    Hi all,

I've got the M50-MX5 (PM [email protected], 512 MB, 100 GB), and it doesn't seem to report CPU temps on all the programs I've used - from CHC to speedfan and the like.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this, and could help me out? I'd really like to know what kind of a boost I'm getting in terms of undervolting and the like.

    Cheers,
    Doug

    Anyone?

I'm getting fed up with not being able to see what temp I'm running at :(

Have you tried Mobile Meter? I've found it works on my Satellite and our Qosmio.

Yeah, it just monitors the HDD temp.

My BIOS claims to support ACPI 1.0, and it's the highest update available (Phoenix v1.9).

    Hmm....

This doesn't usually occur - what are the specs of your notebook? In addition, you might try the Toshiba updates and see if that brings you any new drivers.

I've updated everything possible from the Toshiba website - I wish I could access the recovery cd for manual installation of patches and the like, but it seems as though they have a proprietory IPQ archive format or something.

I reformatted and reinstalled XP Pro, so I'm beginning to think that may be a problem. As it stands, I have all of the drivers and software provided with the computer on a seperate partition - I'm apply Microsoft Patches provided with the computer right now.

If all else fails, I'm going to reformat the computer to factory settings and take it from there. I really hate how it's loaded up with so much crap though.

It's an M50-MX5 (PSM50C-mx500e), Pentium M 750 (1.86) 512 ram initially (1024 now), Intel 915GM/GMS. The BIOS is Phoenix, and is currently at v1.90. I was under the suspicion that the BIOS may be outdated, even though it was posted 2005-12-14.

Before you do a reformat, have you tried playing with the settings in MobileMeter? To do so, right click on the monitor window on the desktop, which will bring up the options menu.

Is that supposed to be something wrong with your comp? I am using NHC and Satellit M50 and I only get the HDD temp...nothing for the cpu.

Well, it's not much of a problem, but it's becoming a nuisance - I mean, the temperature sensor MUST be there, so why shouldn't it show up?

That, and I'm a control freak when it comes to computers - I've gotta know everything about my computer :p.

If none of the other M50 owners have their temperature monitoring active, perhaps we should all call up Toshiba Canada and yell at'em >: O.

I'll try some other stuff before I do reformat though; I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm bumping this topic, my M100 will not display a CPU temp in Everest or NotebookHardwareControl. Through some google searching it seems like a lot of people are unable to view their CPU temp on Toshiba notebooks. Has anyone contacted Toshiba about this? The programs only detect the HDD temp.
