I have seen som thread but don't find what I need...
Can my cpu is at 2.80 now can I overclock it to 3.00 or somthing?
At the Vista test my computer get 5.6 everey thing is 5,8 or 5,7 but only CPU is very low at 5,5 i think...
Can some one help mee?
And My GPU Don't understand how turbcach memory work does any of you ?
Thanks in advance waiting for replay (S)...
-
A: you cant manually overclock the CPU front side bus.
B: Your video card should run fine with any recent game with no overclock,But give rivatuner a try.
C:5.5 IS A GOOD SCORE for a T9600. -
Dear deadsoulaxix !
Thanks for your answer, does this mean there actually is no way to get this notebook faster?
How about 8GB RAM, does it do big performans change?
And Turbocach, how does it work? -
How to get it faster? Do you really need any more power? That system is top spec as far as a laptop is concerned and you should just use it as it is. The only thing making your system slow is the bloatware that Toshiba has installed on it by default. Get rid of this and you will be flying!
-
I have done that, I don't get a recovery cd with my pc so I installed Vista manully becouse change of hardisk to 7200 RPM...
FN and touch panlel don't work...
I have installed chipsed and everey thing... But is there any more?
There is Three (3) Unknown Device when I look at devices (Don't know how to write it right my system is Turkish...) but can this make sense?
I have send toshiba mail but they have not answerd me yet... (send it before xmas)
And one last thing, does I have SLI ? -
The things that are displayed as unknown device will be the infrared driver, the remote control driver. The touch panel is installed with the Value Added package, These are all available on Toshibas site
-
Infrared driver and remote control driver is installed bro.
Touch panel i mean dobly, mute, lamp on/of...
Every thing is installed but not Toshiba TEMPRO or what ever that is, I have read it slows down the system... (Many users have problem with slow boot up, I don't have... Have read it at Toshiba-forums... -
You can install a faster CPU such as a Intel Extreme X9100 and that will bring your Windows score from 5.5 to 5.7, but you will have to open your laptop to do this and it *may* void your warranty. The laptop you have now is probably in the top 10% of the fastest laptops currently available. I hope this helps. Happy New Year and God Bless
-
Okay, thanks bro...
I have seen this before... But Does it use a normal deskop cpu? -
No our notebooks use MOBILE processors. The Intel Extreme X9100 is the fastest Dual Core Processor made by Intel. -
Okay, do you have any idea about where I can find this type processor...
I find only;
Intel Socket 771
Intel Socket 775
Socket 1366
Socket FCPGA6
Socket FCPGA8
Socket uFCPGA -
Wow man! I like your spirit, you have an awsome laptop and you still want it to be better.
Maybe you can find the processor in the intel page:
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=35431
Good luck! -
Hehe, thanks man, quad core and 8GB ram is the only thing I need...
I check it out man thanks...
Edit;
Okay, man that was what I was looking for but it is a bit expensive her in Norway
Maybe I must wait a little bit, but any way If i upgrade to 8GB wil this make much sense? -
If you do animation and design stuff in your laptop it would make sense, but if you only surf the web and play games, those 4GB are extra.
Trust me, Im a designer, I use photoshop most of the time, and I work with files over 200mb in size, I barely fill 70% of my 4GB RAM.
Hope this gives you an idea.
-
Okay, man thanks...
Yes I only play games and surf the web...
But this Turbocach, It says 1.7GB grapichcard, but I don't know how to use this thing becouse it also says 3GB of my ram will go to grapich card (If I have understad It right)
... This is why I ask 8GB ram... -
Here is Wikipedias take on turbocache:
NVIDIA's TurboCache technology is a method of allowing video cards more available framebuffer memory by using both on-board video memory and main system memory. Main memory is accessed using the high-bandwidth PCI-Express bus.
TurboCache was developed as a means to provide a better cost/performance ratio by reducing the amount of memory modules on the video card. According to NVIDIA, a GeForce 6200 with TurboCache will perform about four times better than the Intel GMA 900. As with integrated graphics, the operating system may report a lower amount of main memory than is physically present when main memory is used.
When TurboCache was introduced on the GeForce 6200 with TurboCache, there was confusion over how much local memory a buyer could expect from the TurboCache enabled video card. This figure could lie between 16-128MiB, with NVIDIA listing only total memory from both video memory and main memory. Eventually, NVIDIA included only video memory sizes on marketing and packaging.
While TC can improve 3D quality in games using a great deal of video memory for texture rendering, performance of games utilizing a large percent of system RAM (such as EA Games' Battlefield series and their mods that typically consume 512MB-1GB RAM) can suffer dramatically on systems with 1GB RAM or below. Google searches show many users of cards with TC desperately trying to disable TC. Such an option is not supported by NVIDIA's official drivers but can be accomplished using a registry modification for Windows users.
A video card with TurboCache typically is slower in 3D benchmarks than a similar video card which has its own discrete video memory.
I really dont think you will ever use more than 4GB Ram at the moment for just gaming. Maybe in a year or 2 when newer games demand it. -
Okay, forgot the wikipedia
I only use it to homework
But, thanks... -
I am a quite educated user and Toshiba laptop technician and can give you the true answer to your questions
8GB RAM will have no change in performance.
The 1GB of the dedicated video memory installed on the laptop is more than enough to handle graphics at any resolution.
Turbocache is used only when the dedicated memory is full and RAM is used instead to fulfill the needs of the GPU. Although not accurate, you can say it's a bit like how the virtual memory is used on the hard disk when the RAM is full.
With the 9800m GTX, it's terrific graphic processing power and more than enough dedicated memory, the Turbocache is just a gimmick.
Believe me you **NEED** none of the two...
Toshiba tested the X300 with Quad Core CPU's with terryfying results considering reliability. Temperatures were very high. The X305 has one model with a Quad Core, and I heard a lot of horror stories. They intendently didn't move on with Quad Core's in the X300 because it would cause the company a HUGE headache considering servicing. Why release a laptop with a Quad Core that will have such a high problem rate? It might also have to do with the fact that the X300's heatsink was designed for a dual-core CPU.
Also, the T9600 is a very good and reliable processor on it's own and can't understand why you said you "need" a Quad Core core (as of the unessesary extra RAM, I won't repeat myself). It sounds more of a mild fixation to me than an actual need :S
Trust me, I researched quite a lot on the TurboCache thingy (when I was going to buy my X200 with a 256MB 8700m GT which might have given it a small boost due to the limited dedicated memory) and the Quad Core debate.
In the very near future mobile Quad processors are hopefully going to be a lot more relyable and easier to implement on more laptops. But until

You made an amazing choice with the Qosmio! Solid machine right there at your disposal! If you find it is not performing as you like, give Toshiba a call right away! Ask to speak to a manager! Let them know you have there an amazing piece of hardware but with some problems and they will help you out! Good luck!

Nikko, This therad is little bit old now.
But anyway, I play "heavy" CPU -games like GTA 4. This eats my T9600. This is why I wanted Quad-Core. Also, I dosn't care much about my tempratures, I changed my HDD with SSD and I have lower GPU temp. now but thats it. I'm not even loading my overclocked profile when I play games any more....
Very high probability to sale or trash this laptop
Also, I don't know which country do you live in but, Norway has 0 (zero) support. They can't even talk norwegian. It is swedish or something
@nacholambre : I don't think this was a amazing choice.
