Just out of curiosity, does any of your guy's Toshiba actually restart? When I tell it to 'restart' it ends up shutting down...

Tried overclocking the FSB last night... uh... back to the drawing board... I'm too much of a noob at software overclocking atm. I have some learning to do.

    http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=25716

is a how-to... if anyone is interested. I don't know if it's even possible with the new Santa Rosa mobo's yet.

Thats interesting, I'll let you guys know how my screen looks when I receive mine. I have a Spyder Pro as well and will see if there is a difference between the different color profiles.

Cause I can... The heat is more than managable on this computer, and I feel like this laptop can handle even more. I'm not really going to pursue the FSB overclocking too far, as it seems more dangerous and less supported than GPU overclocking... We'll see :D

Blue tint to displays on computer LCD's is pretty standard. Someone somewhere must think the blue tint looks better. That's why they invented the screen calibraters. If you like true colors, then calibrate the screen. To be honest, until I started doing photo work, I didn't even notice and I would think that most people wouldn't.

Very true, until I started getting deep into Graphic Design I really didn't notice the difference, I had the same issue on an HP NB, I would send something to the printers and when I got it back it was a different color then what was on my screen! Thanks to the Spyder Pro thats not a problem now. I should be getting my NB sometime today, Once I get it and clean off the bloatware and calibrate the screen I'll let you all know how it turned out and if it really had a blue tint or not.

Yeah but my problem is that the screen is calibrated and using the correct profile on the DESKTOP, but when I play a game, it reverts back to the desaturated blue tinted default profile. THAT is my problem.

I got my NB Yesterday! The screen looks great, no blue tint! I haven't found anywhere to update the video drivers (for better performance) I did however update the Bios and uninstalled all the crap software that was on it! I even took off the stupid finger print reader software (That software REALLY slowed it down) I can't believe the difference after taking off all the bloatware! It starts up pretty fast now!

Anyone having problems with Vista and their network? My NB works perfect at home but as soon as I take it to work and try using it on my Company network it starts acting Crappy, it only goes to certain websites while others don't even START to open! I think we figured out that its the 6 year old firewall that they are using! LOL Anyway I'm going to do some 3Dmark tests on it tonight to see if I can get close to Chaz's results.

Made some overclocking, this is the result:

    Core: 677 Memory: 850

Temperature was perfect. Didn't go higher than 68°C. There's still much room left for overclocking.

ColdSoul, which drivers are you using and what utility to overclock?

I got my x205 to 800core 1000memory with the shipped driver, but didn't get heat readings...

Too bad the 160+ series drivers just plain rock the shipped ones even overclocked in DX10 demos.

I used the default drivers which were already installed on Vista Home Premium.

I overclocked even further, here is the result:

    Core: 702 Memory: 900

    Max temperature: still 68°C

    Overclocking tool: RivaTuner v2.02

Work's been killing me the past few days... I have my review yet to post, but before I do I will get some real 3dMark06 scores up. My only problem is that the 160 series drivers don't overclock, and the stock drivers are really sucky at things like Source games. Regardless, fun report, all the goodies on at 16x AA 16xAF @ 1440x900, 65 FPS on CS:Source stress test, with no flaws. It was pretty to see. Turn the AA and AF off, I was getting about 160+. This is stock clocks too.

WOOT to that! I can't wait till LAN party times :)

BTW. What are your stock clocks for the X205's 8700M GT? I think I have 625, 700. Obviously the mem can easily do 800 with no thermal issues. Just curious.

    Still great overclocks!

Someone on the other forum actually made it to 800 Core/ 2000 Memory. 800/2000 its kind of too extreme...... I would rather stick to the safety side.... :)

    It works, but crashes 3dmark06

Fan actually kicks up... confused me for awhile as I tried to figure out where that really quiet sound was coming from.

    at 1280x1024 for comparison!
    (used an external monitor)

That's at 775/938 as I think noted a tiny graphical flaw on the external monitor after the third run at the higher setting and it frankly isn't worth it if there are going to be flaws.

Still did not exceed 68C after hours of heavy benchmarking.

You can download FRAPS for free from CNET.com. To also test your GPU, you can download the program Chaz used called Cinebench. I used that to see which NB was more powerful between the XPS and the X205. Both are free.

    Get CINEBENCH here www.maxon.net

I can still go higher but there are artifacts in 3DMark06 if i do so, so i think 770/930 is a quite stable constellation.
This notebook is truly a beast...

    Hi,

Wow. how did you do it?

But seems this 8700M GT is not too much capable from 8600M GT !!??

Someone with just 256MB version of 8600M GT oc'ed already gotten to this 5100+ default 3dmarks06 already:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=172564&highlight=8600m+gt+3dmark

Can't imagine double this performance of the dual-8600M GT in the new x205!!
...ahhh I bought into 8700m gt original x205 3 weeks too early :(
