It's a shame that AT&T decided not to carry the 10.bloodhawk likes this. -
btw. did both of you guys get the Silver one ?
Because the Carbon Grey is very difficult to find. At least that what HTC told me. They are having stock shortage for the dark one.Ethrem likes this. -

This phone's battery is like a beast. I am using it non-stop all day and it's been 10 hours since I woke up and charged it, still @ 60%

All background refresh off except for whatsapp / Vyber
All apps set to always optimize using Doze
mind you, this battery life I am getting is WITH the VPN.AC on and connected to the US/Dallas server . If I turn that off, the battery would last forever.
PS: NFC = Off. Bluetooth = Off. Wifi = ON. Cell Signal = 4G -
It could also be the Wi-Fi bug though... I just hate using my data plan...

Of course, a lot of people who did not do S-OFF may not even know if it affects them or not. -

Here is an image that shows you that I am suffering from the bug. The suspend and resume... It's constantly sleeping and waking Wi-Fi.
That's a big problem. You need root to be able to check and see if it's affecting you or not but with your battery life I would bet it is not.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I cannot thank you enough for tempting me and making me buy this device. This is like the Clevo of Mobile phones.Ethrem likes this. -
If HTC was to be compared, Clevo would be a good way to put it. Decent out of the box but fully modable to be even better. Only device on the market with so much control.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I know you don't like videos but I thought you might enjoy this one. I had high hopes for the G5 after hearing good things about the G4 back in the day but never buying it...
This was the phone I was contemplating to buy before you convinced me to get the HTC 10:

I've already gotten 2 monthly updates through ATT for the Samsung S7 Edge, not including all the updates I got out of the box.Last edited: Jun 9, 2016Ethrem and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Battery saving tips for @Ethrem:
1- Settings > Sound & Notification > Uncheck "Vibrate on touch"
2- Settings > Sound & Notification > Flash LED for notifications = When screen is off
3- Settings > Language & Keyboard > Touchpal - HTC Version > General Settings > Keypress Vibration = Slide it to the left to disable
4- Restrict Location access to the apps that you only need them to have it. -

Just ordered this screen protector as I think the reason I can never get this double swipe down to launch camera gesture to work is because of my current glass screen protector:
HTC 10 Screen Protector Crystal - CR -
I actually like the vibration. I know it's a battery killer but I've always liked the feedback since we went to touchscreen only.
And yeah the G5 is another LG disaster. I honestly wouldn't have gotten a flagship until 4Q if the 10 wasn't released.hmscott likes this. -

I am getting really good battery life too:
I'm still on the same charge as these posts:

Word on XDA is that HTC is pushing a new update soon. Fingers crossed it fixes the WiFi drain.

The Samsung S7 Edge also has a Application Optimization Settings tool, and that takes time to tune the apps - that takes some elapsed time to take effect.
I have done similar tuning for other Android phones, always getting much better time than others quote from stock untouched un-tuned phones.
So, I guess it's true that the results are atypical from what a non-tuned non-patched Samsung S7 Edge would get.
You gotta put in some tuning time to get the extended battery time.
Your HTC 10 will be doing much better with Greenify too, and then do the normal disablement of all the stuff that runs in the background that you don't need.
Coupled with strict closing of apps and turning off the screen, using the Always On screen, and modulating the Wifi as needed.
For now in the HTC 10 case, disabling Wifi when screen is off, at least.
I normally leave the Wifi on all the time, and it is on in the current battery run time results.
Here is the whole Battery settings, I don't have Power Savings on either

The HTC is fine. Even with the WiFi drain its not that bad. If I use it heavily, I have to charge it before bed. I play games on it too though. That slick Adreno 530 can suck some juice.hmscott likes this. -
Yeah, I definitely don't have any game playing time on my current battery run timeEthrem likes this. -

I turned off Wi-Fi... Guess which part of the screenshot is without Wi-Fi? I'll give you a hint... It's toward the end... Definitely a huge Wi-Fi drain. Since I turned it off, I lost 1%hmscott likes this. -

Just realized HTC has a Mail app......
I never noticed this before until today I was trying to email a photo and I was prompted if I wanna do it using the Gmail app or the Mail app.
What is the use of the latter? Does it allow deleting of emails? The reason I ask is because on my iPhone, the default iOS mail app has no delete option only archive so I had to use the Gmail app
What are the benefits of using the built in mail app vs the Gmail app?
I don't want to use two just the better one -
So with Wi-Fi off...
Most of the screen on time was gaming no less... This phone has amazing battery on LTE. If they fix the Wi-Fi I'll be blown away. My phone is overclocked as well.
I haven't gotten over 24 hours since the Blackberry.hmscott, Spartan@HIDevolution and bloodhawk like this. -

It's a carrier phone but there isn't a stock ROM flash kit (RUU) for T-Mobile yet so I can't put it back to stock until there is one. Without the RUU turning security back on can brick the phone if the image signature doesn't match and sending it back with a big red "property of HTC" logo on it isn't really a good idea. The downside of security off is that it shows red text in the bootloader, in the recovery, and when the phone boots that says it's a developer phone and property of HTC. Pretty dead giveaway that it's been modified lol. Most other phones you have to actually go to the Bootloader to see the flags and that's the case with security on and Bootloader unlocked but not with security off as that's not HTC sanctioned (not only because it is the only way to actually brick your device but because it is also the only way to remove any trace of ever unlocking the Bootloader).hmscott likes this. -

Damn, this thread became really long, really fast. Quite surprised that even @Phoenix has gotten a HTC 10. I, by virtue of the fact that I live in Southeast Asia, have been left out of the HTC 10 bandwagon and I'm still limping on with my M8 since HTC hasn't released their phones here yet through carriers (carrier phones in Singapore are unlocked anyway, and have zero carrier bloatware). And to think that I wanted to be one of the first few people on NBR to get the 10...
I was really looking forward to the great camera and incredible DAC, since I was going to purchase a nice new set of Sennheiser/Bose in-ear headphones... Looks like I'll have to wait until July at least.hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
