Pricing would be in line with comparable Windows based PCs. Simple. Price the MacBook pro 2 in 1 15" the same as the xps 15 2 in 1.

OS X is crappy w/o a mouse while iOS is crappy with keyboard and mouse and works best with Pen/Finger.

Apple Reportedly Cutting iPhone Production by 10% for the January-March Period Due to Waning Demand wccftech.com | 9 Jan, 2019
Apple Is Slashing Production of All the iPhone Models Released Last Year
There have been numerous reports claiming that Apple has cut production in the last few months, eliciting an impression that production has been slashed a dozen times since the release of the latest iPhones. However, Apple has reportedly done that only twice in two months, so the situation might not be as bad as it sounds.
This time around Nikkei states that Apple has ordered production cuts for all the three new models and not just the iPhone XR. The production plans have been trimmed by nearly 10 percent for the March quarter. This means that around 40 and 43 million units of the new phones will be produced during the January-March 2019 period. Previously, it was predicted that Apple will produce about 47 million to 48 million units during this time frame. The company had shipped 52 million iPhones during the same period in 2018.Vasudev likes this. -
Now qualcomm patent can ban iphone 7 onwards and then Apple can resume XS and XR production and PR will handle the job saying Qualcomm is the culprit and Anti-competitive for Tech company. Apple can kill 7 &8 with One qualcomm patent. General public will think Apple is the victim and sympathize with them!
-
I recall some time ago that Cook (or someone else) claimed that the Xr was the best-selling current iPhone. If that’s flopping, what’s to say how badly the Xs / Xs Max are doing.
-
Like Apple announced, sales figure doesn't count only money matters! Earlier Apple used to sell more than million phones worldwide and take in billions of dollars, now they sell few thousands and starting to make billions with less production cost and incremental features.
-
What is the battery life like on newer models these days? Real world usage and not manufacturer specs?
-
On iphones or Macbooks or windows laptops?
If you're on iphone and Macintoshes the battery life should be more or less similar to your current Apple products. Maybe if you're lucky you might an hour or so. With tweaking you can raise the battery life by 30 mins or 45min on current devices. -
The newer iPhones. The last one I had would not last an entire day. Granted that was an 5s. Hopefully they've improved. My Huawei Mate9 would last a min 48 hours.
-
Even older iphones only last 50% of advertised battery on ios 12.1.2. My mom's need recharging every 2 days unlike ios 12 Developer beta which lasted for 4 days on same usage patterns as of ios 12.1.2. On ios 10 the battery used to last for 6 days on similar use cases.
I won't say about crap iOS 11 POS. The battery lasts for only 18 hrs or sometimes dies within 3 hrs from 100 to 0% -
Again, I go through a full day of heavy usage on my iPhone 8 running the latest IOS version and at the end of the day I have between 70-80 percent battery left. My wife's and my son's iPhone 8 phones are the same.
-
Apple Replaced a Total of 11 Million Batteries in 2018, a Maximum of 11 Times the Number It Normally Replaces
With several million users now potentially satisfied with the performance of their iPhones, it means they would no longer have to spend exorbitant amounts of money getting the latest and greatest iPhone
Also, the fact that users are upgrading their devices less thanks to prolonged software support is another reason. Some reports have also said that iPhone sales have slowed due to market saturation and Apple’s plan of charging a premium for its handsets was not helping the company either.
Wonderful, helping their customers to avoid buying a new phone. The true love for their customers

Your phone is new and not even an year old from your purchase date.
Maybe something is broken after ios 12.1.2 update which address cellular connection and now the signals are worse. -
My sons phone is over a year old. Maybe your moms phones battery is done. Nothing the fault of apple, iOS or otherwise. My dell computers battery died, I did not blame dell or Microsoft.
-
But you got it just 4 months ago!
The battery capacity is showing 90% once it drops to 70% we'll be getting Android phones. Good riddance Apple! -
MY SON'S is over a year old. Please read. He got his LAST Christmas. as in Christmas of 2017. I got mine in may of 2018 AFTER him. "facepalm".
Just remember the grass is NOT always greener on the other side of the fence. -
Yes I know that well but Apple iphones are disappointing. Might give the battery replacement a try! A barely used phone with 10% battery wear level sounds really bad!
-
Oh, No, Please go. Try android and see what you think. I was giving you my experience of it all. I know that it sounds like your mom's phone is having a battery issue. But try android. In order to get the gargantuan battery life you are looking for you are going to shell out a lot of money for a few very specific phones. Otherwise your battery life will be half of what you get on iPhone. Even to this day, android's background processes use more resources, and battery than IOS. So unless you are willing to shell out for a top model phone, I doubt you will have the battery life you are looking for. Also, Don't forget about the reboot of your OS every few months after it starts getting clogged down with crap.
If you don't mind that, Give'r a go! -
I didn't mean to set off a Apple/Android debate. I was genuinely asking if they had improved. It seems they have but have not kept up with some Android devices.
If battery life is your main concern when jumping to Android I would recommend most Huawei devices. Heck, they even look as Apple as an Android can (without a specific skin). The Mate 9, 10 or 20 series will easily last 2 days from my experience.
Samsung and OnePlus do alright with their newer devices too. Not sure about the Pixels. -
It'll be the top end phones anyways. I have managed to tame android and I'm using a very old android phone to test things out and so far its been great. Going from 6 hrs to 3 days of battery on 2000mAh battery of Samsung core prime. On standby it lasts for 8-10 days even with Wifi usage. Custom ROMs are buggy.
I have to see/check which is the best upgrade path for S7,iphone 7, Redmi 4X? It might be S9's,Pixels or even LG V ThinQ.hmscott likes this. -
Turning it off when not using it is not standby time.
-
Then it will have lasted a century or some millennia.
Its screen off-time or whatever they call it. -
There are no android phones that last 10 days on standby. The iPhone is the king of preserving battery when idle, and it’s not able to pull that off.
-
I never got rated standby time from an iphone ever! The max standby time I reached was just 4-6 days with majority of battery test completing at 4 days. Only ios10.3 managed 6 days and newer version were consistently lower than ios10.
-
I disagree with you. My iPhones of every version right from the 4 to my current 8 always met or surpassed rated battery useage times, my android phones, never came close. That being said, I am never without my charger when I travel, and my phone easily lasts the day with 70% of its battery remain at least. So, I don’t care about standby times etc.
-
Just tell me about your experience of iphone 7 A1778 model.
If you don't care about standby times and carry a adapter/charger always then any phones will do! Most of the iphone users go for new iphones just because of better standby times and iMessage. -
I don't carry my adapter only when I am travelling. I bypassed the 7. I used my 6s up until I bought my 8. I made the comment about usage times as I don't think about it with my iPhone, where as with my android phones, I was always carrying extra batteries, and power banks, etc just to make it through a work day. Now, I wake up at 5, my phone is off charge and used heavily until about 930 pm every night. during that time I use approximately 20 percent of the total battery in my phone. I can go 3 days of HEAVY usage with my iPhone. I could not get 10 hours of heavy usage out of ANY android phone I owned, which was quite a few as well. I am not brand loyal, platform loyal, or anything of the sort, I do tend to keep using what served me well and get rid of the crap that fails a lot. Hence, I do not own any android phone anymore, and I do not own any apple computer or asus computer.
Again, I reiterate, the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. If you think android phones will be the jesus to your battery issues, by all means HAVE AT IT. The only phone I know of with enough battery to make it through a full day on the android side of things (heavy usage of course), is the note 9 and the Huawei offerings. All others you are plugging in at some point during the day/evening. -
Do you mind posting the model number of your iphone 8?
As for battery issues, let's see what happens. -
I have the iPhone X. If I could get 1/3 of what you is able to do with yours I would be amazed
Maybe turn of the screen and punch in blind?
Vasudev likes this. -
I think the X is a power hog afaik. As for the model? it's the iPhone 8 that is available through telus in Canada. if that helps.
-
He has a Qualcomm modem unlike our Intel modem that's why the difference!
I disabled iOS updates and so far I'm seeing an additional day of battery. I've disabled screen time and see how it affects the battery life.
Figured it out why your iphone has good battery!
Yours is a qualcomm modem chip which has improved battery life even when LTE signals are low. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_8
North America and Japan get Qualcomm modem based models! Simple fact that Qualcomm demolishes the competition!
You should have posted the full info after checking 3utools or About iphone section. -
I just know how my iPhone works. I don't care what model it is, etc. I plug it in at night, take it off charge in the morning, when I go plug it in at night, I still have 70-80 percent of my battery left. My 6s was about 50-60 percent over the same time frame when I got my 8. I think that was due to battery wear. My wife's and son's 8s and 6s were very similar.
-
I don't know your usage but can't be much more than idle and min brightness all day. One review of many and most of them show the same... And we have more than one Iphone and one model here home. I expect you have the Plus model.
Vasudev likes this. -
My usage is MUCH MORE than minimum brightness and idle. I am communicating ALL DAY using text, calls, on different websites, calculators, various travel apps etc. EVERY DAY/ALL DAY. Anyhoo...
-
He has an iphone 8. Because its a qualcomm modem which is barely utilized by Apple to make it as same speed as Intel.
If you have given the model number at first we didn't have these garbage posts. Qualcomm is better than Intel. -
I don't know the model only that I have an iPhone 8, 6s, 5s, 4s, 4 x 3, for our family, and all of them were WAY better than android phones of the same generation. That's what I am saying. I bought 3 of each for us, and I bought a crap load of android and windows mobile phones for myself and my wife. we tried it all.
-
I'm tired really, I mean you have a different sub-model with qualcomm chip. That's makes a difference.
-
I don't doubt on your experience bruh, but I can't see Apple will push out same products and half of them will only deliver under half battery life vs the one who deliver the best. This is the same as ask for trouble from the buyers if they see they are screwed. All good, sir.
Iphone 8 come in two sizes.

Yeah I know that, by iphone 8 I mean the 4.7" with huge bezels which looks like 6s/7 model and single camera.

Meanwhile, Apple has listed the iPhone SE back in stock TWICE now at reduced price points, and it’s sold out both times. TAKE A HINT APPLE

Apple CEO Tim Cook Admits High iPhone Pricing Is One Reason for Declining Yearly Upgrades
Apple reported its first fiscal quarter earnings of 2019, summarizing net sales of $73 billion. With declining iPhone sales, many industry analysts have continuously pointed out that Apple needs to reduce the price of its iPhones in order to maintain a steady momentum. As it turns out, Tim Cook also admits that the high price of the iPhone was one of the reasons why there were fewer smartphone upgrades. However, going into more detail, Cook relays that the high price of the iPhone also depended on your geographical location.

iPhone: Apple sells upgrades instead of repairs notebookcheck.com | Feb 10, 2019
After the iPhone sales in the past few months left to be desired, the Group now relies on more aggressive sales tactics. Instead of repairing a device, the Group is now encouraging its customers to switch to a new iPhone. -
Like... isn’t that a common tactic for any sort of industry?

Apple Is Now Offering Chinese Shoppers Two-Year iPhone Financing wccftech.com | Feb 22, 2019
Mr. Cook alludes to the trade war between the United States and China, and to the greater economy as a whole. These factors probably aren’t helping, but it seems that Apple has simply priced itself a bit high in the market (a wrong it sought to right recently), in addition to a general consumer preference shift in mainland China that has seen Huawei move into the spotlight there.
Apple is doing all it can here to bolster sales of its flagship product, the iPhone. Apple saw a decrease of nearly $5 billion in China last year and the firm is betting a financing program may entice buyers back to the iOS camp. -
The iPhone SE was back in stock on Apple online store "clearance" section and immediately sold out....for the third time. At $300 for a 128GB iPhone, it is easily the best deal in the phone market for such a premium, fast device at that price point. Imagine how many they would sell if they just updated the SOC, cameras, touch ID to second gen, and the cell modem, priced at 499$. Instant cash, unlike the rest of their latest lineup. That form factor is perfection. Nobody "needs" OLED, nobody needs dual or triple cameras, or all the other gimmicks.
Arrrrbol, Vasudev, kojack and 1 other person like this. -
Exactly. A lot of that is gimmicks to lure the spec shopper. If the pixel can rip off amazing photos from one sensor, every other device can too. Take my old 1020. That produced AMAZING images. Better than anything I have seen in a phone since. There was just "something" about them. Now, apple can do the same thing. But choose to follow the android rush for more lenses etc. Just get a great single lens sensor, work the magic in the processing and you have a winner. Same thing with Oled, Again, I go back to my 1020. Screen burn in was real. None of my iPhone devices had that problem. Both of my 1020's did.
As for the size, I do like the size of my iPhone 6s and 8 more than my son's 5s he had. So I vote, just make the new iPhone SE from the 6s etc. either that, make a new SE in the size of the 5, and make it full screen. Using LCD of course, like the Xr but smaller! -
