They felt sorry for the Thais due to the worst flooding in 50 years (kidding aside, truly a serious thing --- I've been to Asia). Moreover, Thailand is #1 in terms of hard drives and Samsung has to stay on their good side.

Only messing with you, of course! Good luck and the machine is right there with the Dell XPS 15z (sans 1080 screen anyway). Good luck to you!!!

I had same question and Got more expensive version, it seems this one comes with subwoofer while the other one dosen't I could be wrong but I saw some pictures earlier that did not have subwoofer. What really pisses me off is that sammy didn't include MiniVGA (it seems thats what is) port adapter as euro models come with it.

I couldn't find a msata port, maybe its well hidden or on the other side of the mainboard, don't know.

And yes mine has a subwoofer, it seems to be something like 1W or so, so it doesn't sound like a real subwoofer.

pretty sure the 8gb of express cache does not use a msata port. its soldered directly to the motherboard.

after a couple days of use i've run into one problem.
Does anyone elses screen completely freak out when playing a youtube video?

this just started occuring last night but whenever a new video would start the screen would flicker, turn completly green, then shut off. after a few moments the screen would start back up with a windows message saying the screen drivers failed but were recovered.

nothing to drastic but defiantly something to note. I assume its a drive/firmware issue but you can only seem to update your drivers through samsung not amd.
Is there any workaround for this?

I ordered the i7 version from dabs.ie before it disappeared off their site, they still claim my order is valid so it will be interesting to see whether the laptop arrives.

Anyone in the UK/Ireland managed to get the i7 version yet?

    Hi

The version I ordered comes is the top end model and comes with an i7 processor, can you confirm that you will still be receiving this from Samsung? as I mentioned before this model has been removed from your site, the only model currently available to order is the i5 version below.

    Thanks,

    Dabs Ireland - Samsung 700Z5A Core i5-2430 8GB RAM 750GB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit 15.6" Laptop (NP700Z5A-S02UK)

Seems to be a flash/driver issue... I have no problems so far with flash.
Have you tried reinstalling flash/video drivers?

I just got back from spending about half and hour or so at the local Best Buy, and here are my thoughts. The screen didn't bore a hole in my head. It is not the best screen in the world but will be fine for me. Secondly, while the hinge seemed crisp and nice while the screen was up, when I closed the lid and tilted the laptop back (Hinge to the table, opening upwards) there was some play in the monitor. The laptop did not seem to stay fully closed when I tilted it back. I assume this is only due to the Best Buy floor model being abused but it was slightly uncomforting. Saying that, I plan to get the S04 edition. Can someone please confirm my suspicion about the hinge just being abused, and could somebody clarify the confusion above me about the subwuffer. I am under the impression the S03 and S04 both have them while the Best Buy version does not?

This may be weird, but which model do you have. The Best Buy one doesn't have a backlit keyboard. If you have a model that it is included in, I can't help sorry.

My guess would be something is wrong with a cable inside. I wouldn't not be able to help you. Someone with the actual laptop in front of them might be able to help though.

It's a Corsair Force 3 120GB. I'm using Linux so I have like 100GB free, but in Windows it'd probably be more like 80.

I asked this a while ago, and didn't get a response, but maybe more people know now.

Can someone tell me what model touchpad is in the Samsung? I am using Linux and it is being a little finicky so I am suspecting the touchpad isn't the same model as I thought.

I wish I could tell you where to look in Windows, but I can't. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks a ton in advance

So I just ran Skyrim for 10 minutes on this machine. The launcher recommends to set everything to low, but I set everything on high, and it runs pretty smooth!

I'll give fraps a little run soon.

Yeah the drivers might possibly tell you what the model touchpad is.

It'd be in Device Manager > Human Input Devices or something along those lines. I'm not sure if that'd say the model though.

My problem is that I don't know what drivers to use in Linux.

I think I set the brightness dimmer in easy settings to the highest setting first and then started using the keyboard keys.
