sillisquid and |SONY|, I think you have the same CPU & RAM, so why are you getting different results?
BTW, I would be using the TT, if I end up buying one when they update it this month (hopefully), as a secondary machine to my 3.06 iMac, so I just would like to know what limitations have you had with this machine so far?
I am waiting for the refresh mainly to get the 1.6 and hopefully a better GPU, unless the current models drop in price very fast, then I might by one of the current models, just because I do not really need the power on this secondary portable machine.
Thanks a lot to all of you guys for the input and I am really sorry that I do not have another example outside Hulu![]()

different results maybe because he is using the default bloated install and I am using XP. I can't stand Vista and don't want to use a BETA Win7 for my main machine! I also use firefox. This video is a joke since my cpu utilization is 21%. The jump from 1.4 to 1.6 is 1x+ multiplier. You won't see any difference.
i also suspect that maybe his bandwidth or if he is using wireless, the buffer runs out and he sees the stuttering.
the 4500HD has a built-in MPEG accelerator.

With Vista, I can play blu-ray discs via HDMI on my TV @ 1080p. HDMI doesn't work with XP -
Thanks for the explanation

Well, today some features just stopped working. The automatic brightness, which had been working perfectly, completely stopped functioning. In addition, the Volume Up and S function keys stopped working (strangely, the Mute and Volume Down keys work!). I'm leaning toward thinking this is a hardware problem, as I made no software changes and tried reinstalling all Sony support software. Did anyone else ever have this problem?
-
which winblows are you using?
-
-
this is working only with the UAC disable under windows 7 ...
maybe this? -
Dimsension6
I was listening to music last night, and fooling with my media programs, and found out that somehow, the volume control buttons does not work anymore. I rebooted, and everything is ok. The media software I used is MediaPortal, which I think has some issues. So your problem may be related to software interference. -
it is the event service, but you can open it up if and search for ghosts...

Does anyone know the best power settings to put the TT in order to get maximum battery length? I have adjusted the settings (Processor performance on battery set to 20%, etc.) and currently have it set to VAIO maximum battery.
-
Looks like I'll have to get some conductive epoxy (it's not a good idea to solder the connections on ribbon cable) and carefully reconnect the connections. If that doesn't completely solve the problem, I'll have to find that part from Sony. Doh! -
In Win7 on my TT190, the microphone seems to have issues.
While it does record sound, it is almost impossible to hear what I say.
Anyone seen this behaviour in Win7 on the TT and fixed it?

Any one know where i can get a replacement "power button shiny thingy"? Mine miraculously fell out and can't be found. I purchased some parts from sony... bracket hinge mbx...
Also, does anyone know where to get a service manual for this baby? -
ag: I would suggest calling sony parts for that shiny thingy.
As for diagrams: try this: there are 2 parts to it:
http://translate.google.com/transla...//kunkoku.livedoor.biz/archives/51534770.html
|SONY|: why did you remove the link to the diagrams? Were you asked to remove it? -
I just got the docking station for the TT, & realized that the docking cover isn't all that well designed... you have to pry it off & stick it back on each time you use the dock, which is a pain.
The manual says "it is extremely important to replace the docking station cover... if left unattached, dust may get inside and damage the computer." Any opinions as to how critical this really is? Does anyone have any experience leaving their dock connector uncovered for months & months (on the TZ or another model) with no adverse effects? -
Hi,
Does anyone know how to uninstall Office2007 on the TT? My unit, which I just bought recently was pre-installed with Office2007 Trial and however when I wanted to uninstall it, I was asked to insert the Install CD (not provided by Sony).
Any ideas??
Please help with thanks... -
I tried out the Sony Vaio TT in the store today and was a bit surprised to find how flimsy the whole casing is. In the keyboard area, I found it was very easy to push the plastic casing downward. This even happens just by using the keyboard. I also found that the top half holding the display was also easily flexed about, and it seemed very easy to impress the display.
Was this just a demo model issue, or is the TT really as flimsy as it seems? I have a Sony Vaio P, and the build quality feels far more solid, despite that they both seem to be built of carbon fiber. -
control panel....programs n features.....find office 2k7 version.....select.....click uninstall at the top . repeat for any other components for office trial 2k7
-
-
The problem is Vista keeps asking me for the Off2007 Install CD in order to uninstall it (the CD was not provided by Sony when I bought it as it was a trial version).
So basically I need the install CD in order to uninstall it!
Anyway, I've called Sony and they've asked me to bring my unit in to uninstall Off2007! They are unable to help me online...
Thanks for the advise though.. -
I uninstalled mine and installed the enterprise edition for office. I'll advice you to wait a couple of days for a solution before u send it in. It's something basic and u shouldn't have to send ur unit in... it might come back with some scratches lol. I'll look for a solution and get back to u. -
u can find a solution here... and please dnt send the baby TT to those guys. they dnt know how to handle a baby! -
Hay, did you guys notice that |SONY| was banned. He had a post flaming the admin last night and is now removed and banned. -
What is reason why |SONY| was banned?
-
What can be said on this is that |SONY| was banned for continually breaking the forum rules. As |SONY| is not a member and they cannot reply on this it is not really fair to discuss their case in detail.
It can be said though that they were given explanations as to why they received infractions in the past and normally banning a member is not automatic unless it for some like spamming etc. Points build up normally that can result in a ban.
Most members will never receive an infraction and banning members happens very rarely. -
I think he should not be banned for life. It is like a death penalty. He should be let in after 2 weeks as a first offense.
-
-
|SONY| - sorry to see him get banned
anyways - moving right along now.... -
I will surely wait for a solution from you... -
I'm really interested in the Vaio TT series now. I might actually sell off my Dell XPS M1330 and replace it with a TT. For me, it's really appealing that I'll get a notebook with a smaller (and lighter) footprint, and yet actually have a better display resolution.
The TT is so expensive, though. Is Sony known to offer discounts or coupons? Even the entry model starts at well over $2,000... -
My only real complaint is that there are only 2 USB ports on this thing, even the Dell mini 9 has 3! I use a mouse with one or two hard drives a lot, sometimes a keyboard too. USB hubs don't work too well and always end up having to connect and disconnect to get everything recognized.
Right now this is my ONLY machine - which is a huge change for me. Usually have a few I'm messing with. Plugged into the big screen TV in high res people can't beleive everything I'm doing on screen is from the tiny little comnputer in the corner
I would highly recommend at least doing the student discount unless you can find a better deal. It required no proof of being a student (I an one by the way) so anyone can sign up for it. I think it was about 10% off mine. I got a loaded TT with about everything but the bluray since I already have a BR player in the house. -
You can minimize the use of USB by using some BT devices, like mouse, keyboard.
-
I may sound old fahioned but I really hate wireless devices. Besides occasional disconnects the dang batteries always seem to go the the worst possible time. I have used many different brands and never found any I liked. When playing games I have to hold buttons down for lengths of time and they don't seem to like that. The Dell k/b and mouse that I got with a 1730 was about the best and even it disconnected occasionally.
-
u can find a solution here... and please dnt send the baby TT to those guys. they dnt know how to handle a baby! -
Okay... Amazon is selling the TT for $1,700, but the model is VGN-TT130N/B, instead of the VGN-TT190xxx that are on Sony's site.
The only major difference I've found between the TT130 and the TT190 is that the 130 caps with a 120 GB HDD, while the 190 gets the 160 GB HDD. Beyond that, they seem to share the same C2D processor @ 1.2 GHz. So, why is the 130N/B not on Sony's site, when it's just as good and quite a bit cheaper? -
-
Hello,
I install the 7022 build of W7 and I've an issue with resume ... did faced to this issue too? -
-
My wife's MS wireless mouse (not BT) does not have battery problems. It last for months and gives warning for days, and she never had any disconnects.
Not sure what product you have used. Just read your statement again that you are using Dell. Try logitech or MS brand which are more commonly used. -
The VGN-TT190 gets a slight CPU bump to 1.4Ghz SU9400, but otherwise it looks very similar. -

Hello TT owners!
I just bought a Bluray drive, the Mat sh ita UJ-232AS that is used in the TT. I am experiencing playback issues with Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra and was hoping someone with the same drive could recommend a program or codec for me.
Thanks in advance -
havoc531, did you buy the drive and installed it on your TT?
I was told that this should not work since the mother boards are different.
Please elaborate more -
I bought the drive and actually installed it in my Lenovo U330
. It was quite a chore to find.
My computer recognizes it fully, and will play and burn DVDs but will not play Blurays. I know it is a software issue because I can hear the audio, but video is green.
As for the mobo not being able to accommodate the Bluray drive, that is rubbish. Disk drives are plug-and-play devices. If you can physically plug it in, it should work.
Back to my question, what software do Vaio TT bluray owners use for playback? -
According to Sony, the motherboards are different and for your blu-ray drive to work, the motherboard has to have a certain chipset.
I do not have a TT and I am looking forward to buying one so I would appreciate it if anyone can clarify this point since I know that there are some external blu-ray drives that work without any trouble.
As for the software, it is a regular software that is wide spread and I am sorry but I forgot its name but I think it is called "WinDVD"
I am thinking of getting the TT with a SSD and HDD with an external DVD drive from Sony with a Vaio brand
Any opinions about how good this drive is and does the TT have a similar wireless connection to borrow other people's DVD drives like the MacBook Air?
Thanks guys -
Hi there,

-
What is new about them? Where is the SU9600 1.6 GHz processor?
Thanks -
Actually I don't know what is new
LN has dispared. JN is a LN with a 160 GB (LN has 120 GB)
New TT21M provides a 160 GB HDD ("old" TT11M comes with 120 Go) and a WWAN ("old" TT11M doesn't provide WWAN).
I can't see difference between new TT21WN and "old" TT11WN.
No SU9600 is listed -
There are new TTs now in the US where the white finally has arrived. Unfortunately, there is no SU9600 yet which is a mistake if I am not mistaken since the website is still under updating
-
Anyone need a Bluray drive for their TT? These babies are impossible to find.
