Is anyone using WiDI with SS9?

I'm trying to decide if WiDi might be a partial desktop/docking solution and how to deploy for big-screen use at home. I've ready complaints that the WiDi used in the Series 9 has some compatibility issues.

    Thanks!

The Series 9 has Intel graphics, chipset and WiFi card so it should handle WiDi OK. The only reason I can think of for problems is that some Series 9 (eg the older X3As and my X4C) have sub-standard WiFi performance.

Can you give some specific links to the S9 WiDi problems?

I've only seen a couple of complaints where WiDi specifically did not work...

Samsung Series 9 connects but PTV2000 drops connection - NETGEAR Forums

I guess I was more hoping to hear from those that were able to get it working and get a sense of how well it performed as I've yet to see anyone comment on the SS9 WiDi. I was initially looking at the Samsung Central station product as a docking solution, only to find out the Series 9 UWB is not compatible and requires a dongle that doesn't fit the SS9.

It just makes me uneasy when two Samsung products that are flagship in their respective categories don't work together.

Yes and it works wonderfully well. I connect through a Netgear WiDi box....into a Panasonic 50" and it is super. It isn't as good on my series 9 version 1, but on my series 9 VERSION 2 15", it is super. The response is almost immediate, when you make a move on the screen of the laptop, it is probably as a rsult of the better Intel 6235 AND the graphics upgrade from Intel 3000 to 4000....
you should be happy with the new one (version 2)

The faster response time is actually due to Ivy Bridge. Ivy Bridge supports the newer WiDi 3.1 which reduces latency and enables 1080p @ 60fps

Sorry if you find this question too obvious from a newbee on WiDi.

You mention the Netgear Widi box to connect with your Panasonic 50". Is this a necessary gear needed for setting up WiDi using Series 9 (Ivy Bridge)? I hope to connect with Samsung Smart TV 40" which displays WiDi option within its menu. Do I still need to buy this WiDi box? Appreciate the help.

I have no first-hand experience of WiDi but my understanding that a TV with built-in WiDi does not need to use a separate WiDi box.
