VM is Sprint, so yeah, they have 4G.
-
-
I know they use the Sprint network, but so far it's all been 3G.
Also, what's the difference between 4G LTE and 4G WiMAX? An article I read said that Sprint is replacing WiMAX with LTE, so VM gets the leftover WiMAX.
Also, apparently the phone will have ICS out of the box. I have yet to try it, but it seems nice. -
Okay, now this is getting REALLY ridiculous. Stop the lawsuits, crApple!
Samsung will prove the Galaxy S III is 'innovative and distinctive' in fighting off Apple ban request | The Verge -
Yeah that definitely looks like an iPhone.
-
You can check out wimax coverage here. When your not in an area that has coverage you will be using 3G. Wimax has terrible building penetration and does not work well on the "go" (aka...a moving car) I too am intrigued by the new phones but am trying to cling to my $25/month plan.
-
Yeah crApple cannot compete legitimately, so they spend all their money to buy patents (in order to sue) and then more money to sue the competition. Either way its not working and instead of getting more market share they are just pissing money away while still losing ground and reputation...

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
No, Sprint is re-provisioning WiMAX and iDEN to LTE. WiMAX will cease to exist when Sprint actually starts converting over to LTE in the future.
You're biding your time with WiMAX. -
Every time I try to flash a file through fastboot, I get, "Unknown Partition" error. I specified the partition though.
eg, fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img -
And this is why the Galaxy S/II/III/Note are the most flashing friendly/noob friendly phones. So much easier!
Have you done NAND S-OFF? From what I know, S-OFF is required for a bootloader flash.
Motorola v. Apple trial patent trial dismissed by frustrated judge | The Verge
HAHAHAHAHA! Finally, Apple is getting "dismissed" as deserved. -
I miss ICS *cries*

Thanks Pistachio! I'll give it a try when I get home. I ha e a Galaxy Nexus GSM.

In the One-X's case, yes AT&T is the reason why it is locked down. For those who wants a One-X compatible with AT&T's LTE band and a bootloader that is easily unlocked, the Rogers version is the one to get.
-
OH WAIT, DON'T DO S-OFF THEN!!!
I thought you had the Sensation 4G...
Have you rooted (flashed boot.img)? If not, that may be the reason. You have to root first to be able to flash a bootloader. -
Still out, no worries
It doesn't go past the Fastboot/download screen, is it possible to root? The bootloader is unlocked.
Sent from my SGH-T769 using Tapatalk 2 -
The bootloader is unlocked? But is it rooted? If you haven't rooted, the hidden partitions shouldn't appear, hence that error.
If that still isn't fixed, PM Step666, he has a GNex. I'm more into Samsung Galaxy Sx/Note series
-
-
Uh...what?
Pretty solid coverage in my area. I wouldn't be using it in a moving car, because I'm usually driving that car.
As for the $25 plan, I assume you're on VM? If so, switching phones won't change your rate; that only happens if you change your plan yourself, or go past your due date without paying.
So, not worth it?
How's the phone itself look? I really have no idea what any of the specs mean, so I defer to your judgment on that.

A quad-core LTE-enabled Galaxy S III with 2GB RAM to hit Korea - GSMArena.com news
Something about that doesn't add up - Exynos 4412 and LTE?
If that was a practical proposition, surely Samsung wouldn't be releasing any Krait-based S3 models? -
There has to be some sort of limitation as to why Samsung is not using Exynos for certain devices. The Korean GS3 is not the first device to contradict claims that Exynos is not compatible with LTE. Off the top of my head, the Verizon Galaxy Tab 7.7 still retains its Exynos SoC but runs on LTE bands.
-
It's far less of a stretch to have a CPU with a separate modem in something as large as a tablet, with the size of battery tablets have.
But in something like a phone? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I had forgotten just how good the GS2 is.
-
Yup
Get it on Cyanogenmod 9 and Siyah 3.2.8.2 (better than 3.3.1) and ot'll fly!
Also, today overnight, I went to bed with 31% battery. I woke up with 31% battery. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I have CM9 and a kernel I just compiled going. So smooth.
1.4GHz OC on CPU and 100MHz minimum GPU.
I'm not too fond of Siyah ATM. I like some of it's features, but just flashing it seriously messed some things up for me. I flashed Siyah and it soft bricked my S2. I mean ODIN didn't even make my device bootable the first time around, and I'm still not entirely sure what Siyah did, but I haven't had that problem with any other kernel... EVER. -
3.2.8 has a soft brick problem, was that the version you flashed? It had an issue in the /fs partition, which was fixed in 3.2.8.2. 3.3.1 is stable tho, it's pretty much CM9 kernel with features (he stripped down the experimental features to please his wife in stability LOL).
The soft brick (was it a bootloop?) is fixed with a data wipe.
Have you tried 66MHz minimum? Same performance as 100MHz but draws less power! Did you UV?
I also recommend you try Resurrection Remix ICS. Very good AOKP Based ROM! -
I know Samsung scored major points with Galaxy S III by convincing carriers to adopt the international physical design, but I still wish there was a slider variant...Stratosphere 2 anyone?
-
A stratosphere 2 would not be a Galaxy SIII with a keyboard. It would have previous generation specs, and have all sorts of software problems.
Who would want that? -
This might sound stupid but I can't obviously find anything online so I figured I'd ask.
In the stock ICS messaging app, no matter how long I continue to type, the 'composition area' stays at 3 lines.
On long messages, it's just not practical, it makes it extremely difficult to read over what I've typed.
Anyone know if there's any way of tweaking this? -
Flashbacks...horrible flashbacks.
-
Does anyone have any thoughts on the HTC One S? I've been reading some disheartening things about it on XDA.

I like mine just fine.
What's wrong with it?

My Boost Mobile phone (Galaxy Prevail) received an update yesterday. They have a really cool lock screen wallpaper. Is there a way to copy that over to my Gallery so I can use it as background wallpaper?
edit: does anyone have links to Samsung official wallpaper? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Are you talking about Gingerbread or Froyo? -
I don't know lol.
Android v2.3.6
Kernal v2.6.35.7
The lock screen wallpaper looks similar the classic sunburst design found on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 wallpapers. -
2.2 is Froyo. 2.3 is Gingerbread.
-
OK thanks. Is there a way to copy over the Samsung lock screen wallpaper to my gallery?
-

Any of these?

I'm thinking you're talking about the one on the bottom row with the starburst look... -
That one is close but the starburst is on the middle right side of the screen now and it moves towards the left. I like this one too. It's also on my Galaxy Tab 10.1
-
I have the sprint version and I LOVE it! Cant say much about tmobiles version though.
-
The T-Mobile One S =/= HTC EVO LTE
-
Correct. The closest thing to the EVO 4G LTE would be the One X.
-
An ICS + sense 4 HTC product running a dual core CPU. The only thing I could see making the difference noticeable is the lower screen resolution and slight difference in size. The user experience will be almost identical, but I guess some would disagree...
-
The screens are not only vastly different in terms of size and screen resolution, but also in screen technology. SAMOLED and SLCD2 are very, very different and the .4 inches of screen size makes a huge difference in terms of using the device. They really are very different devices.
-
The size isnt that big, and while the screen might be a bit better on my evo the useability is the same. But I guess if we are doing 100% straight comparisons then not event he one x (global) is the same phone with its quad core and all...
-
I was afraid that the TMO Galaxy S2's screen resolution would be too low considering it's 4.52" and 800x480. But, it actually looks quite nice, maybe it's the Super AMOLED Plus?
All in all, it's a really nice phone.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2 -
SAMOLED+ only refers to the quality of the panel. The S2 is the only phone that IMO pulls off a WVGA resolution and makes it look pretty. Now, if you add a 192DPI setting, then you will not really be able to distinguish between 720p and 480p
-
Wow a class 10 micro sd makes a huge difference.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2 -
Do you guys actually flash your phone every time a new rom update is out?
-
-
I do. I usually do 1-3 flashes per day (ROMs or Kernels).
-
Nope, I only flash if major improvements happen or if I want to change to something new.
