That phone looks gorgeous. at first I thought the reflection of the camera lens was an indent on the actual phone.
That is pretty good battery life, My phone would be sitting at about 40% with that much usage and time.

I'd rock that. I approve of larger screened phones. Easier to type on.
Indeed, it's a shame though as I actually like LG's UI save for the weird manila folders.

I usually get about 3hrs of screen-on time on my Note, but it flat out won't go 18hrs unless you don't use it. And that's with a 2700mAh battery. The 5000mAh will last a while though...
-
^^^ That is why I set my alarm manually every night.

so the funtab pro tablet that i decided i didn't like is starting to grow on me.....all i had to do was sideload the google market apk and i now have full play store access......but this particular tablet for sure is getting returned it has a damaged screen.....and the screen is really bad viewing angles or horrible and the touch input is awful.....hopefully another 'new' one might have a little better touch input but i doubt it.....
and the airdroid app is pretty sweet -

It seems the USPTO has invalidated Apple's rubber-band scrolling patent. Seems they've found prior art.
Very interesting because if you guys remember, that was a key patent in the Apple v Samsung case. -
I hope they find a previous rectangle with rounded corners next, but that one may be hard to find...

C'mon...72 hours of unplugged time. You can do it!
Verizon people:

If there's one thing im jealous about the MAXX line is battery life...they're just epic
I'm not surprised about the 299 price for the Galaxy Note II...Verizon's been pushing that "ultra-premium" tier for a while now. Still irritating and I bet that all of the other carriers getting it will have it for the usual 199. -
T-Mobile is the one that blew the contract price way into space: Galaxy Note 2 - T-Mobile - $369
Might have been feasible if it was at least the 32 GB model, but the same 16 GB and disabled LTE radio? Pffft. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
AT&T's will be $299. The OG Note was $299 for a LONG time. Something I never understood, as it's just not near as powerful as the N7000. It's only plus is LTE and NFC, both of which are almost useless in 9/10 areas. -
...So in other news, Verizon has found a way to mess up the Galaxy Note 2 software and hardware wise.

You've GOT to be kidding me...i bet they debated whether to make it raised on the button so it would imprint VERIZON into your thumb cow branding style...just so you'd know who REALLY runs things! *eyeroll*

Believe me, I am furious right now. It feels like Verizon's main prerogative is to cripple or ruin all of their Android phones as much as possible. First the GSIII, now this. I am tempted to pay ETF and just go with my company's AT&T account for a cell phone.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
We need to find out who is responsible for approving Verizon's handsets. He/she needs to make front page in tech headlines for this atrocious pile.
Meanwhile, the enterprising users will be able to swap their home button out with an N7100 button. That's ridiculous that something like that is even contemplated.
AT&T has many bad qualities, but even they wouldn't do something this stupid. Disabling NFC? All of them do that. But AT&T is only guilty of one locked bootloader (HTC One X). And even then, it's just that it's not UN-lockable, since it ships locked. All Samsung devices are unlocked. They have been and will be, and the only modifications they've previously made have been to capacitive buttons. Now they're not even doing that. -
That is really disgusting. Such a beautiful phone turned into a monster. Sheesh.
Thank God my carrier doesn't label their phones. At all. Not even a 4G. Stock Samsung-made goodness. Why does Verizon need to do that? It's hideous. -

So, Roller Coaster Tycoon is coming to Android tablets...
With that announcement, Apple has something to be genuinely scared of.

I just preordered my GN2! Did it through ATT's website. Only had the grey which is what I wanted.
Also, @Hal, I checked my sister's phone and I put a pure white background on it and couldn't notice any burn-in...I don't think. If it was there, it would be extremely hard to see. I tried just blankly staring at it and might have seen the status bar very very vaguely? So much that my mind was probably trying to imagine it. So no, it didn't have burn-in haha.

Leaked Samsung Nexus 10 Users Manual shows tablet's design
How do you put Apple back into its place? Let Samsung do the job. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
That looks like the tablet I WILL buy.
Transformer TF700-t = too many build issues and Tegra 3.
Galaxy Note 10.1 = nice, just needs a decent screen resolution.
iPad = too restrictive, but very nice hardware.
Nexus 7 = one too many reports of build quality issues (ASUS :/).
Anything else so far has been either underpowered or just sub-par in general.
This thing looks to break that mold. Samsung's hardware with Google software. The Galaxy Nexus was a sure enough hit. I think this will be as well. -
It'll be an announcement day purchase for me if this thing has an Exynos 5 SoC under the hood.
-
72 hours is nothing:
Admittedly my screen-on time wasn't quite as good:
I'm due my upgrade, have been since Monday.
But I have no idea what I want.
It's pointless upgrading to a Note2 given there's a fairly serious suggestion that I'll be getting one from work and I already have an S3, so no point getting that or an HTC since the S3 is superior.
I think my options are, pretty much, the new LG Nexus device ( put off by the 8GB and lack of microSD slot) or holding out for some as-yet-unannounced handset with a 1080HD screen. -
LOL wow, there's no way this Moto was going to pull that kind of endurance, especially not what I do on it. Didn't make it to 72 hours either, gave up the ghost a few ticks before that:
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Well, I can tell you it'll be either one of two chipsets...
OMAP 4470 with SGX544 (Google likes PowerVR)
or
Exynos 5250
Tegra 3 won't push 2560x1600, OMAP 4470 -could- but it wouldn't be pretty... that leaves Exynos. Mali T604 has the grunt. -
LOL I would love to see Tegra 3 push WQXGA. If the Chromebook serves any indication, I'm hoping it foreshadows the Exynos 5 being in the Nexus 10 as well.

I'm not a fan of Google's newfound insistence on an Appleesque consistency of UI for Android tablets. I know they want to make them look like the phone for "consistency" but that button position is an ergonomic joke, plus if this is the final UI, you won't see the time or be able to use quick settings.
Disappointed. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Time and quick settings will be on the status bar at the top, like the Nexus 7.
I do agree about the bottom button placement though. On a 10" tablet, they could have at least moved them over to the left, like normal. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I think the bigger story here is that Google has a "Global Investigations & Intelligence Manager". This sounds like a job I want really badly.

Yeah, CM10 isn't quite a good daily driver yet on many phones that don't have a huge developer base behind them. CM9 is much more reliable.

Would you guys say a 16GB Nexus 7 for ~$185 is a good deal?
-
If you're looking for a tablet for less than $200 and are okay with 16 GB of non-expandable storage, then yes, nothing else can touch the Nexus 7 for that price. I would advise trying to get it locally just so it's easier to swap out if you have issues with "screen lift".
-
It will be from Staples so that should take care of any immediate problems. And this will be for my daughter so the 16Gb should be plenty for what she will be doing with it.
Think I will get this case Amazon.com: Bobj Rugged Case for Nexus 7 Tablet - BobjGear protective cover - Rockin' Raspberry: Computers & Accessories and need to decide on a good screen protector. -
Hurricane or not, Google proceeds with announcing their new toys.
The Nexus 7 3G becomes the undisputed tablet with cellular data connectivity for less than $300:
Google announces Nexus 7 (32GB + Mobile) tablet, available November 13th for $299 unlocked
In my opinion, nothing touches the Nexus 10 for $399, iPad included:
Nexus 10 available November 13th starting at $399; hands-on photos and video
Really looking forward to the Nexus 10 now. Super excited for the huge battery and the back casing is built like the Nexus 7. The front does remind me of a huge Nexus One though, the more I look at it.
Nexus 4:
The Nexus 4: Google's flagship phone lands November 13th for $299
So I dumped Verizon and went back to AT&T. I'm borrowing a One X until I can figure whether to get the Optimus G or wait on the Nexus 4. Thoughts? The only reason why I considered the AT&T version was the inclusion of the MicroSD card slot and LTE, but it's not particularly heart breaking if I don't have it either (Nothing I do really requires LTE anyways). -
Oh boy, the Nexus 4 looks gorgeous... Now I'm unsure if I should get the Note 2 or the Nexus 4... :s
-
I'm going with the 16GB Nexus 4. I don't like Touchwiz, and my Note N7000 looks awkward when I put it in my short's pocket.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Dat external storage though.... N4 doesn't have a MicroSD card slot. Complete deal breaker and one of the foremost reasons I don't buy Nexus devices.
Seriously, how hard would it have been to put in a damn SD slot?! -
No LTE? Wat.
