You first use the Samsung Recovery Solution to make a backup DVD with all the drivers and software. Then, after reinstalling Windows you run that backup which starts the Samsung Easy Software Manager. This lists everything that is available and you select what to to install.

What exactly is the point of downloading all those drivers from Samsung site to a USB prior to installing the SSD? When you install the new windows on the SSD, does that automatically install the drivers? Pardon my ignorance, I am new to this and appreciate all the info!

I understand where you wanna go... The viewing angles are not great, and you do get the gradient "feeling" if you change angles. So I guess all the criticism given to the old model is still valid. However I can live with it, I used the .icm profile from the other "owners" thread and it helps a lot. -
Don't now if samsung CA site has the drivers, however I found out the Austrian site have them all in multi language here
Then after you're online just install from easy software manager. -

Argh waiting for this laptop to go on sale is pure torture, I'm stuck with a dell E6400 and I absolutely HATE IT!
-
any chance one of you guys with a new IB s7 can run a benchmark test on the CPU?
PassMark PerformanceTest - PC benchmark software -
-
Called around and finally found a couple in store (Future Shop) here in BC and had the guy lock one up for me. Still not online.
-
I will look into the Easy Software Pack to see if it provides something else I need though. -

Leave that one alone - for some reason that screw was so tightly screwed in place that I stripped the living 5hi7 out of it!!!
I thought I ruined my laptop but then tried to take the case off anyway and sure enough the back came off. I can still replace the RAM this way if I ever wanted to, but I'll never get the quick RAM cover off.
If anyone else sees this problem post here - I wonder if it was just my notebook that had the uber-tight screw holding the RAM cover in place. -
So how is it that Norway and Canada have this Korean laptop before the United States =/

I really hate that Samsung switched from the 750gb 7200rpm hdd to 1TB 5400.

8,534, sweet!!!
The 2675QM in the previous generation averaged 6,460 (based on 112 samples) -

Now a second US store listing the NP700Z5C-S02US, which apparently has a 750GB HDD, not 1TB
Cost Central selling for $1305 free ship:
Samsung COREI7-2.3G/8G/15.6INCH/750G (NP700Z5C-S02US) - Laptops / Notebooks -
Might as well get the 17'3 with a better screen for 90 USD more at BestBuy/Amazon once they are at that price again.

Will the samsung 830 256gb ssd fit in the laptop?

I had the opportunity to play with the 14inch Sandy bridge model at J&R and yesterday I must says its not heavy at all and the screen looks nice, since I will be coming from 1288X something screen. Can't wait for IB to come out.

So, I just picked one of these up by "accident" yesterday at Futureshop. Went in to buy the Z5A without a clue that the Z5C was even on the market. Turns out the downtown Vancouver FS doesn't even have stock of the Z5A anymore, even though it's listed on the website and the Z5C is not.
It's a nice unit, with lust-inducing look and feel. I thought it would be ideal for me, as I'll be spending almost 2 months travelling to and from the UK this summer for work...something light enough to travel with and carry on my 2-mile walk to and from the London studio daily, but powerful enough to actually entertain me when trapped in my hotel room by the Olympic crush.
But, I'm about to take it back today. I can live with the display viewing angle issues, but I can't live with the stupid Canadian bi-lingual keyboard! And I damn sure don't want to be tearing apart a brand new unit to install a $100+ replacement top panel for the US keyboard.
I reckon I'll wait until the US model is released and pick it up at a Best Buy across the border, but that means I won't have it for my next trip to London. -
Any idea when the 15inch will be available in the UK?

Why is this not listed on Samsung's website yet if it's already available to buy?

So I downloaded the Performance Test to have a look what I would get in my Sandy Bridge system:

Is it just me, or are these ridiculously lower than this new IB model?
This is my laptop
Samsung NP700Z5A-S05UK Chronos
Display: 15.6" LED HD+ ( 1600 x 900, Non Gloss, 300 nit)
Processor: Intel® Core i7-2675QM Processor 2.2 Ghz to 3.1 Ghz
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6750 Graphics (1GB GDDR5)
Storage: 1TB with 8GB ExpressCache
Memory: 8 GB 1333MHz DDR3
Operating System: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 Bit)
I bought the NP700Z5A-S05UK 3 weeks ago, and have had nothing but problems with the graphics (I still can't get certain programs to recognise the AMD GPU or play Youtube videos in HD..) Do you guys think it's worth me returning this and waiting for the IB model to hit retailers in the UK OR are the increases in performance not worth the trouble?
I only paid £734 after cashback, and i'm not sure how I would go about returning it (I think it has to be faulty to be returned) Should I just be happy with what I have?
Your advice is much appreciated -

Does anyone know what the temp1 is when running speedfan on the Z5C? It is always ~10C above GPU temperature and gets up to 80C while gaming. When it does reach 80C, games start to show artifacts. Any clues?

Complain about the graphics card not switching properly
-
So I returned my Z5C unit yesterday. I miss it already, goofy Canadian bi-lingual keyboard and all.
-
-
Went back to Futureshop and bought my old unit back (hoping SharpKeys software could mitigate my keyboard issues).
What was cool was I got an "open box" $50 discount even though they knew I was the guy what opened it. They said it was already booked back into the system as a return, so enjoy. Or I could get the last new one they had in stock and pay full price.
The other good news is that using SharpKeys for remapping the left and right "\|" keys to shift and enter respectively, and putting "\|" up on F12 does the trick, or at least well enough to make it tolerable. -
Yeah it's an open box, I opened it!! Now where's my discount... -
-
My friend at ingram micro just email me and said they are expecting stock for us model early june but no definite date, I don't understand why is this delayed in US

Does anyone know where I stand on returning it and getting my money back in regards to the graphics issue; does it class as being faulty?
Thanks for your advice. -
