To free up more screen space I am making this thread the single sticky for this forum. The most useful threads will be listed here so that they can be easily found even if they drop down a few pages. It's already a long list but I'm open to suggestions for other worthwhile additions.
First, however, note that Samsung no longer update their software and driver download pages. To get the latest recommended software and drivers for your computer (and other recent Samsung models) use the SW Update program which can be downloaded here.

I'm surprised my R580 site isn't listed in the "Other models" as they don't have a R580 model listed there?

Hi John/Dannemand
Is it possible for you to update the first page of the "2013 Series 7 chronos / Ativ Book 8 15" owner's lounge (NP770Z5E / NP780Z5E / NP870Z5E / NP880Z5E) with the brightness fix or insert it into this sticky please?
courtesy of Pipic 12
Option 1)
You can try restoring functionality by going to Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> Intel HD 4000. You need to select the second update option (Search your computer...) and then Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. There you choose Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and you should get your brightness back
Option 2 (an even better fix if above method doesn't work. Also, Microsoft's Basic Display Adapter driver limits some graphic card's functionalities.
Below you can follow the steps to solve brightness problems when Intel's HD 4000 drivers get updated.)
1) Backup your registry if you wish!
2) Open regedit.exe with admin rights in Run Command (search toolbar in win10)
3) Find value [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001] "FeatureTestControl"= ''Edit DWORD 32bit'' = f000
4) Change that value to f008
5) Restart your laptop and option to change brightness should be fully working.
I think this would be very helpful. This has been taken from page 604. -
OK @Worzyl, I added @Pipic12's guide to @pranktank's Opening Post of the 2013 Series 7 / Ativ Book 8 Owner's Lounge (NP770Z5E/NP780Z5E/NP870Z5E/NP880Z5E).
I believe @faeterov was first to mention this fix in the post here, which I mentioned to give credit where it is due. If others were first to mention it, let us know.ALLurGroceries, toughasnails and pranktank like this.
