If the sammy gaymer didn't get the 7970m when clevo notebooks did, something's wrong. Clevo notebooks already have it, something's fishy.

Samsung plans to make this a 3D laptop with the 7970M, remember clevo JUST recieved theirs I would imagine it will take samsung longer to put get the whole 3D package finished and tested and produced. If a couple weeks go by and we do not hear anything then we should start to worry.

I can tell you that the gtx 675m version is outstanding. The plastic shell is very though and nice. The aluminum is very elegant and is always cool to the touch. Just get it.

Yeah, the thing is 7970m runs cooler and faster. So I'm hoping to get the 7970m over the 675m. I've been reading how ridiculous the temps are on the Samsung with the 675m

HA, same here i want the Samsung cause of its sleek design. If the asus g75 provided the 7970 or 680, no doubt I'll get it. But it seems like for now i want the Samsung and its design with the 7970.

So, if I get one of the harddrives replaced by a ssd, will it work the same as usual when istalling eveything, or will it be more difficult? Do you get eveything on discs or do you lose some stuff by doing the harddrive switch?

I don't know where you are getting that info from but I actually own this nice laptop with the GTX-675 GPU and it does not get hot at all. Granted I am not running it hard with CPU/GPU intensive games or processes. But it is the coolest running laptop I've owned so far (and I own many different laptops with lesser CPU's and GPU's and they all run hotter than this Samsung). I would not worry about any heat problems with this lappy if that is what is holding you back from buying it!

Played 30 mins or so of CoD today with the Series 7 gamer sitting on a 15inch laptop cooler with single fan, nothing fancy and highest recorded temp was around 61C. Normal web browsing and such its usually around 41-43C.

Anyone else have trouble with the power adapter? I just finished playing a game and then was using my browser and a pop up, similar to when you turn on caps lock or change the volume level, showed up that said something about the ac adapter but disappeared so quickly I couldn't read all of it. Now it wont charge and it seems to not be drawing power as well as the LED not lighting up on the brick.

Update: Called support and basically they told me to send it in, which did not come as a surprise. Shipped it out today and according to UPS it should arrive to the service center in Fort Worth, TX on Tuesday. Luckily for me I'm in Texas so shipping should be faster than normal. For anyone who cares I will keep posting updates as I receive more info. I miss it already.... my little hannspree netbook has to carry the load now. :(

I mean games like Crysis, BF3 and etc. Some people say it gets ridiculous. But it doesn't overheat, it just gets ridiculous. I'm not sure if thats true or not, I'm just reciting what some people say.

On the Samsung UK site a reviewer has commented that the keyboard is uncomfortable for typing due to the edges of the laptop. However from the photos, these look smooth.

Can any owners comment on this aspect please?

I just Lol'd. The keyboard is nice and the edges are smooth. They are somewhere between a nice plastic and a smooth rubber. I really like the feedback of the keys also. Very comfortable for me. I have hands on the larger side.

I was used to ASUS G75's keyboard. But after using Samsung for 3 days now I love it. It's so smoothly. This is by far one of the best keyboard I experienced with laptops. Great laptop over all.

I am a stickler for good comfortable keyboards since I type a lot in my work. This keyboard is nice and comfortable for typing. The keys are laid out within intuitive reach for me and key action is very good as well. There are no sharp or rough edges that get in the way or create discomfort. Overall excellent keyboard. (However I disable the wide trackpad due to it is ergonomically flawed like all other laptop trackpads that are wide). Your palms keep touching the edges of the wide touchpad when typing and it moves the cursor and focus off all the time. So I disable it when I need to type a large document or something like this post!

I would be interested in this too. Are there straightforward Windows and driver installation DVDs?
Thanks for confirming. I also thought the reviewer's comments seemed odd in the light of the smooth edges shown in the photos.

BTW - can anyone comment on the noise levels of the fans when internet surfing/word processing?

Sending it back for a refund. On a personal note the keyboard flex around the "a" key is unacceptable in a £1500 laptop too. If the usb fault wasn't there I would have put spacers under the keyboard to fix it but really shouldn't have to in a high end device like this.

Where are you reading such nonsense? I have not encountered posts indicating concerns over heat.

Anyways, HWmonitor shows non-gaming temps in low 40s. After playing Diablo 3 for 3 hours (highest settings), with the computer on my lap, and I exit the game to view the HWM window, the temp indicated 80. Within 10-15 seconds, the temp drops to 60. The GPU vent is very hot but everything else stays cool. That the temp drops so fast is a really good indication about the quality of the cooling system.

Edit: When I'm careful to not block part of the GPU vent, the temp only goes to 62ish playing D3

No problems with my USB ports. Works fine. You mention only the front right USB port not working with your USB device. Did you try all the other USB ports to see if they work? If all of them don't work, then it could just be the drivers are not installed properly and need to try uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers. You can download them from the Samsung Support Download site. If it is only the front right USB port not working, them yeah I would consider the PC a DOA defective unit and ask for replacement or refund.

I did also notice that the keyboard left side keys flex alot when pressing around the "a" key areas. I myself thought it was cheap of them to allow this for a $1899.99 laptop but it does not interferfe with my typing because the keyboard spacings and ergonomics are excellent. So I kept it as it does not bother me and I usually am a stickler for how good lappy keyboards feel and behave before I buy a laptop. But that's just me. Others may be bothered by the keyboard visible flexing when pressing the left side keys.

You can install fresh Windows 7 64 biit OS from a Recovery CD that they provide with the laptop. You will need to download the Samsung software from the Samsung Support download site for your laptop model.
The have one main software package called Easy Software Manager that you should install first after your basic Windows 7 OS install. When you run that Easy Software Manager, it will examine your PC and list all the available software and drivers thay you need and allows you to select the ones you want to download and install.

As for the fan noise level during normal use like browsing around files or surfing the internet (like I am doing now with it), I can hear a slight whisper of the fans but overall pretty quiet. And I am using it right now on a very hot 82F degrees day with no air conditioning on in my house. Laptop bottom is sitting on top of another flat laptop surface which blocks any vents underneath it for the most part... and it still running cool with only a slight fan whisper sound. Sitting it on my lap and it is cool to the touch underneath and does not burn my legs like other hot running laptops. Hope this answers your questions.

Would you need to uninstall express cache if your were to put an OCZ Synapse drive in? The expresscache SSD is very slow and small in comparison.

    Thanks very much for posting!

The flex around the "a" key seems a bit surprising, considering the use of that area of the keyboard in gaming, but hopefully not a deal-breaker.

One other question: how do you (and others) find the screen? I'm assuming that the "superbright" finish is glossy - is that correct?

    Thanks again!

Must admit I am extremely tempted to upgrade from my Asus G73.... The question about to wait for the upgraded graphics card is the killer....as at present in the UK there is a deal to reclaim purchase tax...so basically there is a 20% discount for the next 2 weeks.... Do I wait for the new card....or take advantage of the 20% off...hmm

...oh and how serious is the temperature issue....one review isnt sufficient evidence....but clearly a worry...

Maybe they designed the keyboard that way to have some flex where those gaming "WASD" keys are because it will reduce the amount of pounding stress those keys will take in time. The keys mechanicals will last longer with the slight flex they've allowed. Just a thought.

The screen is supposedly a glossy screen but it does not reflect that much to me. The screen is extremely bright and any reflections that might show up on the glossy screen don't interfere with viewing at all. The screen is excellent probably like every report so far has stated one of the best if not the best screen available on any laptop to date.

FWIW, I have the expresscache installed and it says it is enabled along with my Samsung 830 SSD boot drive. Everything is fast as lighting. Real whippy fast compared to all my old school laptops. I have not tried disabling expresscache because everything runs so fine and fast as it is now. So I can tell you that you DO NOT need to disable expresscache if you install a SSD drive. Some say you should and some say it actually still helps to speed things up. It's up to you. I left mine on until proven it is detrimental when used with a fast SSD drive.

    Hi guys!

I'm ready to wait for the 7970m version of the laptop but I saw that someone mentionned Alienwares having the same screens (superBright 400nit FHD LED). I spoke to an Alienware representative this morning who didn't know what that was. Would someone know more about this ?

    Thanks all !

Thanks for that. The issue I see is that both provide a software/hardware cache solution, so you would have 2 services running in Windows that do the same thing - but one utilising to the P4 -iSSD, the other to the Synapse cache drive, but both caching the same spindle drive.

I looked at the Windows Event logs and saw that it was flagging some warning messages about write cachinc is on for harddrive DR0 and may cause corruption of data. And I see other messages that write caching is being disabled on Harddrive DR0. So it looks like Windows management is taking care of this. Also if it is what I think it is indicating, then you are right maybe we should disable the expresscache. I am not sure if leaving it on is causing any issues at this time.

FYI, y'all. For the very first time this evening, as I was opening a page to this forum in IE9, my entire screen turned reddish and pixelated... then the infamous Windows pop up message appeared saying that the Nvidia driver 296.01 stopped working and has recovered. After a a second or two the pixelated red distorted screen went away and it displayed the web page normally again. So I don't know what is up with the video driver or card. I will keep a watch out for reoccurrences of this dang error now! I had nothing running but MS Outlook and my IE9 browser visiting this forum! Laptop was set to Gaming Mode (fastest speed) and that's all. The laptop was sitting idle like this all day long unused until I got on to use the internet.

Use Samsung Recovery Solution to create a backup of the drivers and software. You can then install what you need. This backup will contain any third party software bundled with your computer but which is not available for download.

The GTX 675 is a hot pig, it's just a re-binned 580.........it sucks a lot of power and produces more heat than compared to the 7970. Don't believe us? Then take some time to look up the reviews on each, old tech vs. new tech is not a debate.........7970 is the fastest and proportionately coolest GPU on the market until Nvidia get around to releasing it's vaporware 680.

Is it better to do this than Installing Windows 7 from a recovery disc and then use Easy Software manager after the switch?
Your suggestion would require more work, since I have to install and copy everything before making the harddrive switch, and then installing it all again, right?
Hmm, will Samsung Recovery Solution allow me to copy to an external harddrive or do I have to burn discs?
Will I miss anything important if I go with the Windows 7+ Download Easy Software Manager solution?
    Thanks!

Samsung's Update Plus seems like a a better choice in regards to re-installing the latest drivers than does Easy Software Manager.

I am only suggesting to use SRS to create the drivers / software backup. Then first you use what is a generic Windows installation disc to reinstall Windows after which you can either install new downloaded drivers or the drivers / software backup to get the hardware set up, then install the Samsung software then load any third party software from your backup.

Earlier someone priced a similar spec'd Sager/Clevo at $1800. I promise you they forgot the second harddrive, first hdd @ 7200rpm w/ 8gb ssd cache, and the blu-ray r/w (= That adds a good $300-400 to the price.

That backpack looks slick. Kinda expensive for my taste. Any other brand of backpack to fit a 17" laptop with high quality materials? My budget is around $100 US top. Thanks

My charger packed it in last night. Woke up this morning with a dead battery... Going to be contacting the shop that I bought it at tomorrow when they have support available. I have only been using the laptop moderately for 4 days now. Sadly I also leave tomorrow for two weeks and won't be able to have everything fixed before i depart. Not overly impressed with Samsung at the moment.

True enough! This is the one factor that has me crazy.. I need a new laptop ASAP and was highly considering this one. I still am but completely doing my homework first.

I also don't want ati drivers, since my experience with the 4670's in crossfire on the w90vp was a disaster.. No driver support and it scared me off ati forever. Bad architecture all the way around and it was highly anticipated gaming notebook .. I learned to not buy too quickly until it proves itself.

I have/had 3d on my g73s and found myself disabling it all the time.. Caused more issues and never used it. Prefer 2 D.. I just think the tech is not quite there . Caused many driver failures and driver "recovery" happened often..like a few times a month on my asus .

Hoping to get real owner information here.. I never trust review sites that give a dell five stars. :). Lol.
