of Samsung parts).

I would recommend that you get the bottom off your computer, remove the battery and photograph the label which has the part number and other details. Then search using the details on the battery.

Damn. So while going to class this week, left my hinge popping out, and I guess the ribbon (clothed) ribbon that goes into the slot popped out. And when I plugged it in, NO BACKlight works on my LED(?). Boots up fine though. I am wondering what did I possibly damage? I have been reading their are capacitators around the motherboard that might have gone out. Or less say it was the most likely culprit, the cable connecting the LED to the motherboard, is there a way I can buy a new cable instead of a new LED (ie does that cable run underneath the bezzle to a place where I can detach it or is it soldered on)?

Boots fine but just without the backlight (have to hold a lamp up to it).

I would have bought the Samsung NP930X5J but Samsung decided to stop selling notebooks in Europe just before they shipped the UK version (and my fingers get confused by the US keyboard layout). So I bought a Dell Latitude E7440 (more details here). I can't complain given I paid about half what the Samsung would have cost and I was able to move over the 1TB mSATA SSD that i already had.

Most likely it is the cable that passes through the hinge and connects the LCD, the backlight and the camera to the mainboard. Possibly part BA39-01190A from the description. None in stock there (although they do have hinges), but you can get it from China (look round for other sources for that part number).

However, first check and re-seat the cable where it connects to the mainboard. That should be accessible when you remove the bottom of the computer. There is also a connection at the other end of the cable but you have to pull off the display bezel to check or replace it.

John the monitor is listed as a TFT LCD...but on ebay many parts list a possible LED for this model. Is that common to have an LED replace an LCD? The samsungparts website, which I checked with before, is not very descriptive about this.

They are all the same unit: TFT LCD stands for Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display and LED is the Light Emitting Diode backlight system (which took over from CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) about five years ago).

So I'm confused. If I crack open the bezel will it have an inverter to diagnose/worry about or not?

There's no inverter in there - they were needed for the CCFL backlights but the LED backlights don't need them.

I am going to the shop tomorrow. I plugged in the pin onto the mainboard before I posted anything, screen powers up but no backlight. What would that negate as far as damage? if the screen is booting up but no backlight, can I negate the any sort of motherboard damage? Any screen damage and limit it to the cable, maybe the part of the cable underneath the bezel is pulled? Another thing I just noticed was that when I shut the laptop and the cable flew out, it touch and briefly saw a small spark when it touched the copper heatsink. I wonder if this is what happened and what this could have damaged.

Lastly the little mount on one of the two laptop hinges is a screw with a very (either due to wear and tear) or manufactured round top. This screw goes into a golden sort of 'holder' that is inserted into a plastic hole. While that plastic hole doesn't look damaged it seems a little large and doesn't stay in. Do you think this is easily fixable, or would I need to order another part for this?

I ask since the inability of the screen/laptop to shut was the main impetus for all this complexity
