    Agreed, under-specced and over-priced.
It just launched in the UK, it's nearly 25% more expensive than an S3 yet has no expandable memory, no removable battery, half the length of warranty and doesn't even have a charger in the box.

This I have to disagree with though.
There are plenty of budget handsets that aren't crap but the G wipes the floor with all of them - it has specs that rival a handset twice it's price and it's selling like hotcakes.

I'm not saying the X is a horrible handset, but there's nothing special about it. It's close to vanilla Android...but I can buy a Nexus phone for that. Sure there's screen size, people who don't want 5.7" phones, but the Moto X isn't any smaller than the Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, just smaller than the new Nexus 5. I could care less about the assembled in the US, the PCB and SMC are all made in Asia, so the assembled in the US is pointless. If Motorola made something groundbreaking, then so be it. But the only handset I've seen break some traction is the older Droid Razr Maxx...and all that offers is ridiculously battery life cause it has a ginormous battery.

The Moto G is a good idea...except again it's a good entry level smartphone...but in the market where people don't mind spending 150-300 for a contract phone, I can't see it outselling those models that have heavy discounts. I feel Motorola's push for good value handsets is far too little, far too late. That and I know PLENTY of Motorola users who are still fumed about the lack of updates.

I can see the Moto G selling well in Europe/Asia where there aren't much contract phones for $$$, where people buy phones out right. But the US is a huge market, and well it hurts when you can't sell a successful product in the US.

You're missing the point though, it's not an entry-level smartphone at all, it's far higher-specced than that. It's almost on a par with the X in terms of specs, the camera's really the only major difference.

Entry level phones have screens with resolutions like QVGA and HVGA, the G is 720HD, it's a completely different class.
The fact it's priced extremely competitively doesn't lessen the specs.

There are plenty of people in Europe who buy their handsets on contract, for example EE the largest UK mobile phone network had 56% of it's customers on contract at the end of Q3 of last year.
I don't know how that compares to the likes of the US but it's worlds away from other markets.

I agree completely with the Moto G. It's a steal, literally. Compared with other similarly priced handsets, it outclasses them in almost every single way.

About the contract customers thing... in the US, I'd peg it closer to 85-90% of mobile users. Almost everyone in the US is under contract, which is really sad.

I have an unlocked Moto G, and my dad just purchased the Verizon prepaid model today. Idle battery life is among the best I've seen. Easily over a week of standby with sync and everything going. I could use it as my main phone if the camera was a little better.

One of the things I can't complain about the X is this as well, I have around 3-4 days of usage in it. I always leave the WiFi on

Alright guys, I'll be headed home next month. I currently am on AT&T. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. While I've been deployed I got a free DROID RAZR which I've been using only on wifi. It's a Verizon phone. The Captivate has become a bare minimum audio player due to the nice Wolfson audio chip.

I'm wondering what phones are due out, or how soon. I'd like one with a nice display and a nice audio chip as well. I always figured I'd get the next Galaxy but just want to leave my options open. Any suggestions? Whatever I get will probably end up in an otterbox defender case and Zagg invisible shield on the screen.

So what are the top phones currently? I'll be starting some research soon as well. Thanks for any input guys!

At the end of this month is the Mobile World Conference and there should be more info on release dates then. Expecting Galaxy S5 and LG G2 Pro at as well as some others to pop up.. Rumors of a Android-skinned Nokia phone, HTC M8, Xperia Z2..

Didn't you make a fancy iPod at some point? why are you still hanging on to that 4 year old Wolfson chip? :p

Thanks, I'll keep an eye peeled for that.

The Ipod, I did :p. It too had a Wolfson chip. Both Wolfsons still sounds great. And running the outs of the Ipod chip directly to the line out only made it a much sweeter and cleaner sounding signal. Eargasmic! Lol

Just remembered, that Ipod is from 2007 too. Still haven't had a better sounding digital audio player. Captivate I use for streaming Spotify in 320kb/s. Pretty good DAP.

I've got an S3 and my wife has a Moto X. The Moto X kicks the living hell out of the S3 in (1) screen quality (not specs, but quality) and (2) user experience. Comparing out-of-the-box to out-of-the-box (i.e., don't tell me how good the S3 is with Cyanogenmod, which most people would never do), the Moto X is smoother, cleaner, more lag-free, easier to use, with a screen that looks dramaticaly better.

Of course the Moto X will be faster/smoother, it's very close to stock Android. I think the current Moto phones as low end Nexus phones, cause that's essentially what they are. And I'm sure the Moto series is heavily subsidized by Google, hence they are allowed to be sold at the prices they are being sold at.

I guess it's a lot cheaper to update an app than planes and especially staff...

For all the talk of my Netjets sub and all that, I actually travel coach on short notice a lot and I'm really not that demanding a passenger. That TAP / Lisbon can pee me off every single time that I need to use/ go through them is something else.

Actually, flight crew is one of the things I never complained about TAP. Now, being on schedule and being cheap is something they just can't be.

I can understand why though, Lisbon airport is horrible. Besides, they hold a huge monopoly in Madeira/Lisbon flights, so we are quite constrained.

By the way, I just landed in Lisbon 5 minutes... BEHIND schedule with TAP

I am on 4.3 and the android notification system is crap. I can set up a time interval but it will also be "on" during weekends. iPone's notification has that common sense to select days!

So, what kind of notification apps are out there (preferably FREE) that you guys use to silent ringers, texts etc in weekdays ? I need something customizable. Right now, I have just turned off the sound which doesn't matter that much since I am in a dead zone here anyway but I might move soon.

EDIT: I found Timeriffic. Has anyone used it with any experiences to share? I am open to other apps.

    Valid argument is valid.

Turn off your phone? I don't understand why you wouldn't want any notifications... other than maybe during the quiet hours at night. Mine are set at 11pm-6am.

If you have notifications off, might as well just turn the thing off.

Hey, do y'all at Samsung think you could spend five minutes on aesthetic consistency this time around? Maybe you could rate aesthetic consistency with a number so it, too, can improve each generation.

I feel the Galaxy S _ is no different than iPhone, in terms of people buying only because all their friends have one. The only Android phone I can really recommend are Nexus phones and phones without god awful bloat (aka none of Samsung models minus the Google editions). My girlfriend's mom had a Galaxy S 4, and it LAGGED doing anything. And it was the factory image (S600, 2 GB RAM, Adreno 320, T-Mobile variant). And I hate when people say, well you can put on a custom ROM. Your average user will not flash a custom ROM and root a phone, they use the phone at face value.
