No can do. I'm on a CDMA carrier because GSM coverage in rural Oregon is terrible.

BlackBerry KeyOne Sold Out in Dubai

It's not only sold out in the US, it only took 5 days for it to be sold out in Dubai! Guess BlackBerry didn't expect such high demand! :D

It doesn't even give you the option to pre-order anymore, heck, not even the "Tell me when available" like they do with other phones that's out of stock

Just got my BlackBerry KeyOne Dual Layer Shell

I had the Incipio Dual Pro Case just a few days go and while that was an awesome keys and the volume keys/power key clicked good, this takes it to a next level. The keys now feel as if there is no case on and feel very natural when pressed.

The rubber shell isn't a fingerprint magnet at all and is a bit raised above the screen to protect it when the phone is sitting with the face down.

Highly Recommended! I bought mine from Amazon!

PS: It's out of stock now on Amazon though

Finally, after endless amounts of manually checking for updates for the past month on my BBB100-2 KeyOne, this morning, I woke up, checked for updates and the phone started downloading the update then installed it.

I got AAM481 which is the July 5th Security Patch so I guess BlackBerry decided to skip the June Patch altogether on my phone and jumped straight to the July Patch

I just got it installed so I cannot comment on anything yet but I hope that the phone going into Vibrate mode randomly when it was on silent is fixed. let's see

For contrast, my S7 Edge from US Cellular is still on the April 1, 2017 security patch.

Gotcha, so in this case, the culprit appears to be US Cellular and not Samsung (which means the KEYone wouldn't fair any better if it was on US Cellular). Good to know.

IDK about the US Cellular model, but hmscott... you should flash the U software. I have the G935A flashed to G935U. My updates now come from Samsung, not AT&T. Also, the U system image is squeaky clean. No bloat from AT&T at all. The only carrier branding I have now is the logo printed on the back glass.

EDIT: And also that AT&T text in the status bar is gone. I almost took the device back because of it.

That's a big thing for the Blackberry brand. Maybe if they can break back into the US market, we'll see more devices from them on US carriers in the future. I do feel like they're really trying to bring the Blackberry name back, and the KEYone is a great start.

After going back and forth between a few phones like the HTC U11 then the Galaxy S8. I sold them all and bought another BlackBerry KeyOne but this time the Black Edition which has 4GB of RAM instead of 3 GB and 64GB of internal storage instead of 32GB.

I missed the physical keyboard when after selling my initial BlackBerry KeyOne and kept getting frustrated with making so many mistakes while typing fast on a touch screen keyboard and I missed the 2 day battery life so I bought it again......... love this phone so much!

Inb4 selling it again and buying another 5 phones :D

I'm kinda torn between two phones right now. I like what LG V30 has to offer, but on the other hand Keyone has keyboard and BB Hub, two features that I got used to on my Q10... Decisions, decisions...

well I don't know how hooked you are to the Physical Keyboard like I am but trust me, no matter how much you get used to a virtual keyboard, you will NEVER type with the same precision as you would on a physical one. Then comes the battery life this battery just doesn't wanna every die!! I've been using the phone non-stop since the morning on whatsapp messenger so like the screen was on all the time, like 3 hours of constant hammering and I'm still at 68%

If this was my Galaxy S8 it would be at 30% by now

Then you plug it in to the fast charger and baam, you're at a 100% in no time. Also the standby time of this phone is superb! it stays at 100% for a loooooooooong time

The camera is also great. One big gripe that I hated with the Galaxy S8 is, if you set the resolution to 1080P/60 FPS, there is a video limit of 10 mins for each video you so you can't shoot a long video. With the KeyOne there is such limit (and yes I have tried on my S8 to switch the storage to my external SD Card which is 128GB but no luck)

Can you elaborate more? What do you mean? Remap to what? Each key cab have 2 shortcuts for app launches or specific tasks by a short press or long press.

@Phoenix e.g. make the Alt key on physical keyboard act as Shift, the Shift key on physical keyboard as Ctrl, etc. It's very easy if the phone is rooted, but there's no option to root Android Blackberries to my knowledge - hence the question.

@Phoenix are all the keys easily customizeable like that, or only a few particular ones? E.g. if I want to add second language to the physical keyboard, quite a bit of customization will be required...

You have 26 keysx2 because long press and short press. Switching the languages is super easy just tap and hold the spacebar key and you get a list of your enabled languages and you can even enable a virtual keyboard for when you add a language other than English. My keyboard is English/Arabic but when I wanna type in Russian I switch to the virtual keyboard

The keyboard was the sole purpose why I bought my Q10. I have been using it for the past 3 years. Never got used to virtual keyboard.
Now rewatching reviews for Keyone makes me want to buy it instead of V30.

Doesn't Android support translit? BBOS10 has that option and I use it when I have to type in Russian.

Translit means that when you type Latin "a", for example, " you get a Cyrillic "a", "s" you get "s" (which actually looks like "c" in Cyrillic), basically you get Cyrillic letter counterpart when typing in Latin with few exceptions, because there are a few letters which are not interchangeable between the two.

Translit as in a Phonetic keyboard? I use that to type in Russian too.

Both on my BlackBerry but also on my Chromebook. So A equals a and so on and so forth.

Ah damn... no phonetic (translit) Russian keyboard on the keyone it seems..

And as the devil wanted it, my Passport decided to have its sim card slot break and also broke my sim card.

I am so SOL. Going to get a keyone if I find a good second hand deal, it doesn't seem like the Black Edition vs the Silver one has any significant improvement, the 1GB of RAM doesn't justify paying so much more.

edit: so it seems Amazon will offer me a full refund if I return the Passport I've got; question is whether I should purchase the Black version now... or not

Considering that Android uses virtual keyboard, I'm not surprised it has no translit.

I would probably go with Black Edition, if I still considered buying this phone, just because I prefer black colour over silver.

I cannot decide, not even for the life of me.

The most annoying thing is they've changed so little from the Silver one.. I cannot justify it, but on the other hand the 4GB seems to be a recommendation from a lot of people.

I ordered the Black Edition on Amazon.co.uk since it had a £99 discount.

Now to finding a good case and screen protector on eBay.

Don't get any flimsy mickey mouse branded case, they make the keys very hard to press. This is what I use and it's perfect, provides very solid protection for the phone:

    Case = https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Bl...334337&hash=item33d34216c4:g:VtAAAOSwn5ZZcI2k

    Screen Protector = https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071W9HGFH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I advice you not to use the phone without a case, it is super slippery and it WILL fall off your hand. Don't want no scuffs or scratches on your new BlackBerry
