LMAO.
Nice. I loathe that app.

Omg, i could never do that. I back up 130+ things with TI

Ahah! I thought about doing the same but in this time, I am more greedy than lazy

Good god why would one need so many apps! -
Idk... they add up
-
Fancy Widget has been re-released as Fancy Widgets.
There's still a free and pro version, but they're the same app now with an optional unlock code. Since I got FW Pro a few months ago for free via Amazon Appstore, I got an email directly from the developer with a license key to unlock the new full app, which I can now get directly from the Market instead of having to go through the Amazon Appstore. -
I've never heard of that one, better than beautiful Widgets?
that's what I have
-
I want a Galaxy Note already
-
It's a pretty similar concept, but I think Fancy Widgets looks better. I purchased Beautiful Widgets a year or so ago, but the text on the widget always looks fuzzy and awful to me, on both my old Intercept and my current phone.
-
Ah ok, I'll have to give it a shot

Boy do I love my SGSII O_O
Best phone evar.
The difference between a S-Amoled and a S-Amoled plus is stunning. -
HTC Rezound for Verizon unveiled: Beats Audio, Ice Cream Sandwich-ready, 4.3-inch 720p display available November 14th for $299 -- Engadget
720p on a 4.3", impressive specs too. Nice looking phone. -
That's one heck of a pixel density and you have to give Verizon some credit for lining up so many decent handsets.
That said, it's a shame it's still just an MSM 8660 CPU and the battery is relatively small given it's got an HD screen and LTE. -
I just don't like HTC's designs. Or should I say, design. They just look so boring and plain and alike. I'm sure they're solid phones, but I just don't like them.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Pixel density. That's all that's jumping out at me.
The design is tacky, just like the Incredible. The MSM8660 can do the deed, but HTC needs to get their kernel straight.
Aside from the 720p screen, this really isn't a great handset. -
And yet it's still better than anything any of the other US networks have announced so far - correct me if I'm wrong but only Verizon have any handsets with HD screens lined-up.
-
I wonder how the 720p SLCD screen on it will stack up against SAMOLED+, because the Nexus's 720p regular SAMOLED underwhelmed.
-
Reportedly "Super LCD", I would be surprise if it can get a quality comparable to AMOLED.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
The S-AMOLED in the Galaxy Nexus looks amazing, IMO. I saw nothing wrong with it... and I loathe Pentile.
I would really have loved it to be S-AMOLED+, but I can certainly live with the regular.
Sidenote:
Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet leaks out: thinner, lighter, faster, and $249 | The Verge -
"SLCD" = Super LCD
So far, it hasn't. Maybe 720p will change that, but the higher definition didnt help regular SAMOLED at all.
What does HTC have against AMOLED screens?!
Ah ok
Engadget made it sound bad
-
Everything I've read about the likes of the Note's screen has been extremely positive.
Cost? Supply issues?
They have used them in the past but obviously not any more.
I dunno about Engadget but, as I said before, everything I've read about the Note's screen is absolutely glowing - and it's a lower pixel-density than the Nexus' screen. -
If the S-Amoled display found on the SGN is the same "quality" (aside from the resolution of course) as the panel of the original SGS, then it really is a big step down from the S-Amoled Plus.
But of course, it may have change since
Oops, I did not notice the SLCD you mentioned
-
The pixel density is much higher, which will make a difference.
Even S-AMOLED+ would look like crap if the pixel density was too low... -
Of course, but in term of contrast and picture quality, the S-Amoled Plus is much better regardless of the resolution. I compared the SGS with the SGSII screen with identical pictures, I can really tell the difference is impressive.
-
I emailed the developer a while ago about the same issue. Got a reply that they are on it. Nothing since. :-/
Not to mention, I having the "not compatible with your device" issue with a range of apps, (paid and free). Urgh.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Change your DPI to above 200.
-
All AMOLED panels, Super or otherwise, have infinite contrast ratios due to the fact that black pixels emit no light.
But, proper numbers aside, in GSMArena's measurements, the brightness of the i9000's white pixels was greater than the i9100's at both 50% and 100% brightness levels.
So, if anything, it would appear to the human eye to have greater contrast.
S-AMOLED+ is definitely a step forward but the lack of an RGB sub-pixel arrangement is not in itself a hindrance to the S-AMOLED HD panels.
On a completely different note, the Galaxy S3 is apparently a lock to have a quad-core CPU.
More witchcraft! -
Tried, 190, 200, 240 (original).
-
I was just referring to the Nexus's screen, Idk about the Note, but if it has any SAMOLED, it has an excellent screen. They're all gorgeous
My 4.52" is only about ~206ppi, which is considered fairly low. Not a pixel to be seen when up close and it beats the iPhone 4's high ppi screen.
Oh wow, I thought that was just an issue with my phone because its new. Many of them are listed as that
But if you get an apk and install it, the app is perfectly working
interesting, the whites are MUCH brighter on Plus compared to regular I found.
What the regular SAMOLED lacks in the Prime is apparently: "reduced sharpness and worse color rendition"
Here is what Engadget said about it: The Galaxy Nexus' Super AMOLED display is a minus, not a Plus -- Engadget
Sounds good
Hopefully itll be out in 2 years when my contract expires!
Sidenote: I want an AMOLED laptop screen
I guess they dont exist because that would be too expensive to make
-
That Engadget article was pretty much flamebait from the very beginning. It's has a poorly worded title, and the content has so much opinion injected into it, it's sad.

For all those with Galaxy S or Galaxy S II devices, try Voodoo Screen Tuning. It allows you to turn down the damn overzealous mDNIe text sharpening on S-AMOLED and S-AMOLED+ devices.
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.screentunedev -
Interesting, I will try it
I know Voodoo Color did alot for my original Galaxy S
-
It doesn't matter - the Note's screen is the same as the Nexus' only bigger, ie it has a lower pixel density.
So if it looks good then the Nexus' screen must look good as well because it will be sharper.
About 3/4 of the way down this page, there the figures are.
There's not a huge difference and neither handset is that bright compared to a lot of the competition but what difference there is favours the older model.
That's not apparently, that's a simple fact of any normal S-AMOLED (not Plus) panel - they have fewer sub-pixels so are seemingly less sharp than an S-AMOLED+ panel with the same pixel density but since the Nexus and Note have a higher pixel density than the Galaxy S2 models (especially the 4.5" ones), that isn't such a big issue.
As for colour balance, all AMOLED panels suffer to some degree or another with non-Plus panels having the issue of different coloured sub-pixels being different sizes, thus making it naturally less balanced but as HAL has touched upon before there are ways of adjusting that via software such as Voodoo Colour.
edit: oops, forgot to check the next page, it seems HAL has touched upon it again... -
Gave it a shot, very minimal difference imo
That's odd seeing as everyone agrees the plus is better. Ill have to do another side by side and see, but the main difference I saw between the two were brighter whites on plus
Pixel density will help, but with any AMOLED screen it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference (which is a good thing)
Yeah Voodoo color did great on the original sgs, so far its not on the sgs2 (or at least not my variant) bit it still looks better than sgs1 with it, I can only imagine the sgs2 with it
-
When I compare the two, neither is really that impressive to me solely because of the tint both screens have. Comparing a Nexus S to a GSII, the Nexus has a bluish-green tint where the GSII seems to have like a yellow or burnished tint to it. Maybe it was just the lighting. The only nice thing I saw about the GSII in comparison is the lack of the pentile effect.
I don't know how common this is, but the Samsung Focus we have I think has a Super Amoled screen, which has developed a fairly deep blue tint in the top-left portion of the screen, where the charger thing is (which, by the way, has the be the worst design decision ever). I really, really hate the Samsung Focus. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the reason why I never buy a Samsung anything ever again. Maybe the exception being the Galaxy Nexus. I don't know yet. Actually, come to think of it, our Nexus S is having problems of its own as well... the stupid back button keeps hanging and the phone ends up spazzing out. Ung.
Actually... both the Nexus and GSII look a bit yellow to me. Hm.
The Focus doesn't. It looks a bit blue. -
Sorry, which part of my post was that in response to?
-
Wasn't it posted a while back that you can change the calibration for the screen on these phones?
-
I can't since they're work phones, so I'm stuck with it. And I don't think calibration will fix the blemish on the Focus's screen. =s
-
Odd, I actually thought the SGS/Nexus has a blueish tint for white, and the GSII was a bit more "true" white. Neither look yellow to me
About gsmarena favoring the regular SAMOLED and not Plus.
-
I was comparing the screens with a grayish background with some purple and blue highlights, though the Focus didn't have the same background - the background on the Focus is white instead of gray, and the white had a bit of blue to it. I could definitely see a yellow in the Nexus though, using my iPhone as a control.
The only time I notice the blue/green on the Nexus is when you tilt it in any direction. The yellow is much more noticeable on white - I just took my phone and the Nexus and went to Google. It's like a dirty white or off white.
I don't have the GSII with me, but the yellowish color I'm seeing on the Nexus is reminiscent of what I remember on the GSII - like I said, could have been the lighting where I was using the GSII. -
They didn't favour it, they just found upon measuring it that it was brighter.
No-one's claiming that S-AMOLED+ isn't a better technology. -
I know
And ah okay I misread your post that they favored regular overall. Which was why i was surprised .
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Well, actually, Voodoo Color hasn't made it to the S-AMOLED+ panels yet. They're harder to calibrate than the older Pentile panels. Everything has to be adjusted through gamma tables. Supercurio has stated he's working on it though. His original Voodoo Color gave one of my Captivate's an almost perfect 6500k white, where the other one was too blue tinted to change much... but it did look a LOT more natural than before.
The main reason there are all these variations is because of the silicon backplane that has to be laser etched with every AMOLED panel. No two are ever exactly the same... that's where you get your color temperature variations and such. They're looking into a new material for the backplane, but right now it's amorphous silicon.
The main thing the Voodoo Screen utility does is turn off the mDNIe text sharpening. The color presets are very close to stock ATM.
You can, but it's in it's infancy right now. You have to rewrite gamma tables for every brightness level... otherwise things get ugly quick. Plus, gamma tables are very hard to get right at lower brightness levels, because AMOLED already has issues with grays.
The OG Galaxy S is fully supported though.
You can adjust that device to whatever you want, basically.
-
So would I be correct in assuming that it should be much easier for Supercurio to adapt it for the Galaxies Note and Nexus?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Should be, yes. Since they're both using the same gamma correcting chip. -
HAL, I need to ask you a few things :
1) Can I use Samsung's TW4 Messages and contacts apps ( .apk, found in /sys (?) ), instead of CM7's version?
2) Do you know how to "unlock" the dynamic setting in the screen mode setting in CM7? Dynamic is waaay better than standard... Maybe an adb console command? -
Dynamic is really oversaturated and inaccurate i thought... :confused2:
