Recently I tried to upgrade the 128 msata by buying a new 240 from amazon. Before I installed the new ssd, I created a recovery image and a backup using samsung recovery utility. Now I installed the new msata and run recovery once more but when I get to the part where I choose what date to restore, my recover button doesn't work. I mean I can click it and the animation button does show it press but nothing happens. recovery.JPG Any help is appreciate because I am now stuck without a working laptop.

Did you make a backup of the whole SSD including the partition structure or just the contents of the C: partition. You won't be able to restore the partition contents onto a new SSD.

Perhaps the easiest way is to use the disk copy option in Samsung recovery solution. For this you will need either a mSATA to USB adapter or an mSATA to 2.5" adapter + 2.5" to USB adapter. So put back your 128GB SSD until you get one of these devices.

ah, would the copy disk option in samsung recovery solution be able to also copy the partition structure along with the recovery partition itself?

The Copy Disk feature clones all partitions, including Recovery. Obviously the target drive must be large enough (an issue for those cloning a large HDD to an SSD).

Alternatively, use the Recovery feature to create a bootable factory image backup (enable the Create Boot Disk option). This backup must be to a removable USB flash drive, not an HDD. (32GB for most models. SanDisk are generally not compatible because they act as fixed drives).

This backup is a self-contained Recovery with Factory Image, which can be used to re-image the original disk or any other disk, including all partitions, with working Recovery and factory Windows installation.

This is what many users here do when they replace the factory drive, because it also makes for a great backup in itself.

I believe the copy disk is a cloning tool, although I haven't personally used it.

I'm not sure how it handles the increase in size but you can always adjust things manually afterwards. Note that if you move the recovery partition(s) then SRS probably won't be able to restore the factory image. However, this doesn't matter if you have kept the original SSD intact.
