Good trick, unfortunately no luck. Guess I will convert it to an htpc.

That's very inconsiderate of Samsung to change the connector.

I believe the display unit is glued together so getting it apart isn't going to be easy. However, given that people are selling replacement LCD panels then disassembly must be feasible.

It is not easy. The metal frame (with the samsung logo) is glued on top of the panel. It also covers the screws for the plastic piece over the hinges. I was able to bend the bottom edge of the frame up and remove that cover gaining access to the display cable and its connection to the panel. The hard part will be bending the frame back, but it is very thin. I wish I could just buy a replacement frame, but samsungparts does not appear to sell it alone. There is a breakout for the camera that I'm not sure I can reattach either but I am ok losing that.

Used harness is on the way, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The metal frame is the display bezel which is available as a spare part. However, I wouldn't be willing to pay that price. Unfortunately, as you have found out, there is little potential for this part to be recovered from a dead computer and resold.

BTW, I see that samsungparts.com have now got a much reduced parts range for the X3B and X3C (I haven't checked the newer models).

Yeah that's a little expensive. I think I can bend it back in place and it won't be too ugly. At this point, I'm ok using a little electrical tape if need be.

Switched display cable and swapped in X3C motherboard. Still keyboard is not working!?! I can try the other one again, but I'm at a loss. Maybe the trackpad as well. Strange.

Weird! Keyboard not working at all, or the same problems as you started with?

I think it's the same with both keyboards. When I boot up it goes directly to the windows boot manager (F8 is stuck?) and starts blinking fast because the down key is "stuck". Usually if I tap that key, it stops, but when I hit enter to select W7, nothing happens as though the enter key is dead. I thought maybe it is some stray electrical signal so have tried a different battery/no battery, unplugging speakers, the msata (same behavior in bios), the touchpad. Also thought maybe it was the 7260 wifi upgrade, but the problem persists if I remove the card. If I disconnect the keyboard the system appears to function perfectly fine with a usb mouse/keyboard, though the trackpad takes awhile to work with windows. If you don't have any other ideas, I will try the other keyboard again, but that may be it. Thanks for your help.

    dear John
the touchpad has little come out,
I disassembled the laptop, removed the back cover,
it turned out that the battery was swelled up, became fat, what reason could it be?
how to get her back into a flat state?
    tnx

I wouldn't mess with a Lithium battery. If it is swollen then it is probably sick. There was a bad batch of X3B batteries. Some of us arranged replacement under warranty due to lost capacity. Maybe yours was slow to fall sick or you hadn't noticed the capacity loss.

You need to get a replacement battery. The good news is that the NP900X3C battery works fine and has higher capacity than the X3B's original battery. The Samsung part number is BA43-00350A but I see that compatible batteries are now also available.

    Thanks John

recently I bought 900X3C and found out that keyboard does't working,
could it be motherboard problem or just previous owner spilled liquid?
I would like to know how replace the keyboard (large photo or video)
    big thanks

Hello Mr. John Ratsey. After updating to Windows 10, whenever I watch a video or doing something resource hungry, my sound starts to crack. I have tried various realtek drivers but no use. Do you have any suggestion what to do next? The crackling sound problem is rather big and many users (Hp etc) are also affected.

    Thanks

After installing a clean windows 10 the multitouch function of the touchpad stopped working (scrolling, zooming etc)
I installed the touchpad drivers from samsung but still doesnt work. Had anyone had the same problem?

EDIT: I just fixed it. Tried to download drivers from other places but didnt work. In the mouse properties i couldnt find any device listed in the touchpad secition.
THen i simply opened device manager and choose update driver for mouse and bam it now works! :)
