2.5" SSDs are physically compatible with 2.5" SATA HDDs, so it is easy to make a swap.

    Hi again :)

I am sorry if i ask to many questions, but i am not good at this.
Since SSD is quite excpensive i just found some Hybrid disk SEAGATE MOMENTUS XT HYBRID, and i have pretty much same question as about the SSD disk. Can i use this in my Samsung?

Here is a some info about the disk Seagate Momentus XT Review | StorageReview.com
I think this disk seams to be quit good.

And i also wonder about drivers to my Laptop, if i download drivers from samsungs site in sweden, the drivers that is suppose to be for my Laptop it dont work, i am afraid of install drivers since i have tried 4 times now, and the laptop get so slow, and i cant reboot, its like the laptop is going in some sleepmode when i reboot.
I have to close the laptop down and start it again.

So now i just have drivers that windows installed.

I have also notised that it take long time to copy a dvd to the hdd, i did a test with a 4gb dvd were i copy the dvd to the HDD, and it took 19 minutes.
It only took 9 minutes when i did the same in my old Lg r-405-A.CPATV.

Notice: I have only hade the Laptop for one month, and it has been slow from day one.

And finaly (i hope hehe) is it possible to change grafic card, today i have Intel R Hd that is built in.

    Kind Regards
    Wille

    Too many questions.

    1. Yes, the Momentus XT will be compatible.

    2. You can go straight to the Samsung global download site for drivers. This list is for the NP-R530E. Note that there are separate lists for the R530; R530C; R530CE; and R530E. I haven't a clue what the differences are and which your model may be (but the sticker on the bottom of the computer may give a clue).

    3. Did your computer come with a pre-installed anti-virus software? Some of them can really hit performance. You may want to uninstall it and try another package such as AVG Free.

You can also test the HDD performance using a program such as HD Tune. You can compare your results with the Tom's Hardware charts.

    4. No. you can't upgrade your graphics card.

Thank you for all answers John
Hehe, sorry with all my questions :D

    1. Great, then i will buy a disk like that.
    2.Model NP-R530
    Input 19v 3,16A(60w)
    Model Code: NP-R530-JBZ1SE
    April 2010

When i look at that download site and look at firmware then i have the same as R530C!
Phoenix Technologies Ltd. 08JV.M029.20100621.hkk, 2010-06-21 is my firmware.
And my motherbord name is R530/R730/R540 :O
But i will try if drivers for R530C work.

3.Yes, it hade Mcaffe. But i dont have it installed, i have tried without any virus/firewall enabled. I think it is the DVD-RW that some "crap" i cant even find any support for that model TEAC DV-W28S-V. If i copy same file from disk d: to the disk c: it take only 3 minutes. And over 19 minutes from the dvd to the disk. Fasted speed it hade was 3.70MB/s and that is realy, realy bad speed.

    4. Ok :)

    Thank you for all help.
    Kind regards
    Wille

Interesting that there is the same mainboard used on different models. That should provide some economies of scale.

Yes, before the latest firmware update the mainboard´s name was R530/R730, and after firmware update it added R540 aswell.

I get more and more frustrated with this "what drivers" i should have, and the support is not very helpful. I have win7 home premium 64 bits installed, and i asked if i could upgrade memory since it has 3GB as default. The answer i got was that i cant, if i want to upgrade then i must buy a "better" version of win7 64 bits. Then it has support for up to 8GB ram, but home premium 64 bits only have support for 3Gb ram!

I dont know, but what i have learned is that 64bits system is design for use of +4GB ram, and some versions can only have up top 16Gb ram(if the hardware support it offcourse) and some 64bits system more then 16Gb ram.

And what about this Samsung update plus? Whats the point of this when it cant find any driver, and whats the point of a recover partition with tons of trial versions(beside that they want us to buy it) like Mcaffe, Office 2007, Failsafe, AnyPc!

I thought that Lg had bad support, but so far Samsung is even worse, at least in Sweden.

    Kind Regards
    Wille

The 32-bit Windows has an addressing limit which is around 3.25GB, so some of 4GB RAM will be unused. Going to 64-bit Windows gets round that problem but introduces compatibility issues with some old programs. I use Win 7 Pro's XP mode to get round that, but XP mode uses about 1GB RAM so one loses the extra addressable space unless investing in more than 4GB RAM (which is still very expensive).

Yes, computer support is one of Samsung's weaknesses. At least one of their UK support staff used to make occasional unofficial contributions here but hasn't been seen for a long while. I got the impression that there was frustration with the quality of the technical backup coming from HQ.

Sure, but i HAVE 64bits installed, so the answer that it dont support more then 3GB ram is for me unbeliveble! I mean how can someone who say something like that work with support?

Also when i asked what kind of HDD i can have, i got the answer "we only support the disk that is installed", sure i said, but that was not my question.
    They refuse to answer!
In other words Samsung only support Hitachi´s hdd´s, that must mean that they belive there own HDD´s for example Samsung SpinPoint is crap.

I blame myself for not search more info about Samsung´s support when it come to Laptops before i bought it. But i am glad that i have saved the mail where thay say that its is Ok to uppgrade the ram, and also that i can buy a new OS for example win7 pro 64bits.

    Kind Regards
    Wille
