It's listed on the official Samsung website with an incorrect date. Just choose the VGA driver with version 8.940

    Hashcat (decrypting hashes).
But nevermind, it does work now.
What would have taken 22 hours with the cpu is now finnished in 2 hours.

I have gone to the samsung website for my model (NP700Z5A-S0AUS), but the VGA update for my model and a few other similar models is 8.863.1.2000 - the one I already have installed - not the new 8.940. I did find the 8.940 listed on the support site for the NP700Z5B, but I think that uses a different card, doesn't it?

Can I install the one meant for the NP700Z5B, or should I look elsewhere?

I have the same issue, with my NP700Z5A-S01UK. All the drivers posted to the Samsung support page seem to have the same version number, even though some are posted with a newer date than others.

I've also never had Samsung Easy Update give me any updates, and Samsung Easy Software Manager only ever wants to update itself or the BIOS, so I think I'm missing out on some updates.

Another problem here with the graphics...

I tried to use my LED TV with the laptop through HDMI and i can see the desktop in the TV, but when i change the resolution from the laptop (1600x900) to 1920x1080 of my LED TV, everything gets messy.
The empty bin goes far beyong the corner, and the same with the other corners ( i cannot see the start option from windows). Its like that program thinks the screen i larger...

In different resolutions the same, all gets messy. Only in the samsung original panel resolution (1600x900), i get the desktop and folders in order. Centered, but with black bands until the frames of the TV. It doesnt fill the whole screen.

I had this issue long time ago with myold desktop. When i installed catalayst new drivers, there were by defauld upcaled. There was one option in catalyst to solve that, but here i can only change all this with the Intel Video Control Panel.

I tried so many options already with no success.

    Any help??

PD. I tried in my neighbour´s TV and he has a diferent TV brand and the problem is the same.

Sounds like your best option is to stick with 1600x900 and hit the aspect button on your TV remote. Set it to "H-Fill" and the whole screen will be used (at the expense of additional desktop real estate, unfortunately)

    Thank you Blakeross.

I thought about that, but the quality of the image is not so good. Even in games the same thing happen and I'm loosing options in games (they are normally at the corners).

Don't we have another solution for the ones who wants to plug the laptop in a TV?? Is anybody having the same issue??

I am trying to get OpenCL running on the GPU but it only finds the CPU.
Did you do anything specific to make OpenCL run on the GPU?

    @menko

I also use my TV as second display. When setting the resolution to 1080p I had the same problem. What you have to do is right-click on your desktop and select "graphic properties" or something like that which opens an intel application. Then, under "Display" navigate to "General Properties" and Select your TV under "Display". Under Scaling you can now select "user specified" and play around with the settings until your desktop fits your TV
(I use 65|65). Keep in mind that these settings may be called differently in your language. I just translated them from German.

    Thank you!! Better than nothing.

Do you notice too that the letters and the image quality is not good??

I think just erasing any kind of scaling will help, but right now there is no better option...

    Problem solved.

Ir was two settings to change.

One in the intel panel and set to non-scal.
The second option is hidden into the tv menu (truste me, it has hard to find some settings in these modern tv's), and set it also to non-scall.

Both options for stalling were on and make a big mixed of results.

Now the LED TV 1080P smooth to go on HDMI...

Hope this helps for other owners of this laptop.

So there is no update for the NP700Z5A models yet? The driver for this model was updated on Feb 20, 2012, and it's 8.863.1.2000. The update date is 1 day after the 8.940 driver in the NP700Z5B.

Greetings, new member here :) Bought one of these gorgeous NP700Z5A-S0AUS models at the Microsoft Store... sad to learn of this issue when I got it home. Need to decide within the coming week if Im going to have to return it.
There are 67 pages in this thread now... really tiring trying to catch up through all of it :(

    Questions:
    • Has a fix been posted (or promised to come) from Samsung on this issue?
    • Has an alternate fix or workaround been posted?

    Thanks so much!

Update to the latest VGA driver and everything driver related. You don't need to update unrelated software if you don't want to. Then give it a test.
According to other people posting it has been fixed.

    Welcome to forum btw.
Post an update when you can and others would be happy to help.

I went ahead and installed the 8.940 driver found under the NP700Z5B section on the Samsung site.

I tested Google Earth with OpenGl option, switched to High Performance from CCC, and on GPUZ it's showing GPU Load now for AMD Radeon HD 6750M.

    Hi guys,

Sorry for the long post, and perhaps the wrong place! :)

I have attached a print-screen of the catalyst version.
Also, according to the software manager I have the 8.863.1.2000 graphics drivers. Software manager does not indicate an update for my graphics drivers, and the version listed on Samsung's website is the same as the one I have.

The problem is that GPU Caps viewer identifies the 6750 on the 'GPU' tab but the OpenGL and OpenCL tabs have the integrated graphics and the i7 processor, respectively, listed only.
The OpenGL tests run on the Intel graphics card and the OpenCL tests do not run at all because of no GPU found. I have also installed the AMD APP opencl sdk and all the examples cannot find the GPU and run on the CPU.
I need to use the GPU for OpenCL programming and I do not know how to fix this since according to some of you, OpenCL does work with the AMD graphics card.

I have set all the relevant executables(caps viewer and the samples) to run on high performance but still nothing.

    Any help would be useful.

    Thanks

EDIT: Just as a note:I have tested MW3 and it runs smoothly in medium settings on the GPU.

You need to download the new update 8.940. Which model do you even have?
Because that update fixes all the problems.
Apparantly they removed the update...I having trouble finding it again.

    Edit: NVM found it.
Samsung Just go to software and drivers and download 8.940.

Once it switches 6750M the OpenGL works better. To see if you have 6750M working, download GPU-Z Application - Link

I did end up installing the newest drivers from this page on my NP700Z5A-S0AUS and they installed just fine. I also use photoshop quite a bit, and all the opengl features work well.

    I followed the instructions here:

GPU, OpenGL support | Photoshop CS4, CS5 to make sure opengl was selected in the options and then tested the zoom continuously feature to make sure it worked. It did!

So the newest drivers from the NP700Z5B support page work fine and seem to enable opengl use with the graphics card. You may also want to ensure that the programs that you want to use the graphics card are set to high performance in the catalyst control center switchable graphics section.

It wasn't listed for my model (NP700Z5A-S0AUS) either. I just downloaded the ones from the page XtremeProject linked to a couple of posts earlier. It worked with my machine no problem - you probably won't have any trouble either. And even if you do, you can wipe away the newer driver and reinstall the old one. Here is a direct link to the zip file of the 8.940.0.000 drivers from samsung's website:

    http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...02/20120228191136307/VGA_AMD_8.940.0.0000.ZIP

It shouldn't matter since technically we all have the same laptop. Maybe less ram or different OS but the main hardware is the same. Plus why not try, you can always remove and install old drivers if it didn't work.

Thank you guys, but still in trouble ! ! !

The thing is (as u can see in the attached images):

1- Photoshop still uses de Intel Graphic card for GPU.

2- CCC doesn´t let me save new settings for switchable graphics - When I press Apply they revert back immediately to Not Assigned settings??!!!!

    Any suggestion is very appreciated.

Hi guys, just decided to join the forums because I have been following this issue, being an owner of the 700Z5A-S04US.

I have so far only read a small portion of the entire thread which I decided would take far to long to read through for the information I would need, so I have decided to be a bit more direct and, admittedly, a bit lazier. Plus, I am quite a newbie when it comes to computer tech.

Has the OpenGL issue been resolved by the driver update from Samsung? I recall from one forum that someone discovered that an update from his Easy Software Manager may have solved his issues. I would love to know since I have been searching for potential solutions to some of these issues and want crank out a few more frames when playing games. Thanks. :)

EDIT: Another issue I have noticed. Even Chrome, which I run on power-saving settings, sometimes runs poorly, but this behavior is inconsistent. Ironically, when I was searching the AMD website for drivers, Chrome was particularly sluggish. I am not joking.

EDIT 2: Just an interesting thing...On the AMD driver page, it is noted that the drivers for the 6600M/6700M series do not work or apply for computer which employ switchable graphics. Is that still true?

I would try completely uninstalling Catalyst Control Center and all the amd drivers using drive sweeper. Reboot and then install the new drivers and see if anything changes.

Hold on, I just went looking for drivers under the Samsung site and I seem to have found a driver update for the card; it's listed as the 8.863.1.2000. Is this an improvement over previous drivers? It was dated Feb 17, 2012. Perhaps I already have the latest drivers and I can't expect much more, since I bought this machine early February.

Can you follow the instructions on this page, or do you not see some of these options?

I also think running drive sweeper will uninstall everything you need it to, anyway. You could even run drive sweeper in safe mode if you wanted to. Your can then reboot and install the new drivers.

Photoshop does recognize the graphics card with the new drivers. I attached a screenshot of the settings panel.

    I also like this laptop.
I bought it for flight simulator X-Plane - but even with new drivers it does not work with AMD card.
Samsung is not serious about his work! The new driver is not working properly. In power saving mode the battery is working with AMD card.
The control panel does not save your settings. Moreover - the laptop does not understand what is configured in the Control Panel!
When operating on battery power while watching Youtube videos in Full HD 1080 - hangs and reboots. The reason - the failure of the video driver.

Sorry if the problem is resolved - will need to sell the laptop.
Already regret that I did not take the MacBook Pro.

Edit: The display driver itself won't be updated. Only the AMD App SDK platform.

@rsh_NR: I also had that problem then I got this laptop. The only thing that helped was reinstalling Windows using the Recovery Partition.

The PROBLEM with a DRIVER fix is that you may only be able to use the driver from Samsung for correct OpenGL usage. The default AMD drivers certainly would not contain the Samsung-specific fix unless Samsung provides AMD with the code.

For now 8.940 is the newest official driver. We will see wether an update of the AMD driver will alter the functionality of correct OpenGL switching. Maybe the problem were the Intel drivers.

It makes me ponder if Samsung will be smart enough to include manual switching for its new gen notebooks with AMD GPUs.

Maybe they are even smarter and won't use AMD GPUs at all to avoid problems.

I hope they use the Kepler cores instead of rebranded Fermi cores.

    Hi guys,

So I finally pulled the trigger on the Samsung 700Z3A after reading this forum for months, and it arrived today. So far, so good, though I haven't been messing around with it that much and it could still blow up in my face. However, it is a beauty and compared to other chiclet keyboards this one is really nice.

I read through the entire thread, though forgot most of it again, and I've noticed that most people posting here mention having the 15.6 inch model which has a different graphics card from the 14 inch one.

Has it been confirmed that the 8.940 driver update will work on the 14 inch model?
