Apple is waiting for right time to capitalise on high RAM and High Storage variant just like Samsung! 8GB RAM on iDevice.

You think he'll try to run Apple right into Hell? I think Apple have more than enough with damage control due too high prices for now. Pay even more for more ram on equal (same) models will send the ship even further down the drain faster than you think. Only option he have is to release a cheaper downscaled model. Not cripple their flagship.

They'll cripple any phones after a year. I think Tim will slash 200$ off on XR series and XS series. Anything lower people will feel Apple is cheaping out to boost sales.

That being said, you pay for extra ram in laptop / desktop systems now. What makes phones any different? btw, wtf is your avatar? ha ha.

In laptops/desktops you can remove existing RAM sticks and Storage when it has failed. In phone you need a replacement phone since heating or desoldering them and buying new parts are costlier than replacement phones.

again, your point? You pay for more ram on computers, you pay for more ram on phones. There are lots of computers now with soldered ram as well. I fail to see your point.

So. You pay for those upgrades. Simple. You don’t get free ram upgrades. Think about it. Again, most laptops now are going with soldered ram anyways. Your point has very little merit.

I've never got replaceable ram on a phone EVER, either. It's a pointless argument. EVEN IF YOU DO HAVE REPLACEABLE RAM, YOU PAY FOR IT!!!!!! :err:

Re-read the post, I said I don't get soldered RAM on PCs, on phones/tablets you can't do much and use OEM memory ICs.
Even if I pay for extra RAM I bought from Amazon its not an OEM model that suddenly vanishes into thin air after few months. You can technically desolder the DRAM ICs and get modules from OEM(Micron,SK Hynix, Sammy and others, but it is expensive)

It's like talking to a wall. Again, YOU PAY FOR YOUR RAM. I don't care how much. or where you get it from, YOU PAY FOR IT. Giving free ram upgrades on phones (which is your entire point), is SILLY!

I think his argument isn’t that he’s asking for free RAM as you imply, but having the ability for the end user to replace/upgrade the RAM in their phone.

Sort of like how we used to have that for phone batteries and how we have that for storage capacity (at least in microSD).

I said to kojack I am referencing my hate for soldered RAM on PCs.
Replacing RAM ICs can be done if the vendor doesn't whitelist only specific RAM ICs to preserve Secure boot and other security mechanisms.

Not many laptops today will come with below 16GB ram. And you can add in more later. And the high end phones is more like +-$1200/1600 nowadays. More than enough.

I just switched to my old avatar. I needed a change :)

TIM, You say Innovation is expencive and maybe the reason for the slow down?, but will it be more expenciuve than losing More Customers?

Apple Losing More Customers in China as Retailers Claim Better Pricing and Features From Competitors’ Devices

This year’s iPhones aren’t expected to be big on innovations either, with previous info including a triple camera with a smaller notch. Chinese companies, on the other hand, are invested in new trends such as foldable smartphones and 5G-compatible devices, which are in their nascent stages right now, but as better technology and manufacturing processes are available in the future, the products will eventually improve.

Apple is reportedly preparing a 5G-ready iPhone for next year, along with a foldable device. While the California-based giant waits for the technology to mature so it can be perfected, it is possible that this lack of early adoption causes the company to lose further ground in China. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see how improved the newer models have become when they launch in late 2019.

Maybe your company should reduce prices if you have stopped up your expencive Innovation?

iPhone XR Gets A 25% Discount In India, Apple Struggling With Brand Image?:)
Just like it did with the iPhone X, Apple overestimated demand for the iPhone XR and as a result, was forced to cut down orders from the smartphone’s supply chain later on. The US’ increasing trade hostilities with China didn’t help and resulted in the company issuing its first earnings revision in years. After things settled, and in order to compete with companies such as Huawei, the Cupertino tech giant reduced its iPhone XR prices in China. Now, it’s doing the same in India. Take a look below for more details. Tim Cook will you continue with the annual prices increase for your 2019 model line?

Depends on how much money I'm willing to blow for something with gobs of storage. For the lower costs, 8 or X. For the higher costs, Xs.

I'm in no hurry though. The only reason I'm considering moving from the 6S+ is due to storage capacity running slim for me on 32GB. Everything else about my current phone is just fine, but Apple doesn't believe in microSD :)

Tried contacting Strange Part's Youtuber? He did sell 6s with 128GB/256GB ROM from Apple. He is using the same thing as his daily driver and even upgraded the battery to higher capacity. In his latest video, he did say he's in Ottawa for few days and then he'll go to China for work.

I vote for the 8. I love mine. I have been toying with moving to the Xr, but more I think and look....the 8 is the better of all of them. why? it's just as fast. It has touch ID, instead of FARCE ID, and it's just a nicer, easier to use phone with the home "button". the swipey thing is a step backwards in functionality for the sake of "style".

I sold my wife's 6s the other day. I am holding onto mine, my son will need an actual phone soon, so I have it ready to go with his info on it. I got the 8 because of the wireless charging and we got great deals on ours from my wife's employer. If we never got those deals, I would still be happy using my 6s. We also got new watch 3's on LTE too. Makes every other wearable seem basic.

IIRC, it was 2000-2400mAh battery on the same design. Yeah he didn't have performance issues since wear level was 20% which means 80% battery life was being provided but for him SOT was 2-3 hrs versus 6hrs.

    Good News.

Apple’s iPhone Woes Continue In Q2 2019 As Revenue Is Down By 5%
The company’s been seeing ‘tough’ times lately, as the company has struggled to justify its high prices and brand image to customers in China and India. Its iPhone upgrade cycles have slowed down, and despite the launch of the iPhone XR last year, Apple has been unsuccessful to reduce the duration of this cycle. As a result, the company is now focusing on services and is upgrading its product portfolio across the line.

High storage capacity are still the same, just 2$ off plus you need to pay some cash to store to get exclusive support since we don't have Apple Store in India.
At the price of iPhone XR I can get iphone 8/8+ 128/256GB.

But India gets only pathetic Intel modem.... I might try ebay or even buy Nokia 6.1 and Pixel 4/whatever w/o notch botch. I grabbed P2XL at the wrong time since its stopped manufacturing while P3XL has been slashed by 100$ on top end model and 200$ on 64GB models. But 4GB isn't enough on Android that too with advanced Pixel Camera hardware and software 6GB is recommended.
I can switch out the RAM from 4GB to 8GB using either Micron or Sammy but TITAN M security chip will prevent non-authorised parts from booting the device or even running for 24/7 stability. That's the reason I opted for P2XL JB color, after hearing the discontinued notice and slashed prices of P3, I decided to hold off and use mid-range phone for few months rather than use inferior phone that'll cause more headaches in the long run!
If I get a Qualcomm model of iPhone then I'm buying it or otherwise.

5,400 trackers found on iPhone bleeding up to 1.5 GB private data over a month Notebookcheck.com | May 29, 2019
Apple likes to claim that buying an iPhone means buying into an ecosystem where user data is sacrosanct. An examination by the Washington Post demonstrates that the reality is quite a different picture.

Apple likes to claim the high moral ground no on user privacy and that may well be true when it comes to the data Apple collects from users. However, what Apple doesn’t make clear (they don't care) is that it doesn’t take the same level of care to protect the data that other apps collect about users and forward remotely in many cases without explicit user consent.

Apple know very what going out from your phone. You pay Apple a hell lot money for their so called "ecosystem where user data is sacrosanct (inviolable)". They should stop with their false claims. Because theiy aren't any better than the rest of the trash companies.

EDIT: I couldn't even pronounce sacrosanct. Damn...
