Well all manufacturers are gonna switch from netbooks to ultrabooks sooner or later. This just confirms that Samsung is eager to compete for their share of the notebook market...

    Congratulations with your purchase!
Would you mind trying pressing in the zone between keyboard and screen hinge, above the 789 keys... Does your machine flex 'till touching the table underneath? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the EURO models or a global design flaw... Thank you!

it doesnt work for me for some odd reason =/

EDIT: doesnt have to do anything with the trackpad because didnt want to spam this thread. but youtube video quality is horrible! is there a fix to this? starcraft runs flawlessly on medium settings. played for a little over an hour and didnt the slightest touch of warmness at all!

Strange, also in the demo unit I saw the touchpad worked as stated by Ganxxta...

For the video quality, try changing video. Maybe it's a flaw with that particular item. Also, try loading the high definition version, they're independent from the machine...

For the warmness... the unit I saw was probably on for the entire day (I went in the shop at 7:30PM), and it was absolutely cold, the only areas that were slightly warm to the touch was the exhaust port near the screen hinge... neither the bottom was uncomfortably warm... But the demo unit runs 99,99% of the time idle :D

Got mine At the MS store and thanks to a 25% off discount. I saved a ton of money.
I love it so far. Screen isnt that bad ( i use the sharp setting). One thing that does kinda bug me is the edge by the wrist rest. ( my arm catches it).
Best trackpad i have used on Windows notebook.
Swapped a ssd in there installing windows now

I've had the laptop for 2 days now and it's been fantastic

    Couple of notes:
1.The palmrest edge is a bit sharp
    2. Haven't had any problems with youtube or BSODs. I set the plugin-container.exe on powering saving right off the bat
    3. Trackpad is really bad out of the box. After disabling some of the gestures and tweaking it, it's fine.
    4. Screen isn't super-duper IPS level fantastic, but coming from a 720p, glossy HP dv6-1360us screen, it's pretty good.

Going on my 4th day of use.

I purchased from the Microsoft retail store outlet here locally in the US. The promotion is 25% off your purchase of $1000 or more. So after tax and fees, the total was about $925.

    Pros:
It's pretty fast. Probably more computer than I need.
I actually like the keyboard. It's got a good feel to it.
Experienced about 3 second load times coming out of sleep mode with ExpressCache.

    Cons:
Screen isn't that great. It isn't as terrible as some of the posts in this thread though. But it could use some improvement.
The seam on the palm rest drives me CRAZY. It's very noticeable and annoying.
Had to install some non-licensed 3rd party video drivers for the 6750M so I could get Cinebench and 3d Mark to run properly. I can't vouch for games because I don't really play them.
It still feels kind of cheap, plasticky.
The trackpad sucks, period. Use a mouse.

I bought the supposedly last one from uni village in Seattle. The stores won't display this models and the sales will tell you its sold out if you ask. Call the store and ask them if they have the Samsung series 7 notebook for $1149 before making the trip.

Out of curiosity, why does everyone seem to dislike the trackpad? I tried it at Best Buy and it seemed to be the perfect level of friction. Furthermore, it seemed responsive (to me, although I could be wrong), certainly better than the UX31 trackpad.

Just checking to be on the safe side: the user manual from samsung site states that power input is 100-240vac, 50/60Hz.
There will be no problems using the us version in eu, right? =)

I have a question! I'm trying to order the S04 model from COMPUSA (for some reason on that site it's listed as S02), but when I proceed to the check out, Canada is not on the list of countries to choose from. Is this an error or do they not ship to Canada?

I was one of the early adopters who bought the Series 7 from Amazon for $1149 before all these crazy sales began.

It's a great laptop and I get many compliments as I carry it around campus for my classes. The form factor is excellent, and believe it or not, it fits really nicely in a 14.1'' sleeve that I bought at Office Depot for only $13. It it heavier than it looks, though, but not too bad I suppose.

The screen doesn't bother me that much, but the trackpad is kind of annoying. I really like the size of it, but I'm one of those people who use two hands on a trackpad when navigating so I would much prefer separate, dedicated buttons. Multi-touch gestures work fine. Yes, the palm rest area is kind of sharp, but I try not to use it on tables that are too high; no problems when typing on the lap.

To answer the above person's question, yes I upgraded the ram to 8GB by removing the stock 2GB and upgrading to 4GB module. The WEI RAM score went from 7.5 to 7.6, and the Graphics/Gaming graphics scores one went from 3.something to 6.7 each!

I tried many games and they run all fluidly. I am currently playing only Skyrim on High settings with 0AA and 16xAF @ 1600x900. Frames are usually in the upper 40's, dropping down to low 40's in the cities and mid/high 50's in dungeons.

    -------
What really bothers me above everything is that the screen on my laptop flickers. Okay, it not really flickering per se, but the brightness increases/decreases by a little automatically even when auto brightness is off. When a dark background/picture is on the screen, the screen gets a little darker and when a lighter thing goes on the screen, the screen gets a little brighter. For example, with a dark desktop wallpaper, and simply opening the start menu makes the screen get brighter.

This is REALLY annoying when websurfing b/c I could be scrolling on one page with dark/bright contrasting graphics and scrolling up/down would change the brightness up/down constantly. Again, its not ALOT but its noticibly annoying. Note this ONLY happens when on battery power, making me think its either a driver/config problem or some kind of physical defect. I read a few pages back someone mentioning its "dynamic contrast" or something, and I wonder if anyone knows where to turn this option off? I have a few days before my 30 days are up, and I'm trying my best not to return the laptop to Amazon and get an exchange.

Just wanted to put my thoughts out there for you guys.

Kish did you have to do anything to get it to start games with the Radeon card over the HD graphics?

Skyrim only detects the HD Intel card for me at the moment.

I don't have the machine yet, so can't help u by concrete direct advice. BUT I do know that what u are experiencig has to do with power saving by reducing the high contrasts. Same thing happens on my LCD projector when it's on a ECO (power saving) mode. Try searching within your 'power' or 'display' options and disable any 'power saving options' while on battery power, if u haven't done this already...

I'm using the Catalyst 11.11a beta drivers directly from the AMD website and it works, whereas the 11.11 regular drivers (barely released 11/16) wouldn't install, directing me to go to the manufacturer's website for drivers.

As you can see in the pic below, my Skyrim also detects the Intel HD 3000 graphics, but i'm certain the game runs on the 6750M; there's no way that I can get such high frames with integrated graphics. I've also assigned TSEV.exe to run as "high performance" under AMD Switchable Graphics settings.

The frames generally depend on what's on the screen; but they are mostly consistent in the 40's/50's:

    -----------
Thanks to all for trying to help me on the dynamic brightness/contrast issue I am having. Unfortunately the Samsung Easy Settings has no options:

I also played around with Windows Power settings and no luck.

    @Kish:
There are dynamic contrast options in Intel & the AMD Driver, in the AMD driver its where video optimizations are and in the Intel Driver in the "media" tab.

Hi, I just installed 11.11a drivers, but I don't the get option to access the CCC at all. I can't change any options. I just get a pop=up that says "Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Can someone please tell me what I did wrong?

    Thanks,

    Hey guys,

I am a bit confused about the series numbers in UK. What is the difference between S02 and S01, that are offered at the UK market atm? Is S02 a good option (as it looks as S03 US, when you compare the characteristics....but these sites often do not know what is inside anyway).

Thanks in advance for the info!

I'm currently using an Asus UL30VT, which has very poor vertical angles, but it still works fine for me, and I am guessing that the Samsung will not be worse than this, it will prob be better. I really doubt the screen is as bad as people say, they prob just expect too much.
