No big deal man, HTC does things differently.
You know, I tried that before and didn't work but I just tried it again and it did.

I also love that HTC made the recent apps button a long press menu button too. I love having my menu button. It also works to get access to the homescreen options.
I'm a bit annoyed with Blinkfeed though. First I had to install the Facebook plugin and now as it stands you can only view and comment on friends posts, not share them. If I wanted that, I'd just use Facebook.bloodhawk likes this. -

love the fact that I can double tap the screen to wake it then double tap again to make it sleep. Very convenient.
Also, coming from a Nexus 6P in the past, HTC's Android version is no diff. than stock Android, to me at least. Love the fact that I don't have all Samsung bloatware and 2 apps for everything like notes, calendar, you name it. I hope to God that I never have to touch a Samsung device again. Bloatware at its purest form + the slowest OS updates.
This device is like the Clevo of phones.

so any quick shortcut for the camera launch like the Galaxy S7 has the double tap the home screen to launch the camera?
PS: I recommend you install Fenix instead of Twitter as it doesn't have the annoying Twitter ads and is an awesome Twitter client. -
Never used Blinkfeed tbh. But you sure its not one of those permission issues?Ethrem likes this.
-
Double swipe down on the screen with the power off... It's hit or miss though. I don't know why HTC removed the camera from the lock screen.
No, not a permission issue. Facebook changed the behavior which is why HTC doesn't even include Facebook anymore, I grabbed the plugin from XDA. -
Ahh.. Typical phasebook.
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
What a stupid shortcut, I can't get it to work no matter what direction I double swipe with.
I saw in the HTC 10 Real Review by Flossy Carter (whom I know you don't like) when he was demonstrating it, he said it's best to swipe a bit in a downward diagonal motion but even that didn't workEthrem likes this. -
Just go up and down really fast, it has worked three times in a row for me that way. I'm sure there's a MOD on xda for it.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

nope, not working, is there a setting to activate this shortcut? Also, does the fact that I have a glass screen protector have anything to do with it not working?Ethrem likes this. -
Push the power button and drag the camera icon into the center. I just realized it does have it, I've just been using the home button which unlocks the phone.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Charged my phone to a 100% 6 hours ago. Made 2 phone calls for a total of 15 minutes. Checked my email a few times (received about 4 emails), took 2 photos, battery life still @ 94%.
The standby time on this phone is superb. just like an iPhone. It stomps all over the joke of a standby time of Any Samsung phone, period. -

@Mr. Fox @Papusan @Ethrem @bloodhawk @Prema
New AnTuTu score of 138043 after charging the phone to 94% and it's been 24 hours since I've started using it so I think it has settled well. a 1K increase over my previous 10 Score
As Mr. Fox says, images / links or it didn't happen.......

My the silicon angels be with you so you get a Tianma display.
Also, don't be surprised if your initial benchmark is low, it needs time once the phone is settled, then run another benchmark and see the difference. Also make sure your phone is fully charged. -

BTW, we usually get a 1 year warranty with any device here in Dubai but HTC has a 2 year warranty sticker on the box and a 6 months screen replacement warranty for any defects. very nice.
-
Did you get the uh-oh protection too? HTC decided not to give it to US customers this time around unless they ordered it from their website but countries with uh-oh can get a replacement phone within the first 12 months if they break it (screen or water) free from HTC. It's a pretty sweet deal.
Nice AnTuTu score. Your PVS bin is obviously better than mine. Not really a huge deal to me though, I'm loving this phone. HTC needs to fix the Wi-Fi bug but LTE has no battery drain on standby. Hopefully a new Broadcom driver will come out soon.
I also have to say that while I was worried about going down to a 5.2 inch screen, I can actually type on this thing and I haven't even bothered to replace the stock TouchPal keyboard with SwiftKey so my speed will go up even more. I think I'll stick with this size from now on.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Woot?
So mine should be with uh oh ? Last i read somewhere, they stopped doing that with the HTC 10.Ethrem likes this. -
It was previously available for all devices but now it's only from HTC directly at least in the US

No uh oh for me just a 6 months screen accidental damage coverage plus the 2 year warranty, better than any other phone warranty here in DubaiEthrem likes this. -
6 months is better than what I got lol. I've yet to ever break a screen though and I don't use my phone in the rain so I'm not too worried about it.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Dang! Would love to see how much flar's kernel can push this.
Is faux still in the HTC game?Ethrem likes this. -
That was with flar2's kernel. Currently it only has two OC boosts and isn't likely to get more, the phone can't even sustain the two offered now.
I haven't seen faux in there yet but there are like three kernels right now. EX is the only one I'll use personally. The one yesterday had a charging bug but he updated with the new HTC kernel source and fixed the charging bug today too.bloodhawk likes this. -

I was just on a 2 hour Skype call (VoIP) from Dubai to the US and 15 mins on Facebook, battery life still @ 59%. Standby time is superb! loving this phone. This is with all my apps loaded.
Full review coming soon with camera testing and what not.Ethrem likes this. -
Looking forward to it. I can't really do a full indepth review myself, I don't really leave the house which makes my experience pretty consistent versus someone on the go.
By the way, HTC has the worst signal bars. They always have. The signal itself will be the same or better than another phone and the HTC will have less bars. I think it's just HTC being more honest about the signal than Samsung or Apple but it puts a lot of people off when they see three bars on the HTC and five on their S7. Network diagnostics show them to have the same actual signal though.Spartan@HIDevolution and bloodhawk like this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
negative on that for me.....
Using the same carrier, in the same location at home:
Samsung = 2 bars out of 5
iPhone SE and 6S = 4 bars out of 5
HTC 10 = 4 bars out of 10
Maybe that explains my horrible standby time on the Samsung phones when I seem to be the only one on the Android Central forums complaining about battery life with every Samsung phone I owned. I think their radio sucks compared to other phones because it can't be a coincidence, I had this problem on every Samsung phone and my apps are always the same on any phone.....
They think I am a troll on the Android Central forums because I keep complaining about the battery life and they say I'm the only one.Ethrem likes this. -
You're not the only one. Samsung has a lot of fanboys.
If you compare *#*#4636#*#* info between phones, the actual signal difference between the Android devices is generally within 2-3dB
And 10 bars?! US edition only has 5 lol
4/10 still equals 2/5 when properly reduced though

If you access that menu @Phoenix do not change anything you are not sure about.hmscott, Spartan@HIDevolution and Ethrem like this.
-
True. It doesn't actually work on the 10 anyway, no signal strength listed. Just use Settings / About / Network to see the values if you want to compare devices @Phoenixhmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.
-
Weird, should be standard on all HTC phones. But i guess its better this way. Thanks for the heads up.
-
-
Ah , i guess its easily accessible without this menu now. I remember i had to force networks when Tmobile was just starting to roll out 4G in SF. But after the move to ATT, i have yet to have a dropped call or low signal, both in LA and SF.
-
That's one thing Samsung has always had a leg up on... *#2263# gives you full control over the radio including your preferred LTE band. HTC has never had something so comprehensive while Samsung has had it since at least the Captivate (my first Samsung phone).
-
Ah the US version of the Galaxy S. I had to to spend so much time and money to get that to India, it blew the stock Galaxy S out of the water in looks and build. Lasted me a good 2 years.
That control was the only thing that let me salvage some connectivity on my Sprint S3. Most networks are just garbage indoors in SF. -
Most networks are garbage in Colorado... We have some of the worst reliability ratings in the country. With that said, T-Mobile has the best coverage in Denver and it's suburbs. I just wish they would get consistent carrier aggregation going since we are in a market that doesn't have contiguous band IV. It's split into 10MHz and another 5MHz and we have 5MHz of band 12.hmscott likes this.
-
Oh tell me about it. Sometimes international phones that work just fine on the west cost, refuse to work on the same network on the east cost. Its pretty stupid not using the same band on the same network in the same country. I know there is more to this, but then again, as an end user it frustrating some times. I had to try 3 networks before settling on AT&T.
-
Lol that's nothing. I had to move so much that between 2009 and 2012 it went Sprint > ATT > T-Mobile > ATT (H2o wireless then Straight Talk) > Verizon > T-Mobile. I've now had T-Mobile since 2012 and I've moved three times including into a basement and it worked everywhere. Data was bad in the basement though.

- Auto HDR for main camera and selfie
- Performance enhancements -
Yeah I have all those updates. Came with the US unlocked ROM. Didn't realize US unlocked was actually ahead of WWE - what's your software version? I'm on 1.53.617.5
You tested the camera much yet? I haven't really had an opportunity to try it out yet myself. -

mine is 1.30.401.1
didn't play with the camera yet but I will soon.

Those bases seem to be so far apart. Usually WWE updates come out last. From experience carriers like ATT get them first.

That's opposite to Samsung phones where international/unlocked versions get the updates first while we see the people having carrier phones begging for an update. -

BTW @Ethrem / @bloodhawk
Having had owned a Nexus 6P before, this is even better because, stock Android camera app sucks major *** while this one retains the stock Android feel, no double apps of everything like in Samsung, and beautiful camera -
Actually it's usually unlocked, WWE, then carrier. T-Mobile is currently two builds behind the US unlocked and it would appear WWE is one behind.
That pic is much better than the iPhone SE, I had to zoom quite a bit before it got noisy.
I miss HTC Gallery though. I've had the stock gallery crash on me when trying to view a picture I just took.
I don't mind the stock calendar app or most others but I think HTC's gallery was better.bloodhawk likes this.
