Perhaps, but unlike the Samsung, it's possible to actually throw down some cash and buy one.

No sh*t sherlock.
-
Yh, but that's a pc monitor. You can fit more into the monitor than in the thin chassis of the laptop.
I think the screen is going to be great for most people. People that need high quality screens better look elsewhere me thinks. -
Nice find, dp3000. This gave me some hope that the higher-end models have better screens than the BB model. It's like Sony's S series -- the SA/SB/SC models have mediocre screens, but the SE model has a great screen. I'm hoping that's the same case with Samsung's 7 Series.
I'm sure once we find out the higher-end models actually have great screens, everyone will shift their complaints to why it's not 1080p.
-
I'm not too sure. It's labeled as "Xbrite LCD Technology" and did a quick Google search that shows its a WXGA (1280 x 800). One thing I find amazing about this laptop is that it can practically open to lay completely flat. I know most laptop screens do not go back like this.
Here's the specs of the laptop I currently own:
So as you can see...any current laptop will suffice when compared to the one I have lol. I don't even want to bother upgrading with cheap ram and ssd because I also need a new battery as mine goes from 100% - 0% in less than an hour
EDIT
Wow I just noticed I joined back in Dec '08...I guess I must've been researching for a new laptop and never bought one lol... -
i think the benchmarks of this review is not correct, the 15Z has only the 525M NV chip and the sam has the 6750M card, so how the 15Z on the 3DMARK06 has 7317 points and the sam got only 6754 points
-
3DMark06 uses Nvidia Physx, so it will get a higher score because of that...
-
That benchmark is test DirectX9. These cards and gaming now uses DirectX 10 or 11. It can just be a software issue that limits the card to fully perform. But that's my guess.
-
i don`t have any nv cards but i think if the benchmark runs with physx the result will be lower than without physx.
maybe i am wrong here, it is just caught my eye in the review -
Here is a video that shows the looks of the SS7, apparently it's an all-metal case and you can also check some viewing angles
Samsung Series 7 Laptop - YouTube -
The screen in that videos looks pretty good. Maybe Tiger Direct really does have the full version.
-
Wow that has to be one of the corniest interviews I've ever watched.
I saw this in the related videos section. I'm not sure if has been posted already. The very brief angles shown on the screens look great and opposite of what BB carries.

The only reason I can think of for there not being a 1080p screen is gaming. Lower resoluion = better frame rate. Though for software development I'd love to have that option. With that it would be perfect IMHO (well a cup holder might be nice too).
-
To me, the screen looks like the BB version. Around the 0:40 mark, the desktop wallpaper starts looking like a negative film.
-
If it had the tray drive instead of the slot drive... you could have had your cup holder.
-
You do realize its a matte screen right?
-
Look what I just found out in the Microsoft store...
Microsoft Store Online - Samsung Series 7 Notebook (15.6-Inch)
Model number: NP700Z5A-S02US -
cool. you think this is also for EUROPE?
-
That is interesting. It says it is the 15.6" Model with the upgraded stuff but the picture shows no numpad on the keyboard. Think that is just a mistake?
-
It is more likely that the photos shown in there was just a mistake. Because it is the 14" are the ones who don't have a numpad.
-
Aren't there two 15-inch models? If I remember correctly, there's a more expensive model at the price of $1200 with a numberpad. The $1150 has no numberpad, and all the keys a little more spread out than the 14 inch model.
-
u get this when u pre order from ms
Pre-Order
Estimated ship date: 11/01/2011 -
According to samsung's website that model has a numberpad, and it's the one with 15" case with the 15.6" screen
Features and Specifications - Series 7 15.6" Notebook | Samsung Office -
hmm... I wouldn't bet on it. I saw some videos on all four models, and it looks like they made a distinction of the two higher end models with and without the numberpad.
-
Nah the $1150 model has number pad as well. The 15 inch screen model (in 14 inch body with no number pad) is different entirely. No one has prices or specs for that model yet. Only for the 15.6 and 14.
-
if this waiting will take to long I will have to take dell x15z... what do you think? or will samsung be so much better?
is this samsung really even smaller than 15z dell? -
If I remember a samsung rep say they pending on those. They not officially announced for release yet.
-
When you click on pre-order on the microsoft link, it estimates delviery for November 8. Another clue as to when the laptop will come out!
-
I get November 1...
Nov. 8 is for the coupon thingy. -
isTHIS ALSO FOR EUROPE??
nobady answered me before.. -
Where in Europe? Each country has different time of release.
-
i know in my country will be the last
--> Slovenia.
But I will buy online- usually Germany...
Please help me to choose between this Samsung 7 15,6 or fujitsu t901 tablet pc..
samsung is smaller, bigger screen, has graphic and more powerfull I think.
But fujitsu is really more multi-practical, has touchscreen, second bay for second battery, disk, projector.... 13 inch, 2kg.
LIFEBOOK T Series - Tablet PCs - Product catalog - Fujitsu
i just can not decide.. help please: -
Some stores in Germany have the S01 in preorder... scroll back some pages and you'll find a post with some links...
But the weird thing is that in Europe the most common price is around 1400, which is about $1900!!!
After VAT of course... but having the MacBook Pro 15" in Italy at about 1700 it is a bit overpriced...
Someone knows anything about international warranty of the product bought in USA? I'm thinking of buying in USA and ship it to my country... for 500 to me it's worth a think...
For the second part... how could you compare a (thin & light) laptop with a tablet? They'll cover two distinct market sector..
-
The S01 is CHF 1300 in switzerland (about $1450). That's kind of weird, because usually electronics in switzerland are way more expensive than in the rest of europe.
-
It appeared also in some stores in Italy... from €1250 to 1350 for the S01... in every case it's more expensive than in USA!
-
It's cost comes down to how much it cost to import the item and the tax charged on it. But if you can find a company that's willing to ship it to you that seems fine. But international warranty is difficult to find, well it comes to sacrifice warranty for cheaper price or get the product in your country or country that's available closest to you at a high price. Either way is a win or lose both ways.
-
Samsung offer international warranty for some countries. I know if i buy the series 7 in the USA and import it to the UK, i still get the standard one year warranty.
-
Any insight into overheating/lack of overheating? It's already out in Germany...
-
Really, because I've read else where about people having trouble getting Samsung to honor their warranty. They claim each countries uses different hardware that they don't have or something.
-
I know everyone has seen pictures before, however I went to BB today to take a look and to be honest, I really like the laptop. It has a pretty solid keyboard and body. The trackpad seemed to be a bit odd though, like it was overly too sensitive or some of the settings were a bit off.
-
Thanks for sharing! I can't wait for the full version to release! Anyone know if Microsoft store still has the free 4GB Xbox 360 promo going?
-
If i'm correct that ended Sept 3.
-
Sorry, no one knows. You should go on their facebook page and ask the sales rep. They usually give an estimate of when the laptop will be released in your country and/or region.
-
Looks like they lowered the price for this week? I don't think I saw it that low when I went in a few days ago.
-
if only that best buy model had the 6750m
i can live without a backlit keyboard and expresscache(i could just upgrade to ssd a few months later) -
i wonder how much it'd cost to import a 15" (14inch screen) model
that'd be the perfect size for me. -
Still waiting on reviews of the displays for non-BB models. Also am curious to hear how well Samsung's warranty service is.
-
is really in german already with express cache and backlit?
-
The "real", high end model of the 700Z5A is in sotck for the swiss at digitec online shop.
It begins to be available around the world (at least, Europe: German, Swiss...)! -
awesome, that means i'll have my laptop tomorrow if everything goes right
