What I did was a clean install of Win7, and then I downloaded all the apps from the eSupport site at Sony for the TT for Vista.
That includes the Vaio Control Center. But I have to disable the battery checker process (called ISB something) as Win7 reports the battery to be wrong for the computer if I do not.
Anyway, the light sensor and quick charging still does not work for me. But things like the noise cancelling headphones, volume buttons on the front (except the eject button) works fine.
Where did you find the drivers/software you installed to make this work?

Help again !!!
The topic name has changed again. I think there is a virus on the forum. -
There is something strange going on with this thread because i have seen this happen three times now. I will report it. I have checked it in another browser and it still seems to be happening. I have changed the name of the thread now.
-
It has happened again.
(third time today) The thread title is wrong again. I hope they will find a fix soon, else this thread will die....

Aside for the initial plastic pieces you have to remove to get to the screws, are there any especially tricky parts to doing a drive swap -- or is it just that there's lots & lots of itty bitty screws? -
About Windows 7.
Does anyone have links to the programs and drivers needed to get all the good stuff working (light sensor, front buttons, quick charging etc)?
I have downloaded everything from esupport but have yet to see it all working.
Also - and the primary reason for this post - has anyone found working drivers for Win7 64bit for the TT? Obviously not from Sony but perhaps somewhere else?
/Soren -
The whole process doesn't seem all that bad, actually -- seems like the only semi-tricky part might be getting the keyboard off once the screws are all undone. It looks like it snaps into place with the rest of the body? I always get nervous about unsnapping something like that, for fear that I'll break it... -
That R model that was on the FCC, which had really similar dimensions to the TT, well it turns out it was the TT, the TT200 series

OK, I bit the bullet & bought a TT today! Extremely impressed so far, faster & more responsive than I was expecting -- even with all the crapware installed. The smaller screen looks like it may take some getting used to... though the "magnify" key works well, when needed.
Incidentally, can anyone confirm that the Canadian model doesn't come with the noise cancelling headphones? -
Thank you.
PS: Congratulation for your pourchase. -
-
I have just try it in IE and it works. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with my browser (Firefox 3) and my Word processor (Open office Writer).
Is the a way the get it working with all software ? Thanks. -
I opened a dedicated thread for Windows 7 on Vaio TT ...

how disable the battery checker process on win7
-
/Soren
PS: Do you have the light sensor and quick charge working? -
the light sensor yes (when I open the vaio it automatically start ...)
the quick charge I don't know how to test in fact ... I usually put the vaio on the docking during all the night ... -
Hello,
What is your CPU temperature when playing MP3 ?
My Vaio is powered with a SU9300. CPU Temperature is 47°C (116°F). CPU usage is 7 to 10%. My MP3 are 320 Bkit/s. I use Windows media player (Vista 32-bits).
Is temperature not "too high" for a such low CPU usage?
Thank you
PS : I use CPUID Hardware monitor to read CPU temperature. -
Is it core temperature or the sensor temperature place at the cpu? I use Coretemp and it is around 62c when surfing. At 100% full load, it jumps to about 75c.
-
Give it a try : Hardware Monitor is free and is a portable software (no installation). -
ok. I used HWMonitor, and the maximum temp agrees with the Coretemp, around 51c, and the avg vale is 47c like yours. Wonder why it does not show any voltages or fan speed.
Anyway, I like Coretemp better since I can turn it off to show only the temp in the tray. But it shows that I am running at 1600MHz which does not make sense. -
After installing Win7, what did you install of Sony utilities / drivers? And where did you get them?

I'm loving my new TT so far. Here's a question, though -- the fit & finish are impeccable (as befits a notebook that can sell for $3-4k in some configurations), EXCEPT for one small issue.
If I push on the horizontal strip of glossy plastic on the front of the machine (the strip that has PROMagicGate, WIRELESS, etc written on it) right below the right mouse button, it makes an annoying squeaky noise. Does anyone else's TT do this?
(it's not a big deal, but it's the only issue that keeps me from saying that the build quality is 100% perfect) -
Sorry for my late response to you guys asking about Windows 7 install procedure. I wrote a fairly complete article on doing a clean install on the VAIO TT:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4438927#post4438927
You can also read it here:
http://dimension6.googlepages.com/sonyvaiottwindowsvistawindows7betacleani
I also took a bunch of photos to explain how to dissect the TT, but that's a writeup for a different day. I'll put it on my website. -
my only missing feature today on Wint7 is the WWWan ... the tool don't see the SIM card ..
-
My TT's screen is catastrophically dimmer than that of the TZ it replaces. What gives? Is it really designed that way,or is there some setting I'm not aware of?
-
-
Thanks, Dimension6! That did the trick. When automatic brightness control is active, my screen won't seem to go beyond about 50% brightness, although it says there that you can adjust it manually if it's too dim. You can't; at least not on my machine. -
-
works for me too. 70% on AC, and 60% on battery.

Hi All,
I have TZ11MN. Using on it Adobe Web Premium CS3. Photoshop CS3 working aceptable fast with my 10 MPixel RAW files. Dreamweaver CS3 and Flash CS3 also warking OK on my TZ. I am going to buy new TT (maby with 128GB SSD). Does anybody can share expireience of using new Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver CS4 on Vaio TT? Should I upgrade from TZ to Z instead to TT? -
TT is faster than TZ, due to faster 5400rpm HDD and sata connection. So, if you are happy with Photoshop performance on TZ, you should be happy with it on TT.
Z has much faster cpu's, and is a much better all around machine, but you will have to sacrifice size for speed.
Edit: forgot to say that DDR3 has higher front side bus, thus writing/reading to ram is faster than TZ. This surely helps with photoshop. -
Hi, could any one give a test for HD playback. I have searched everywhere and couldnt find any. I have heard the su9300 is not capable for 1080p. why sony claim the first bule-ray?
-
TT is 1080p capable
About bench : there are a lot of screenshots available here: TT13 review by Sina (Japan)

And with 128GB SSD
-
I know it will be safer to buy Vaio Z but I love my TZ and if Adobe CS4 will work OK on Vaio TT (maby with 128 GB SSD) I would prefer replace TZ on TT not Z. -
The website says, "
Intel claims that GS45 support high-definition playback, Is that true? TT13 testing the use of high-definition video playback, but we could not switch on the hardware decoding function, indicating that GS45 chipset does not support the hardware solution, but also unable to smooth 1080P high-definition video playback."
and there is another website

This is my first post! lol... i prefer to read rather than contribute hence have been doing this for 2 years now, but i just have this urge to say " I'm gonna be the proud owner of a TT." TT or Z, TT or Z, it's been though... but considering i have an FZ that works ok but is breaking my back, TT it is. Its a sexy little professional looking baby bee. Will get busy in the bee hive but won't take the whole hive with it. Only if i can get amazon to ship it quick... by the way i've seen a thread regarding windows 7 on the TT. Seems like only a few contributions have been made. Does anyone have a fully functional TT running on windows 7? All drivers available and working?
Thanks! -
In other news, I finally tracked down a 1.8" 64GB Samsung SLC SSD (I only go SLC if possible; MLC is far too risky still, and I'd rather have a smaller SLC drive than a larger MLC one). It was pulled from a new Thinkpad X300 series. Finding 1.8" SSDs is not difficult; finding 1.8" SSDs with a Micro SATA connector like the TT has is nearly impossible. The only drive that appears to be for sale to end users is the Intel 1.8" 80GB MLC drive, and even that is completely unavailable here in Japan (the 2.5" MLC and SLC drives are for sale at nearly every major shop in Akihabara). -
Thanks for the quick response! I'll make sure to do that before i get rid of the FZ lol! Now, to exercise patience.... two days seem too long! hope there is no hitch in delivery... que sera sera!

Can anyone confirm if their TT makes an annoying squeaking noise if you push forward on the front of it, right underneath where the right trackpad button is? Am just curious if it's only mine or if this is common... thanks!
(I know, I know, I'm being nitpicky...)
-
I do not experience a squeaking - it seems pretty tight to me.
-
-
-
ok thanks for the replies! Was just curious, as I'm still in the return/exchange period... though it's not really such a big deal, so maybe I'll just live with it. Maybe the screw that's directly underneath just needs to be tightened or something.
