I have the intention to buy a galaxy s7 but also want it to have the potential of being rooted as I heard that some models of galaxy s7 cannot be rooted.
I found a seller with a decent price on amazon.de. The model number are following:
- Item model number: SM-G930FZKADBT
- ASIN: B01BTZFM0W
-
Its an Exynos model. All of those have been rooted.
So my HTC 10 battery problem? Yeah, T-Mobile US released 1.81.531.1 and they fixed the battery drain from WiFi.
That's not even Greenified... Hell I have Facebook and Messenger installed even!
Needless to say, I'm happy with my phone now. Went from WiFi taking 20% in 8 hours of sleep!
I guess I'll be staying on the stock rooted ROM now because nobody has been able to figure out the WiFi drain and even without WiFi, I've never used a ROM that doesn't have a ton of wakelocks. Even dmesg is finally clean. -
Ahhh the wonders of kernel hacking. Longest SoT I've gotten on any phone I've ever had without using serious battery tweaks. As expected, the issue with Wi-Fi battery drain was firmware, not hardware.
Most of that was gaming which uses the high power cluster too.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Thanks for the answer. I received the model yesterday. To my surprise, the seal seem to be broken in a weird way. So, the first layer of the seal is contact. However, when I was trying to slice off the first layer, suddenly I found that there is a 2nd layer of seal that is broken. This made me question whether this is a new phone or a refurbished one, as it should be a new one.

That's obviously been tampered with. I'd contact the seller.hmscott likes this.

I think you'll be quite happy with it. I love mine and the camera keeps getting better with each firmware update as HTC tends to do. Just don't get a Verizon version if you plan to do any modding or you'll have to physically send your phone away to get security turned off on the bootloader. I've converted my T-Mobile version to US unlocked and back (T-Mobile firmware update was the newest one) with just a few simple commands and a zip file on my SD card. HTC is the only developer friendly flagship right now and luckily its one of the best flagships period right now.

In my mind, the HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 are the two top Android phones (sadly, the LG G5 isn't quite as good, though it is a pretty decent phone). In the past few years, Samsung has been really unfriendly to modders (Knox anyone?). Which is a shame, as I really want a dust/waterproof phone, but I also like being able to fiddle around with MY phone and do with it as I please. However, with two young kids, waterproof > ability to fiddle with phone. I also prefer an AMOLED screen, though it isn't a deal-breaker. I think HTC's implementation of the fingerprint scanner/home button is better than Samsung's. I also like that HTC went with capacitive buttons rather than on-screen ones. I vastly prefer this route, as it gives you more screen real-estate, and lessens the impact of burn-in on AMOLED displays.
If the HTC had been released a bit earlier and was dust/waterproof I would probably have gone with it instead.
Currently I don't really have any complaints about my GS7, aside from the fact I still don't think a QHD display is warranted on a 5.1" display panel - 1080p is just fine and would consume a bit less battery, not to mention ALL the content is created in 1080p. But that's just me. I think QHD was created "just because" - nobody needed it nor asked for it, there's no content (and never will be, as it's either 1080p or 4K) and batteries have trouble enough as it is keeping up with a 1080p display.hmscott likes this. -

Just updated my Galaxy S7 to Nougat Beta 7 manually via this guide: http://www.stechguide.com/update-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-to-android-nougat/
Now you can set the screen resolution to FHD to save more battery life just like in the Note 7
The camera interface is also now like the Note 7 where you swipe left, right, and up/down to change modes
The phone has never feeled snappier!
One of the best battery saving features now in Nougat is the background refresh Data Saver where you can restrict apps to not use any background data unless they are open and in the foreground just like how iOS does:

ATT actually updated my Samsung S7 Edge with the October update in early November, and again 2 weeks later with the November Update, kinda close together, but I am glad they didn't wait, it's nice to get security updates on a frequent basis.
Good news about Nougat, the granular background data option is nice, I usually just turn off background data, and refresh apps on Wifi or as needed on 4LTE.
I'll probably stay on release image, I can wait for others to work out the Nougat bugs, plus beta/alpha code usually has a lot more call home stuff in it... I can do without that as well.
I get 3+ days of battery life on 6.x, that's working well enough for me.
I also disabled my Fast Charging long ago, regular charging is fast enough, and I want to avoid the *boom* battery effects

Yeah, Samsung better put some more time into their power code / design to work out those edge cases (no pun intended) where the battery magically goes "pooof".
A Samsung S7 (non-Edge) went poof recently:
Samsung Galaxy S7 explodes in its owner's hands causing second and third degree burns
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...causing-second-and-third-degree-burns_id87827
"A Canadian man driving his car this past Sunday, ended up with second and third degree burns to his hands after his Samsung Galaxy S7 exploded.
The phone was in the pocket of 34-year old Amarjit Mann when he felt a "warmness." Mann took the phone out of his pocket and it exploded in his hands. The victim calls the Galaxy S7 "a bomb you can carry."
At the time of the blast, Mann had his windows open and was able to get the phone out of the car although at one point he claims that the device stuck to his hand.
Without a phone to call for help, the injured driver was able to drive himself to a friend's home from where he was driven to the hospital.
"I took it out and had it in my hands and it exploded right away. When you see smoke, I was shocked. You cannot expect this thing. It was like a nightmare."-Amarjit Mann, victim of Samsung Galaxy S7 explosion
The phone that exploded was purchased about six months ago for roughly $1,000. Mann's carrier told him to contact Samsung directly, which he says that he will do.
He is planning on filing a lawsuit against Samsung related to the pain from the explosion, and for lost wages. The mechanic was told that it will take eight to nine days for his hands to heal."
"With his heavily bandaged hands, 34 year old Amarjit Mann holds the Samsung Galaxy S7 that exploded in his pocket on Sunday"
