Hey, that's a great program, which I just reigistered for due to a problem with the Firewire-Switch. Well, the Firewire-Switch does not work for me in the TT-Version of the file, but somehow it works in the TZ-Version. Can you maybe post a version of the file, which includes all the buttons of the TT-Version (except for Firewire) and the Firewire-Button of the TZ-Version? I would really appreciate that..!
Thanks in advance. :=)

The difference is with DevconTZ, I chose to disable the OHCI controller all together and with DevconTT I chose to disable the adapter only. Just run devonTZ enable Firewire go to control panel enable the 1394 adapter which should still be disabled. Devcon TT should then work fine. Do not run devcon TZ again
I've made an extended version of DevconTT here, it adds CardBus and Audio disabling as well: http://philch.free.fr/files/DevconTT.exe
-
How much of an improvement in battery life is there when using Devcon to switch off devices?
-
I don't think it makes much difference if any actually... but boot time is realy reduced due to all those drivers not loading at start up
-
-
Just to make sure you did it right, don't use DevconTZ, go in control panel/system/hardware/device manager, under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers, enable OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller then under Network adapters enable 1394 Net Adapter close control panel and run DevconTT, it should work

any new updates on TT lately? .-.V
so far, known refresh update ive discover are VAIO FW, SR, and Z. -
-
That would be nice. Would Sony increase the battery size to compensate or will they be using more power saving cpu's? It would be nice if I can just drop in a 1.6GHz cpu into mine.
-
Nope, same battery size according to the specifications.
I don't think you would see a major difference in performance from 1.4 to 1.6. -
-
-
OK, I modified DevconTT here http://philch.free.fr/files/DevconTT.exe to take it into account. I've just realized though that Win7 (and certainly Vista I guess) Sony Power management already takes care of many more hardware that the XP version does which will overide any changes you make in Devcon when Vista loads.

Now all is working OK, even Back button -

Is this the Hardware-ID? -

Reading customer reviews for the TT on a nationwide retail store web site the main complain about it were:
*Overheating/slow start/multicolor vertical lines on screen/won't shut down properly.
The model # TT 260 WIN BIZ SU9400
Any comments on this issue. -
none whatsoever but I'm on XP with RAID 256GB SSD which might help in fast start (under 20sec) and low consumption. I also have never experienced any screen artifacts, in fact never experienced such a great screen
-
I just bought the tt290 customizable one wit 128 gb ssd, 4g ram, and 1.6 ghz so far its looking really good the touch pad does hav some issues but i mainly use a mouse so its fine and my wireless disconnects a lot but it might just be my box its kinda old and i was wondering i like the sp2 on vista but should i install the windows 7 rc on this im afraid there may be issues
-
-
I guess i might do that should i do 32-bit or 64-bit since it only has 4 gb rams 32-bit should be better right? And i was also wondering it says 128gb but why does my c drive only hav 107gb?
-
You can try 64bit Win7 if you want to address the whole 4GB, 32bit will only address 3GB but that's OK and I'm sure you'll face less incompatibility issues on 32bit. You could still triple boot Vista, Win7 32 and Win7 64 if you like. 107GB is normal, first you have the recovery partition which will consume some GB (about 12GB I think) plus windows reports capacity as bytes (base 2) which means power of 1024 while disk manufacturer simply use base 10 and marketing size is calculated as power of 1000. 128x10exp9/1024/1024/1024 = 119GB (real capacity) less the recovery size should be very close to the 107GB reported in Windows.
-
-
Which would you recommend though 32-bit or 64-bit i guess i dont really no the difference lol i tried researching it but all i no is the gb things. So far im really enjoying the laptop though the boot time is fast sp2 is showing no problems

Hi
Just got a TT 230
Pretty dang nice, only thing I would add is a backlit keyboard.
I've been perusing the thread... but haven't hit all 119 pages yet.
Are there any general pointers/upgrades/fixes that I should do right away?
Also, 1 question:
I use XP on my desktop and Vista on the TT.
Will there be a conflict in syncing my WinMobile phone to both?
I know that XP uses ActiveSync, and Vista uses WMDM, but I have not done the WMDM on Vista yet as I'm worried that I won't be able to Sync on the XP if I do.
Thanks -
Oh... 1 more
Can you use ATT with the Gobi, or do you have to use Verizon?
Thanks again -

hi guys im new to the forum and have just bought the vaio tt11wmb, it will be delivered on friday
just wondering...my vaio is black but i wanted the crimson red screen casing but the cost of it was too much as i could only get it as a customisable option (im in the UK) and i got a great deal on a black one.
does anyone know how to go about getting one? or better yet does anyone have a part number? i would be forever grateful! im sure theyre available from sony somehow!??
also, if i want to upgrade the processor which processor would i need?
many thanks in advance!

They recently had a 'runout' sale over here with the Red and Gold models.
Maybe they didnt sell as well as they thought, hence only offering the black ones now (personally I love the red now, I have seen a couple of black ones with friends and thought they were too bland- but each to their own..lol)
-
yeah the crimson red is only available when you use the vaio websites customising option to configure a new tt.
the red is available for £1500 for the base level model withou fingerprint reader, only 2gb ram and no wwan...
whereas i picked up the tt11wmb with 4gb ram, wwan fingerprint reader etc for 1200.
so it was 300 more for the red with a lower spec
do you have a part number for the red screen please mate? -
Hughesy88 it looks like your going to need these parts X23186852 and X23186832. If you know someone in the US you could order it and send it to them. It is not cheap though as it costs about $300 for both of those parts.
VGN-TT165N/R

Also, the processor is soldered and it is not easy at all to upgrade it. -
We only had two models initially released here in Australia the VGN-TT15GN and the VGN-TT17GN (which has the 1.4GHz CPU, SSD, Blu Ray and HDMI - in otherwords the works) Trouble was you would pay nearly $1000 more for the difference.
If you mean the red bezel and lid itself, no I don't sorry.
-
geekygirl in the top right hand corner on that page you can still input part numbers and model numbers. I posted the model number for a US red TT in my other post. You can use that model number to work out the parts that you need.
-
geekygirl's VAIO TT looks somehow red pinkish.
-
thanks rachel thats a great help...are you 100% sure that that product number is for the red casing?
thank you!!
-
No its quite red actually! -
also any uk sellers of the red casing?? please please please help!!

I currently have a Thinkpad T60p and one of the best things is that it's a true desktop replacement -- not only in power, but I can also drive 2 LCDs out of the docking station. That is, I can use both the VGA and DVI at the same time.
I'm wondering whether or not the Sony Vaio TT is capable of this as well. The laptop is so new, there is no info I canfind out about this.
Typically it's a problem with the video cards used in laptop which prevents this (they usually use integrated graphics card). My thinkpad doesn't use an itnegrated card, it uses an ATI mobility FireGL v5250 card. However, I thought the TT might be able to do this since it's able to play 1080p videos which indicates it has some serious video horsepower.
Anyone know for sure? -
For sure you can't (or at least I wasn't able to). You can drive the internal screen plus an external 1920x1200 at the same time in extended desktop mode, but you can't drive two external screens at the same time.
-
Is this even with the TT's lid closed? Typically laptops that support multi-mon out of 2 ports on a docking station needs to have lid closed, otherwise it's driving 3 screens (VGA, DVI and internal). -
) to my 18.5" 1360x768 LG monitor, and have used a dual view setup when I was running Vista, with Ubuntu I can duplicate the screens, but not independant of one another.
I have seen a setup with an Asus EeePC 1000H driving TWO external monitors and its own screen...and that has a weaker graphics solution than the TT. They are using the VGA port and a USB to VGA connector. Like this one http://www.evga.com/uvplus/ -
geekygirl, there's a DVI port on the docking station.
