Good question, does anyone know exactly? I probably checked it before and never seen the battery drop 10%, but can’t say how much. Also the temperature near the main camera creates a lot of questions.

Ok, I was going to say if you just installed it, it may take a couple of days to "settle in" so to speak. I got nothing for you. Something is playing with your camera for sure.

I thought same. It must be a FaceTime bug.

yep. Might work itself out eventually though. I find after updates a few weeks are needed to sort all the software out.

Finally Good news... I wonder what Tim Cook Thinking now... Increase prices du less sales?
And he said people were benevolent to pay... Aka $1000 phones not expensive at all.

Update on facetime: It seems that battery consumption returned to normal levels after iOS 11.3.1 update. I was on a videocall today around 10 mins and the battery level just dropped about 1-2% in those 10 mins.

@Vasudev I have no credit to rep you.
But to answer your question, the iPhone X is one of the best phones I've owned. Now that I've had it for almost a month. The battery life is stellar. the camera is one of the best if not the best with its natural colors and perfect portrait mode (bokeh effect), the phone is super fast and snappy and best of all, its not gigantic like the iPhone 8 Plus. fits nicely in the hands (ladies??
)
I recommend you get it.Papusan, Metalstream, bloodhawk and 1 other person like this. -
I had the iphone X for a week and my experience was literally the opposite of yours for some reason. Ended up returning it and got the Pixel 2 XL. Pixel 2' Camera is definitely a cut above along with the portrait mode being better, I do miss the manual camera controls from the my S8+. Display i kinda prefer the iPhone X's, which isnt as good as the S8+'s though.
Battery life on the Pixel 2 XL is way better than the iPhoneX, end of the day after about 6 hours of screen on time im left with 5-10% charge on the Pixel 2, where as on the iPhone X with the same type of usage i would barely make it home after about 4.5hours of screen on time.Last edited: Apr 27, 2018 -

Strange bro, for me, and you know I'm an Android fanboy, for some magical reason, my standby time on Android phones suck. I have background app refresh for most apps off on Android but even though, if I charge the phone to 100% leave it for a while, it's down by 20%, on the iPhone, if I don't use it, the battery is like only 1% lower. that's why I am able to get 2 days worth of battery life from my iPhone X with heavy whatsapp and moderate camera use.Vasudev likes this. -
Now,I'm seriously confused. You said exact same things about s8 too? Wasn't the screen size 5.8" which is too big?
I hate the notch it feels like a big spy cam.
Like @bloodhawk said, iphone doesn't even last a day while Android does it w/o any issue.hmscott likes this. -

the S8 screen size is fine but I wan a dual camera for the portrait mode AKA Bokeh Effect and the S8/9 don't have that. only the bigger plus models do. So that's why I chose the iPhone X because it gives me those dual cameras but with a smaller phone. The best of both worlds. -
I was kinda into buying Pixel 2 XL but the build quality is plastic which isn't flagship like device.
iPhone is a major battery drain sometimes. My mom's phone did drain like yours with everything turned ON. I don't turn off bg refresh at all. iph 7 lasts for 4 days with bad LTE coverage. I think I can get close to their 10 days standby times.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
In terms of SOT, iphones are no go for me. Only if Nokia 8 sirocco added OIS I would have got it.

Yeah thats weird. But then again there are lot of regional factors that come into play as well. For example my iPhone 5S used to last me about a day and a half in the US, but when to India to visit my family, the same phone barely lasted me 11 hours lol. When i did some logging, i found that the networks in India are highly inefficient and those in turn cause the phone to use up a lot of power. However lot of other phone there, last slightly longer because they were built with those things in mind. For example my mum Motorola something, and sisters Nexux 6.
Like the S8+ i have lasts me about a 15 hours or so, with 4 hours of screen on time (messaging , emails, bit of games and you tube), but the same US model lasts my dad 6 hours in India. However the Exynos S8+ barely lasts 3 hours over there.
Im guessing our observation have something like this going on well.
There are more factors involved here than what most people consider. Specially the network people are on, how strong their signal is and how efficient the network infrastructure in their region. This plays a key role.
As for the build the Pixel 2 XL feels plastic, but its full metal. The coating feel that way.Vasudev, Spartan@HIDevolution and Papusan like this. -
Apple Desperate To ‘Burn’ Excess iPhone X Reseller Inventory; Alleged Supply Chain Report Estimates Only 8 Million Orders For Q2
Tim Cook’s ASP gimmicks have kept Apple’s Income Statement afloat, they won’t last long unless Apple changes its attitude towards consumers. While people can afford $1000 smartphones due to carrier packages, it’s still too much for a device that fits in the palm. On that note, let’s hope the rumors for an iPhone 9 will bear fruit as they suggest that Apple’s quick to learn from its mistakes – something which was absent in the Jobs era.
Not all is about the screen size. The whole package aka the chassis, not only the screen size. One of the reason I like the Applephone X. Big screen in small form factor. -
My house actually forms a shield against 4G signals so I get only 40-60% signal strength on Airtel. Didn't try Jio since it uses 900/1900/2100 MHz.
Which network were you using in the states and in India?
@Papusan and Phoenix: I just saw an iphone 8 or 8 plus user had a reboot suddenly. I was traveling in a bus and I was able to figure it out she thought it was normal (I judged from facial expression, though).
I hate Apple. I thought about buying it but I forced to reconsider. -
If it had Samsung DeX or Continuum like feature I would buy it in a heartbeat.
-
Here im on AT&T, and its so much better than when i had T-Mobile for like a year way back. In India i have used Vodafone for the most part and even Airtel. Both had the same issues/drain.Vasudev likes this.

Ha ha. I find myself Jumping back and forth between the Huawei p20 pro and the essential phone. I don't know which one to get. The p20 pro has an AMAZING camera, and awesome battery life, but the essential is just so nicely built!
All that said, I do love my iPhone 6s. Its the best out of all the iphones IMO. Nothing they released since has made me want to upgrade.Vasudev likes this. -
Carry 3 phones, use p20 pro for camera, essential and iphone when you want to show-off in your friend's circles. Best of three worlds.
-
Ha ha ha. I will only ever carry one phone. May swap my sim to others, but only one at a time. ha ha.

Planning to choose Nokia 8 sirocco since I'm tired of waiting for iphone X SE or X2 or similar.

I spent an hour in best buy yesterday just floating around. I keep getting drawn to two devices in the store...well 3, 1 the pixel chromebook, 2. Surface book 2 15", and 3. The essential phone. I walked around and used everything there. I keep going back to the essential phone. It's the nicest phone available. I tried the pixels, the xl has a terrible screen, I would not be able to use that. Move it off center of your vision and the blue hue is just out to lunch bad. The regular pixel is just not as nice as the essential. Used the galaxy lineup....EWWWWW trash. Played with the iPhone offerings, x is junk, and the 8 is the same as my 6s. In the notebook, the surface book and pixelbook ROCK!

Buy everything you like and put those devices in the MS Surface Book/Pro's Sleeve. That way you get best of all worlds like I said earlier.
-
Ha ha ha. Again, nope. I am constantly drawn to the pixelbook, it's just so fast, and well built. There is software available for everything you do now. it's a great platform.

Is there a new Pixelbook expected soon? i7 still? Is the one you saw this one reviewed 7 months ago?

Yes, that is the one I was using. It's awesome. If you have not tried it, it's worth your while to. Premium hardware all the way. The best touchpad I have ever used. The keyboard is awesome, Chrome OS is good too now. So overall it's a great device.
