It wouldn't surprise me if it is. The Galaxy Note seems like it could potentially not "clinic" well (Verizon's notorious for killing off seemingly interesting designs through focus group results: The LG Genesis was going to be the EnV Pro and the BL40 was rumored to come to our shores as well) due to it's large size.

To be honest, it looks like a bad copy of ADW IMO.

Gah... my VZW upgrade has been ready since the introduction of the Thunderbolt. Too bad no SGS2, but I guess I can wait for the Prime. I hope it delivers all that I've heard it to be...

that looks pretty bad. I'd much rather see them do that with touchwiz (I know, XDA.... :p) instead, but since its a way of brand differentiation that'll never happen.

Well, I just got the 2.3 update for my Droid 2.
    Pros:
-The phone feels much faster and snappier than before.
    -I like the customizeable dock.
-The dialer now has a quick history.
    Cons:
-I can't quickly flip through home screens anymore
-It's very hard to tell which home screen I'm on when the screen is flipped horizontally.
-Some of the stock wallpapers were deleted
-I'm not a big fan of the whole "blue" color scheme. I liked the look of the old interface better.

I tried that Breeze launcher just now and it felt REALLY super amateurish.

I think more people need to look to Launcher2's example of super-fluid UI design... and expound on that. Launcher2 has smoothness NAILED.

Zeam Launcher is smooth too, as long as you enable it to manage the background image internally.
Hopefully Ice Cream Sandwich adds GPU assisted gui so the CPU wont hog it all up rendering.

HA! If ICS does indeed give us a GPU accelerated UI, the other platforms need to watch out. Android phones have had to have seriously beefed up spec lists for a while now to keep things smooth _without_ GPU acceleration. With GPU acceleration on phones like the Galaxy S/II or the OMAP 4 phones, Android will FLY.

Question - android has hdpi, mdpi etc; is that determined by screen res or by pixel density?

    A combination...

It's dependent on how the OEM wants the UI to look on a device of whatever size...

IE: The Atrix. It's a 4" 540x960 and it's set at 240dpi. For a scaled version of that interface, so it's not so tiny, it's 275dpi.

But, IMO, it's based on resolution.

The reason I ask is that I'm having issues with WidgetLocker scaling down my custom sliders.

No-one in the help thread on XDA knows why, so I reached out to the developer, who stated that Sense-style sliders ( the type I'm trying to create) can only be a maximum of 200dp tall - which equates to 200px high on mdpi devices and 300px high on hdpi devices.
He also confirmed that the Tab is an mdpi device, in spite of it's high res screen.

Problem is, even after cropping the slider down to 199px high, it still displays at the wrong size... :(

    I c.

For the HC tablets to be using MDPI would make sense. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 only has 149.45 PPI, so it's UI would have to be scaled for that. The Galaxy Note has, like, 284 PPI, so I'm wondering what they're going to use there. HDPI isn't enough for something like that. HDPI sometimes looks bad at qHD.

Question though... is the PNG a ".9" PNG? If so, you have to decompile the app and recompile the changed PNG back into it. The ".9" images can't be edited like the others can.

Looking for some answers. My Samsung Captivate was working fine with my Verizon FiOS router. For some reason today it quit connecting. Now it it will scann networks, and stop after attempting to obtain IP. Worked fine the last few days, have tried setting static IPs and forgeting the network. Just frustrated because I tend to use the phone at home while browsing. Anyone ever have this issue? I'm at a loss as to what could have changed  :(

Had a similar incident a few months back DR650SE on my Bell Vibrant. Tried rebooting, resetting, reformatting, ect. Just seemed to mysteriously work a week later. Mind you, before this I had been previously leaving my wifi on at all times, but after those incidents I had begun turning it off when I was done using wifi.

On another note, a heads-up to those that enjoy it that another Kairosoft game might be released sometime soon. Kairo Park - Games for Android: Grand Prix Story/Game Dev Story/Hot Springs Story - Kairosoft Pocket league story is on the way apparently. Enjoyed Game Dev and Grand prix, absolutely hated Hot Springs.

Try unplugging then re-plugging your router's power connection. I've had a _somewhat_ similar issue, though never with my Samsung phones. I happened to me with my Atrix.

Never had to do anything like that before.

He said he's working on some HC tweaks and trying to get some hands-on time with ICS ASAP to prepare for that.
He also said he was trying to change the theming system so you could create themes for a particular dpi setting.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens...

LOL... the most meaningless of all... Quadrant. Mind you, this is still on a single core Hummingbird device though. (Inspire 4G)

EDIT: DAMMIT. I meant Infuse 4G. I have no idea why I get those two confused so much. It certainly couldn't be because the names are so similar... /s

    1.4GHz. Nothing big.

I've found out that the Infuse is running the S5PV210 Hummingbird board, instead of the S5PC110 of the usual Galaxy S phone. So in other words, the Infuse is running the Galaxy Tab 7's board, which comes with more user space RAM, a juicier CPU/RAM bus, and faster clocked RAM.

LOL. Hummingbird can be a beast if done right. The test right before this one was 4990. Almost 5000!

Then again it is Quadrant. And my Infuse still only gets around 34-3700 points in CF-Bench... about half the GS2.

I find that a bit hilarious.....

/stepmom also has a better phone than him, although she doesn't know it due to how unreliable it has been, she thinks it's a piece of junk and Samsung are the scum of the earth....after all the things that phone did/does...I can't blame her though.

She's likely going to get the iPhone 5 when it comes out. Honestly, I think it would be better for her.

Well, I think any question of HTC edging away from Android because of Google's acquisition of Motorola have been well and truly answered...
HTC files new suit against Apple using Motorola/Google patents - BGR

Now Google just needs to help arm up Samsung and things will really be looking up :D

I have no love for Samsung.
I guess complaining that they tend to be completely unoriginal is kinda harsh and maybe irrational, but some of their devices really do look too much like copies. They're pulling a Hyundai everything/HP Envy, and while I hate Apple, I hate copycats. =/

Then, it is hard to be original when you can only design something so many ways.

That said, I don't care how much TouchWiz looks like the old iOS, and you can argue for or against it until you're blue in the face. I HATE TouchWiz - almost as much as I hate MotoBlur.

This isn't marginal hate. This is burning, seething, painful hate. Think hemorrhoids but a million times more burning. That is my hate.
