Thanks but no thanks. ::Happily pounds away on evo 4g lte::
-
How much? If it was the T-Mobile model, I'd take it.
-
But won't you be sick of reinstalling all your old apps and data? >_<
-
Nope, because nothing is deleted
All I have to wipe is Cache and Dalvik, nothing else. Pretty much an update takes less than 2 mins : get to CWMR, Wipe cache/dalvik, flash zip and reboot. That's it!
The i777 is the ATT model. Exynos chip, lots of dev support, definitely recommend it. -

$275 shipped. 9/10 condition.
Like Phistachio said, nothing is deleted... though that's usually only CM7/9. CyanogenMod has a very clean update process. Only /system is updated, or if there is a new kernel in the package it's also installed. Userdata and dbdata isn't touched. -
Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know that.
-
Not only CM9! AOKP, and many other AOKP/CM forks are also clean. They "require" a data wipe if installing for the first time, but I never did it and it was always a smooth experience, so a wipe is only necessary when you're having problems.
-
Ah, I was under the impression that I would need to perform a data wipe if I upgrade the rom, because I always had to perform a data wipe when I went from rom to rom.
-
As stated, depending on the ROM you're on and the one you're upgrading to, you don't have to.
But you tend to find the instructions advise you should. -
I really wish HTC had included a dedicated menu button. The on screen menu button takes up too much room.

HTC One S? -
Yeah. This single button takes up as much room as all the buttons at the bottom of the Galaxy Nexus screen.

On an 800x480 screen that's unacceptable.
EDIT: qHD. Still... -
Yeah, I got sick of that pretty quickly. one of my motivations to root/install custom rom on it...
-

With a custom ROM you can reassign another key to the menu function... no? How is that handled by the One S community? -
Yup, basically the "app switch" button becomes the menu button. So the situational on screen menu button is gone. The app switch button becomes the traditional long press "Home". That's the case for almost all custom roms by default I believe. Some roms will allow you to map the buttons yourselfs as well.
You are up late and I am up early.

Hi guys. i would like to hear your opinion regarding screen protectors.
i just bought a galaxy s advance. Now this has gorilla glass i am wondering if i still need to buy a protector even if gorilla glass is scratch resistant? -
I had my captivate (galaxy s) for a year now. I've dropped it probably 11 times on hard surfaces and even face down. There hasn't been a crack nor even a single scratch on it, so far. I bought a rubber case for it but it doesn't cover the screen and its main protection are the corners in case there are the point of impact.
My opinion, I don't think a screen protector will be necessary, but a good case around it might factor in the longevity of your screen and the phone in general. -

Thanks for the info.
I am searching for a case as well just dont find the Screen protector necessary myself.
The thing here is since the Galaxy S Advance just came out, no one has a casing for the phone lol -
I have managed to scratch the glass on my Motorola Droid, and I've seen customers with scratched or cracked Gorilla Glass.
That being said, it is some tough glass, and I did intentionally abuse my Droid to show how tough it was (from going maniacal on it with my freshly sharpened Leatherman to dropping it onto concrete). -
Yeah try the gnexus where the home, multitasking and back are ALWAYS on the screen. Sure it has a high resolution screen, but the way its all scaled is not for room so mix that with the google search not being a moveable widget makes for an annoying amount of room taken up.
The reason they dont have a dedicated menu button is android and applications are trying to get away from having/using them but must have some sort of backwards compatibility with old apps or apps meant to still work on older android OS versions. Sucks as we all have to deal with a loss in screen real estate for something that shouldnt have been considered for elimination.
In the end its not as bad as the notification system on webOS...
Personally Im not a huge fan. I had zagg "milspec" screen protectors on both my palm pre and samsung epic 4g and the palm pre peeled back on all 4 corners almost instantly and despite gorilla glass and a screen protector I was still able to damage my phone. Zero scratches before or after the screen protector despite many drops and being in with my keys, but I put it alone in my pocket one day and magically the screen shatters... Go figure. Honestly if you have a gorilla glass or comparable screen I wouldnt worry about it and save some money. Plus somtimes they can effect the function of the touch screen noticeably. -
I've also managed to scratch gorilla glass...and I'm not beating on my phones either.
In other news...wi-fi is still broken on ICS on my phone *sigh*
I'm so sick of gingerbread....:/ -
so...this is getting really annoying but all of my browsers crash on almost any webpage. been happening on the past weeks worth of CM nightlies and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. its very frustrating trying to load a webpage only to have it crash seconds later. this happens with ics browser +/dolphin hd/and the standard browser. javascript is enabled and would like to keep it that way.
-
My temporary Defy is sooo slow. Rooting + Rom
-
The Pre/Pixi were NOT gorilla class. They were plastic that was scratched if it was even in the same room as a set of keys. The Pre2 and everything after was glass.
-
The glass on my Droid still looks like the day I bought it.
-
I wasnt saying it was. If it came off as that I guess I may have mistyped. Either way I meant the epic 4g had gorilla glass, and despite the oreo effect the pre had it stood up a bit better from abuse then the epic...Althouhg one day I dropped it on a pile of laundry and the volume buttons fell off.

I just found out that CitiBank debit cards don't work with Google Wallet. Laaaame. The guy on the phone made it sound as if I could use it with Google Wallet, and it was one of the big reasons I switched to Citi. -
any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
/bump -
Cache/dalvik wipe. If not fixed, then a data wipe.
-
have done both. problem still exists.
-
Format /system and re-flash CM9.
-
just did a factory reset as well as formatted /system and re-installed CM9 (june 20th nightly) and problem still occurs.
the problem happens most often when i click on a link on the webpage before that original page has loaded fully and still occurs even after waiting for the page to finish loading. the browser will hang midway through loading the new page for a good 10 seconds before it actually crashes. data sent/received indicators stop completely ~4 seconds into the crash.
with javascript disabled, im able to browse this particular website (mmo-champion.com if you must know) without the browser crashing, however javascript being enabled has never given me a problem with this webpage before and ~70% of the sites i visit on my phone require javascript of some sort...i'd like to keep it turned on. -
Just picked up one of these ICS mini PC's: Amazon.com: Android 4.0 Mini PC: Electronics
1GB RAM / 2GB storage, 1.5GHz A10 Cortex ARM
There's another version out with 512MB RAM / 4GB storage, apparently only 1GHz A8, but not sure if typo.
Pretty nice little device, built-in wi-fi, HDMI, two USB 2.0 ports. 2mA / 5v power adapter. Powers the USB mouse and keyboard just great. Hooked up to my wi-fi and HDMI monitor easily. My goal was to use it as a media streamer primarily for netflix and home ripped movies, as well as internet access. Seems it might fit the bill. Small and simple to use and streams 720p video great. Now they're hard to find though, if it worked I was going to buy a few for various uses. Seems eBay still has some, but a bit more expensive ($80-85).
Just haven't had a chance to figure out how to get it to work with Amazon's unbox player. -
The Nexus tablet was a given but this?
-
They stole that design from Disney's Meet The Robinsons:
-
Nexus 7 for $200, and possibly cheaper if it's sold at BestBuy with my employee discount.
Want. Might actually buy one... I'm not for tablets much, but for so cheap and still a nice device, and at 7" compared to the normal 10", might be able to find a good use for it
Nice
Those things always seemed kinda cool to me
And a 1.5Ghz Cortex A10 is sweet.
Yeah, that thing is odd looking... lol -
I don't suppose you fancy hooking the rest of us up too?
A10 is actually the name of the model of the processor - it's A8 based. -
Yeah. Confusing nomenclature now that I look at the bottom of the box.
A10 Cortex-A8 1.5GHz (CPU 1.0GHz + GPU 500MHz) So it's really not 1.5GHz. It definitely has 1GB RAM and 2GB storage though. Nice to have 802.11b/g/n integrated. Not to mention free Angry Birds Space!
The other models I've seen seem to have 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. I don't think 512MB RAM is a problem for this device though.
-
Buying a HTC Rezound would likely be an absolutely awful decision.
Not gonna say I'm not considering it though... -
Are there any significant improvements over ics? How is it performing?
-
It's not bad. It's smoother than ice cream sandwich but it still has its moments. Google Now is certainly interesting but haven't gotten time to try it yet. A lot of the animations have changed.
-
Google now does sound exciting. I want to try it out but I'm not in the mood to set up my phone again. I've flashed too many roms recently. I'll probably just wait for AOKP jelly bean. On a side note did anybody else feel like the linaro (maybe spelled right?) patches didn't live up to the hype?
-
Nexus 7's price tag is simply amazing but I am on the fence because Microsoft is launching its Surface Tablet too. And I think the Surface will have a price tag at least twice of N7.
-
I'm still getting the Note 10.1. 7" is just too small for me...
-
It really isn't that bad. Google Apps are included with the release, and of course all your apps auto restore when you sign into Google. The most time consuming part is nandroid backup. Came from AOKP build 38.
-
Finally saw a mock-up of the Galaxy SIII and was able to compare it to the Sprint EVO 4G LTE (simlar to the One X).
The Galaxy SIII is one nice phone... I think that's going to be my next Android handset. -
In my experience, the Linaro patches helped very noticeably in overall experience. On latest CM9 2806 Experimental STK.
