Hello, I have the S9349 version and am having issues upgrading to 64bit Vista. I installed two new hard drives and bought an OEM clean install disk for 64. I can get the OS installed but it doesn't see that I have the 8700M video card nor does it see my finger print scanner and I'm sure it's missing other stuff.

Can someone tell me what the fix for this is??

Guys, I have the S9349 and also SLi1 laptops and found the drivers you need. You can download the Vista64 drivers for the finger print reader here:
http://www.upek.com/support/downloads/psql_winqual/psql_upgrade.asp (thanks to forum user: nekrosoft13), and the video drivers at www.laptopvideo2go.com.

    Good Luck!!! :p ;) :D

Thanks Jesse, I went back in and tried to wipe and reinstall everything again and now I'm back to the Install Disc not seeing the hard drives. I can't get 64 back on the computer no matter what I try now. I'm probably just going to ship it back to the States and let someone else deal with this headache.

I looked at my S9349 but I do not see that and I believe it is because I installed XP on it so my kids could play some games that will not run in Vista. I am wondering if you found and installed the bluetooth x64 drivers which I did find on Toshiba's web site, that is the omly thing I can think of that might be what is missing on your system, and there is one item that I never found Vista x64 drivers for and that is the Intel robson turbo cache controller, anyway good luck.

I installed the Bluetooth Monitor from Toshiba's European website and that seems to be working fine.

Hmmm. Wonder what that is

Man, Sorry to hear you are having more problems, but I never had this problem before on my Toshiba's and can't think what could have caused it to not see your hard drives.

I think I found what it is. It might be the Embedded IR Driver. Why do I need this for? I don't think my X205-S9359 has the Infrared on it

Or it can be the Supervisor Password Utility? Any ideas anyone?

Hey Jesse...........it's working now. Had to ghost an image of a Dell with Windows XP, use a Windows XPE disc to ghost the image from the Dell to the hard drive, then install the x64 OS onto the drive while it was in the dell, before restarting, remove the drive from the Dell, install it in the S9349, restart and load all of the drivers.

Still have one issue I hope someone here can help with though. Getting error code 28 on an "unknown device" that says it's on the Embedded ACPI Controller.

Edit: Turns out it was the Blue Tooth Monitor..............that's fixed and now everything seems to be fine. (except the keyboard issue anyway)

Guys, I've asked before but I got no help.
I have two problems showing up in the Device Manager...
    1- ACPI/CPL0001
    2- PCI/VEN_104C&DEV_803B&SUBSYS_FF031179&REV_00

Does anyone know what they are and give me a link to download what I'm missing?

I have 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate on my X205-S5359.

    Thanks so much.

Have you installed SP1 on it yet? There are issues with the older Realtek drivers not being compatible with SP1 for Vista. Googled what you listed and it seems people have been having Realtek driver issues and DX 10 issues related to those two problems. Toshiba USA is real spotty on 64bit Vista drivers, check Toshiba Europe, that's where I got most of mine from. I'd look at your Realtek drivers and your TI drivers since those two items came up in my google search.

Hi I bought the x205-SLi2 about a week ago for $1500aus. I love it, the only 2 problems I have with it is that there is not enough ram 2 gig is not enough as some is shared with vid cards and the harddrives are too slow. I have put more ram in and is working well. One question is that if I have vista x86 with 4 gig of ram as the x86 version wont read the whole 4 gigs will the video cards use the shared ram from the unused 1 gig or from the used 3 gig.

    thx

I've heard yes and no............my guess is no since the software determines what memory is used where and 32 bit is limited in what it can address. I had 32 bit with my 4Gb and saw a slight improvement in my graphics performance when I went to 64 bit Vista, can't guarantee that was due to memory or for other reasons though.

Give it a shot, it can't hurt. I used a few X200 drivers off of that site for my 64bit install with no issues. The hardware doesn't generally care what it's in, as long as the software that runs it matches it you'll be fine.

The driver I linked to you is running the TI reader on the laptop in my sig and I'm typing this on it now so I'd say it should work fine for your X205 as well.

    One more thing :)

Do you have any unknown devices in your device manager?
As I mentioned before I have that CPL0001 and I found out that it is related to the Embeded IR driver. Do we have IR in our X205's? Do you have that driver installed on your computer?

Nope, the only "unknown" that I had was my Blue Tooth and when I installed the software for that it went away. I don't think the X205 has an IR driver but I could be wrong.

I'm using a Targus backpack. Rather large, but I can stuff a lot of things in there. Pretty comfortable and lots of pockets too. I've been thinking of trying the Pakuma Akara K1 as well. Good reviews on that and its price has dropped in half from a year ago.

i use a Waterfield Designs sleeve in one of their bags, works well, and is custom sized to fit the laptop. Good protection, been using 2 of them , one for each laptop for almost a year and very happy with how they've held up... only downside is the price, which isn't the cheapest. check the site out though, highly recommend them for protection, fit, and durability.

So I sent my X205 back to Toshiba to get repaired since the S-video for some reason won't display on my TV when I have it all hooked up. They sent it back saying that S-video was an integrated part of the motherboard and was replaced and passed all tests. Okay, then why won't it work?! When I first bought this thing I could display my desktop to my TV no problem till one day it just decided to stop working.. I have formatted and re-installed everything to factory settings over 6 times and it still won't work, I have tried different s-video cables, I have tried this on over 4 different TV's. If this is not a hardware issue what else could it be? EVERYTHING is up to date. To be more specific when i plug the S-video cable into the laptop it makes a sound and the resolution goes down but nothing shows up on the TV. Is there something i'm missing? What coudl be the problem?

I think people have had problems with the mid 160.xx-177.xx series drivers and S-Video outputs on their notebooks. I haven't tested the S-vidoe output on my notebook.

Searched for this issue on the thread but got no pertinent results . . .

I have model #X205-9349, which has a Super-Multi, HD-DVD optical disk drive. Here's my issue:

Despite applying Toshiba's latest ODD firmware update (which is from August '07, mind you!), I cannot get the burner to burn dual-layer disks. I ended up trying both Memorex and GQ disks, but to no avail. (I do not have any problem burning regular, "single layer" disks)
I have, however, been able to successfully burn the same exact ISO image (that I attempted with the laptop's burner), using the same exact burn utility ("TOSHIBA Disk Creator"), on an external LG DL burner that was hooked up to this laptop. So I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the laptop's burner (not the software, etc.).

Has anyone experienced this problem...and if so, how did you get it resolved, if you did? Could I have a defective burner, despite the fact it burns regular DVDs?

    Much thanks in advance!

    kferro,

although you tried the lg burner, i would still try other software just to see if it works with the native burner.

other than that i can offer no other help.

I tried looking for a solution to this but couldn't find it anywhere. I recently wiped and restored my x205 and I can't get my 4.1 speakers to work. The only thing I see is 2 speakers. I tried uninstalling the drivers, reinstalling the few different drivers from toshiba's website and nothing gets more than 2 speakers to show up in the windows configuration. It sounds like garbage now and it's really bugging me. Any ideas why windows is only recognizing 2 speakers?

Ouch! Have you tried reloading the audio drivers and the HD software? I had problems with mine after a reload and it took the audio drivers to get it working again. Did you do anything to it in the last few days that may have affected it? I hope you get that fixed, that's a pricey drive to replace. You also may want to look at ebay as well.

I recently upgraded my X205-s9349 to windows 7. ever since i've noticed of the 4speakers+subwoofer, only the 2 big speakers are working.

Apparently other people have been having the same problem and one guy found a solution:
    http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/...6;jsessionid=D59221CD164F06A0E4F5057956F75807
    see post #3

if anyone still has vista installed can the please rar/zip their c:\program files\Realtek folder and upload it please. Thanks

Also i dont remember for sure what the speaker config used to be under vista.. right now under 7, it only lets me select Stereo.
was it 2.1 or 4.1 in vista? could someone please upload a screen shot

    Thanks

it was the TI card reader and problem was fixed after installing Win7 drivers from Toshiba site

I bought my x205 about two years ago. I have since helped my mother-in-law and my wife pick out a new computer and they were both slower machines. I have also looked at what is new out there and there really isn't anything much better than what I have unless I want to spend another 2 grand.

Thanks, but I'll stick with what I got for now.

My machine (x205 sli3) just returned from 7 weeks in for repair (extended warranty, thank god). Replaced both drives, both GPU's, motherboard and CPU. It has had on/off blue screens since new. Since I still have another year of warranty, I plan on getting rid of it and replacing it with something dependable (even if it is slightly slower)

btw, this is the 2nd time I've had to send it in.

having problems with windows 7 install on my s9349 -- the screen flickers with no matter what driver im using (tried from toshiba and nvidia)..

so i gave up and i opened the system recovery disc for the first time out of the plastic and it gets to the 2nd disc when it starts saying that it can't read certain files.. and then it errors on me.

now i have nothing.. can't even go back to vista.

how can the system recovery disc fail like this when i never used it before? anyone help me with this windows 7 home edition 32bit flickering?

please im so frustrated :( thank you.

Sorry to hear about the Windows 7 problems. I have a 64-bit copy waiting for me to install it on mine, but you guys are kind of scaring me. I hope I don't have too many issues. I'll post whether all goes well or not.

The screen flickers whenever powermizer changes clocks, this happens on 185.xx and above with me..
you can either disable powermizer, or use an older driver, i suggest 182.46-Dox optimized
