Google and Samsung delayed the launch of their new
products, scheduled to be unveiled on October 11, due to
the death of Apple cofounder and ex-CEO Steve Jobs.

That refers to the launch of Samsung's new phone. Has nothing to do with the Series 7 which launched over a month ago. Protip: Launch usually means unveiling in the tech world

I'm a little bit confused right now...
Found this PDF for the german S03, it says 2*2W speakers and Windows 7 Professional... Most shops list it with 2*1,5W and Win 7 HP

Samsung need to fire some people it seems....

I talked to Tigerdirect. They expecting it to be in stock before the end of this month. Looks like Samsung has a big delay, no wonder Amazon removed the pre-order. Well this delay could be a good sign and a bad sign but I guess we wouldn't know which until someone gets a hand on one.

This pdf info is kind of weird. GPU spec of 6750m says G2 on the end, which means (putting it simply) less performance than version without G2 on the end (notebookcheck benchmark list). Also just GDDR3 memory? Both will significantly lower the performance, what a sad advertising game. Trying to secretly chop specs down and make money on it. No doubt this lousy strategy will continue. They must think we are just stupid sheeps. Will see what specs will come worldwide, still checking other brands. In my opinion, if Samsung wants to make it's name in laptops, they should not screw it up now.

    I couldn't agree more.

I was very much attracted by this notebook, thought this is the perfect one, wonderful shape, everything you'd need without being too expensive. I was especially impressed by the audio solution from the first announcement with 2 x 2w & 2w woofer, taking into account that most manufacturers use to bring miserable audio in their laptops for keeping costs down and profit margins up. I thought... look, it's still possible, maybe others would take notice of this, as exactly as Samsung got them do it when launching its smartphones.

They later announced the US model with 2 x 1,5w and no woofer. As I'm from Europe I thought that only the US version is like this. Now the notebook is advertised on a couple of European sites. In some places it's 2 x 1,5w (UK & French official sites), some others have 2 x 2w (the German retailer), while the woofer is completely gone. Don't want to argue further on about the second-rate screen...

What the fc.k are you doing? What's this mish-mash? Don't count on our ignorance, we're not dumb enough to swallow it.

So...Samsung downgraded the specifications? (6650 with DDR3 instead of GDDR5?). I will not buy this notebook then.

Did some research and found that the 6750MG2 doesn't exist, only the 6755G2 exists. The 6750M isn't available in a DDR3 version, only in the GDDR5 version. So that PDF is simply wrong.

Actually G2 means integrated chip that crossfire with another video card. It's like when your running intense demand for graphics the cross fire will work. If your not it will use when integrated but Series 7 never say anything about integration. But as a Samsung rep say before these things can be subjected to change without notice. So who knows.

yeah...if i had it my way id go buy the mbp with the mattescreen and same specs...install windows on it
but i can't justify spending 2k on that

this laptop is suppose to give exactly that for half the price
    expresscache is a nice extra

now...when exactly is it available...i hate to preorder things and not be charged for it right away and have to keep looking in the bank to see if they took the money yet.

I love how ppl can wait a whole year with no info for a mbp refresh while waiting 2 months for something announced with known specs ans previews is unbearable. Just keep in mind that samsung said 2oct for bestbuy and end of october for the rest...

True, but on the other hand, once Apple announces a product refresh, it's clear, concise, and available shortly after. No one seems to be able to get a straight answer on WHAT will be released (besides the BB version), much less when.

I think Samsung is accidentally using the 14" screen model pictures in the galleries for the 15.6" screen model's page. The 15.6" model is supposed to have a number pad. Either they have someone authoring their website with no attention to detail, or I will be very angry if they've removed the number pad. See here for pictures of it with the number pad:

So we have no idea when it's coming at all? What do Samsung say when you ask them, do they just give you no answer? I have had gaming laptops for a while and I've decided to move on and this laptop is perfect, exactly what I was looking for, I don't mind holding out I'm in no rush but I would be nice to know when to expect it. Not sure if I should pre-order from tigerdirect or not.

It's a shame though. I've been looking to this release but Samsung has really botched things so far. I'm still cautiously optimistic that Samsung will get a decent product out to market.

Any other quality laptops out there with similar promising specs?

The Lenovo Y470 is the other laptop that's on my short-list. For about $150, you can add a MATA SSD boot drive; and the system will fly.

But why everyone complains? samsung said that the first model come october 2, this is the BB model. For the others, we can expect (in europe,) the end or half october so i can't speak for the US but for europeans, we need to wait the end of october before complaining...

in europe some retailers are recieving them for the 18/20 instead of end of october (same schedule as the US for the real versions).

the reason for complaining...is that we don't know what will be available...or when even

before the bestbuy model showed up we didnt even know there was going to be a "watered down" model (without expresscache or backlit keyboard)

so for those of us who wanted exactly what samsung is advertising on their website...we don't know if that's coming...or when

i've been considering msi x460 because i dont know if this series 7 laptop will be what i expect it to be anymore.

Actually the BB was said in some announced sites. It was not exactly say who will have it until Best Buy got it since all was given was a model number. It say to not have expresscache, but nothing was say about no backlit. We all thought they all had backlit. Btw first page has the list and so does another post somewhere in this long thread. They Samsung sites shows something different, so I don't know, all I know there was a watered down model.

They say "The screen of this laptop deserves a decent respect. It's bright, juicy, and most importantly - Matt. I would like to express special thanks to the creators who think about the users, rather than a beautiful form, and made a screen from which you can read the information on the sun and do not always see my reflection."

Some I still have hopes for a good display in the non-BB models. :)

But this has to be wrong (or another model for russia...):
    Memory: 4GB DDR3 (1333 MHz)
    Speakers: 2 watt stereo speakers
    2W subwoofer

This review is very enticing...really makes up for the version best buy is selling...

I had some free time the other day and went to check out the BB version and wow that screen is terrible! I'm comparing this to my only laptop which is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS770/W that I purchased from BB in 2005. The SS7 screen made my Sony's screen look so much more clear and vivid.

I think a lot of you guys are expecting "coated" screen performance on contrast and luminosity from a screen that is matte. Its been many years now that everything is glossy around us, and we tend to forget that the advantage of a matte screen comes with a loss of contrast and color saturation.

Hm, I have a Samsung 24" LED Screen which is matte and it has very bright and shiny colors, so I'm hopping to find the same quality in the Series 7...
