Are you overclocking?
7076 for me.... @1.6Ghz
-
Nope, no OC, just CM7.1 with Android 2.3.7
EDIT : Ah, at 1.6GHz... That's quite understandable
-
Ah thats good then
Imagine what you could get OC'd just for the hell of it
-
I want to OC to 2.0GHz, but I would just burn my house up LOL.
-
LOL, yeaaaah that might be a bit high
-
Meh, I don't need OC. I am more than satisfied with the performance
Right now, I'm installing and looking at some cool sexy themes : [CM7 Theme Chooser] Sony, Samsung, Motorola themes for CM7 (HDPI/MDPI - Updated 6/10) - xda-developers
-
No words can explain how bad i want CM7 to be available on my phone
-
I know right? I have no idea why I didn't do this before...
The freedom, oh the freedom of choice and install, it's so beautiful!
-
Also, does anyone have any idea why I'm having so many force closes? I can't even go to my dialer...
-
try fixing permissions in CWM
-
Do I need to wipe or just fix permissions -> reboot?
-
Just fix permissions and reboot.
Helps FCing sometimes. Not always but its worth a shot before you reflash the ROM! -
Thanks! The issue is fixed!
One thing that is still left unknown is why does the camera app crashes when I switch to video recording?
-
Awesome
Hmm, idk about that. Must be a ROM bug? or if its not try reflashing the ROM.
HAL could probably make you a camera.apk zip to flash too, he did for me before
-
I know, I'm so annoyed by that haha seriously.
Android Central and a few other sites got some hands on time with Stratosphere. Smooth and slightly better slider action than the Epic.
I'm a bit bummed that a lot of the social network features of TouchWiz like Social Hub and some of the widgets have been gutted (There's only 7 Samsung Widgets....6 of them clocks) as Facebook for Android still sucks and I wanted a nice messaging widget.
I don't know what version of TW it's running but it seems to incorporate some features of TW 4 (app drawer icons don't have "blobs" behind them, for example, and you can create folders w/in the drawer) but what's there seems nice.
Performance in the demos seemed good, it'll be interesting to see if it's RFS formatted or not....I really hope not.
I use the stock browser as my current phone's underpowered to run anything else well. -
Even if it is RFS, its easily fixed by devs. "Voodoo Lagfix" converts it to EXT4. All the Galaxy S's have it.
And the TW version can also be changed by devs/custom ROMs
-
Damnit, where's my Nexus Prime already!
-
Right? The wait/ rumors/ hype is killing me
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
The 19th is supposed to be the day, correct? -
I need them to release it already then I need Samsung to give some away so I can get one without paying anything.
edit: I heard 17th. -
Quite happy with CM7 so far. I configured most of the settings to be similar to the Honeycomb features. Notifications on the bottom, lock screen, etc.
It's zippy, pretty, and feature rich, while maintaining that "lean" feel. I doubt I'll be wandering too far from this one. -
I can't wait for my Galaxy Player 5. Scheduled to ship next Monday!
-
Might stop by best buy mobile today to check out the stratosphere. i'll leave my debit card at home...i hope.
-
If you buy it, I am going to shun you and also get HAL and Step to do the same.
-
Been playing around with my Galaxy S II for a couple days now. I am enjoying it so far, but I'm new to smartphones so there's a slight learning curve (like the first day... didn't realize that the phone didn't have an alarm clock built in, so I had to spend fifteen minutes looking around the appstore for an alarm app I liked at 1:30 a.m. when I had to be up in five hours for class. Good times), but things are moving smoothly.
I have a quick question about rooting and mods (namely CM7). what are the real benefits to doing this? The Stock (well... TouchWiz) seems fine to me, but you guys keep talking about it, and I want to know what's up. -
Android does have a built in alarm function. It's in the "clock" app. At least that is the case with stock android.
-
There it is! See, still learning. thanks
-
Android phones have an alarm clock...open the "Clock" app and there's an alarm option. (EDIT - ninja'd)
Rooting basically gives you root/admin privileges in the Android OS, allowing you to do stuff you normally wouldn't be able to do, like WiFi tethering, screenshots, removing system apps, and other stuff. As for ROM's, community-developed ones tend to be more streamlined and less bloated than stock, often with added features and useful apps pre-installed. -
so.. I finally used Google wallet today, I had too people on their way to the nearest sprint store lol
-
Lucky for me BB didn't have it on their website so i didnt bother driving over.
The stock alarm clock is pretty meh imo, but yeah its there. -
Ahhhh why can't I be at home for the week? ( Hong Kong)

A new, basically free phone or $300 for Nexus Prime... Damn this is sure tempting. The Droid Bionic and Samsung Charge are pretty damn good at that price. Both have good battery life, the Bionic has its dual core while the Charge has the SAMOLED+ screen and Wolfson DAC (I believe). What would you guys do!?
Every Verizon phone not named the iPhone only 1¢ at Amazon
"Here is a deal you don’t see every day courtesy of Amazon as they are offering every Verizon phone with the exception of the iPhone for only 1¢ with a new two-year activation for a limited time only.
When we say every phone, we mean every phone. This includes some powerful 4G LTE devices such as the HTC Thunderbolt and the newly released Motorola DROID Bionic. Non-LTE handsets are also getting the one penny love like the HTC DROID Incredible 2 and the LG Octane feature phone.
Take a look at Amazon’s wireless site because we aren’t kidding. The Samsung DROID Charge is there, as is the HTC Rhyme. While there is no iPhone available with this pretty amazing offer, there is surely a great phone to be had at an unbeatable price that will make you forget the iPhone even exists. Maybe.
Hurry though this offer is only good until October 17 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Every purchase includes free two-day shipping. This offer is mainly for new lines of service with Verizon but a few of the devices are only a penny with an upgrade as well. You will just have to check for yourself. Anybody think they are going to take advantage of this offer?"
edit: new 2 year activation, so no upgrade? boo. Might still do it lol. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
^I'd go with the Prime. The Charge is $179 on upgrade from Amazon, and the Bionic is $249. The whole $.01 thing is for new subs.
But yea, unless the Prime is announced with a Wolfson DAC, the Charge is the only phone on VZW I'd get if you're serious about your audio. The Bionic is a joke when it comes to audio quality... I know from recent experience. Out of the box, the first one didn't have any audio at all because of a malfunctioning headphone jack.
You'd think Motorola would get the headphone jack right after having that very issue with several other models of theirs. Namely the OG Droid and Droid 2.
EDIT: The Charge with CM7 is a damn sweet phone though. S-AMOLED+, LTE, Wolfson DAC... plus they upgraded the RAM on Hummingbird from LPDDR1 to LPDDR2 for the refreshed devices (Charge/Infuse 4G). -
Ugh not cool that the headphone jack apparently still sucks on motorola's.
I'm back on the fence...waiting to see what happens on the 19th.
Would the ram changes apply to Stratosphere as well hal?
39.99 w/upgrade on amazonwireless...that's VERY tempting. -
Hey guys, I got a question.
Which would drain more power from my phone (or any phone): Wired earphones or bluetooth earphones? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I'm not sure... I need to look through the source and see if this is a Galaxy S re-hash, or truly an updated device. Since it's a 5MP shooter, I'm thinking it's just a re-hash, and that won't have the LPDDR2 upgrade.
Bluetooth. Definitely bluetooth. -
I would hazard a guess and say Bluetooth earphones, since there's a constant link that has to be maintained.
-
Okay, that's what I've been hearing.
I can listen to music for at least 6 hours straight with 3G on. How much do you guys think it'll run out if I were to be listening to bluetooth earphones instead of wired? -
I want ICS!
As soon as I see a stable build of it, I shall flash it! -
What issues for the OG Droid? I currently use that and it seems decent enough. My Droid seems to be getting slower everyday since I heard about the Nexus Prime
If I were getting a new plan, the Charge would definitely be a good deal at $0.01, but since I'm upgrading, I'd rather wait for the Nexus Prime than pay $180 for the Charge.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I hear it's a fairly common problem for the headphone jack to come loose or cause problems... I know several people that have encountered that. Plus, the issue with the Bionic is pretty well known.
But yea, I agree. The new Nexus device will be more of a worth while upgrade, especially for power users.
Meanwhile: (this was shot in 1080p. I wonder if it was shot with a Nexus Prime?)

Yeah, my headphone jack is loose. Though I had a lint ball in it, so I blew it out with my compressor and banged it on a metal cabinet (which broke my volume down button). Not so fun when the phone is moving around in your car.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015

Thankfully, I've had no issues (yet). Crosses fingers lol. Gah... Hurry up Nexus Prime. I want to pre-order lol.
-
Count me in as another one with headphone jack woes. It sucks not being able to use it for music much: It's one reason why I bought a smartphone in the firstplace!

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I'm guessing this means Twitter integration is coming?
https://twitter.com/#!/Android -
Just guessing, but I'd think around 4 hours +- 1 hour.
-
Quick question: Does this ( Anyone interested in picking one up this Thursday? - Page 4 - Android Forums) mean that the Stratosphere is potentially equipped with an encrypted bootloader? I'd be so disappointed and would be running to the nexus faster than a stinkbug in heat.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Interesting. That would be the first, no doubt the request of Verizon. Samsung has signed bootloaders on their devices now, but none of them have been locked...
-
Oh Verizon, giving me even more reasons to loathe you by the day....
Remind me again why I'm with these numbnuts?!
*cough* unlimited data *cough*
Oh yeah...that's right...
