Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find an answer.
I would like to create a clonezilla image of a newly bought NP900X3D (Windows 8) to be able to factory reset it. My understanding is that about 50-60 GB are taken up on the SSD, and clonezilla might compress to about 50%, so would a 32GB sd card be enough to hold the image?
The alternative is of course a bigger card (more expensive) or a hard drive (bigger, more expensive). Given that this is supposed to be an installation medium to be stored away safely and hopefully not used much, a memory card seems the better option.
Does anyone have experience of how big the clonezilla image will be?
Thanks.

Sorry for not being much help, but wouldn't it be simpler to make the clone, store the image on the hard-drive, see how big it is and purchase an appropriately-sized sd card?

Ah, I see. Well, memory cards are more reliable than HDD's since they have no mechanical parts, but really, they're so dirt-cheap i don't think it's even an argument...
Either way, clonezilla compresses pretty well so long as the data you're backing up isn't already compressed.
So movies, audio, photos, typically compress very bad. Other types of files compress pretty well. Are you sure the system takes 50-60GB? That sounds like quite a lot for a fresh install. My Windows 8 installation on a fully-installed machine takes up 21.3GB. I'd say you're very safe with a 32GB card unless you have media data stored (movies, audio, photos). -
Cards might be cheap but if a 32GB card isn't enough, it would be more economical to buy a hard drive than buying a 64GB card.
And yes, as far as I understand, this model's pre-installation is quite big with all the recovery partitions, maybe hibernate partition and whatnot, that's why I'm asking. -

Buy a HDD. In fact, buy at least 500GB. Use the HDD for routine backups after you create the cloned image for archive purposes.

I believe the samsung recovery partitions will fit onto a 32GB card/thumb drive (maybe 16, but that might be too tight). I'm not sure if F4 will support restore from sd though so I would go usb. I have not used clonezilla in a uefi setup either, there may be some tricks to do the reimage (secure boot?).

Ok, maybe I'll just save the recovery partition on an sd card. If I understand it correctly, this should be everything needed to reinstall a system in case of a disc crash/new drive installation.
