I don't know what the new model is, he only said there'll be new ones coming out around New Year.
Well for me, I don't know if I'm going to wait because the deal can be over anytime and my budget is about $900 max.....To be honest, I don't really need a Blue-Ray drive, but just thinking about the big downgrade vs the $$ it kinda hurt...

I guessed it really depends on your need/want and your budget. I'm not an artist, hardcore gamer, or engineer that needs great specs.

Also I forgot to clarify more, he said the blue-ray might not be back until new years and don't even know if it will be back for the models they have right now ( I assume he meant only the new models will get them ).

I just checked the sonystyle website, and the indigo blue is available with the discounts and the 230m but no blu-ray available. That sucks as I dislike the color and the lack of blu ray.

I ordered mine on Nov 29. I have yet to receieve other information except the confirmation email. The estimated shipping time is on Dec 22.

I just called Sony's customer service. Thanks God, she said that my order is still fine. I hope I can get mine soon.

Oh, I think there are massive cancelations to whom ordered Jet Black. Does anybody with another color get cancelation as well?

 

I ordered indigo too with the bluray burner... when i called up the customer service today she said it was fine as of now and to keep an eye on the email...! i really hope it doesnt get cancelled...!!! Sahadewa, lets hope Indigo ones go through...!

Although the Indigo one still shows as available with the GT230M it does not allow u to add it to Cart. On the last page u get the message, this config is no longer available.

 

Notice that they charge you extra $47 something for it too. It really isn't a deal anymore.......

I just customized another CW and add to cart and look: Temporarily out of stock. Estimated ship date: 12/15/2009........sigh what if they cancel it a second time >_<

Oh great, I just called them and they said the CW series is temporary out of stock and hopefully will be back in a few weeks.

The sonystyle uk website has all the options still available... and still has the 3-4week delivery estimate... god i hope it doesnt affect europe in the very near future

I'm glad you were able to get a good deal on a great laptop. This being ur first laptop, I think you will definitely enjoy the choice you made. For the FS guarantee till Jan 3, there are limitations to this. If you check the FS website and read the "fine print", it excludes certain offer types and boxing day specials (dec 24-27). FS return policy is 14 days, so you might want to consider the timing tof your purchase to overlap with the return policy. Just a thought ! Enjoy

I suspect a new 13.3" model to replace the SR. The SR has been out for 1.5 years (Debut July 2008), so a nwe one is due.

 

damn dudley i ordered the same exact specs as you on the 27, if it gets canceled i will call sony and cause a huge ****storm...

 

i had orderd mine on the 29th... so i guess i would recieve the cancellation email on 6th? 1 week after ordering...since i see people who got the email till now...all ordered on 27th...! :-(

Just an update, I ordered mine around 10am EST on the 28th. With an estimated delivery of 22nd of Dec. Did a live chat and was told it would be shipped by the 22nd but I should see it sooner. Hopefully she is right.

Here is an Update from 5 min ago. I spoke on phone with the customer rep and she told me only orders made after 27th with the GT230 are being cancelled so far. The blu-ray is still available and its not the color.

I ordered mine on 30th with the 210 graphics and she said i am fine and my laptop is being taken out of the warehouse in SanDiego and going for built in the next 24-48hrs.

She further added that since the 230 graphics was a free upgrade it was sodl out on thanksgiving afternoon.

 

I ordered Indigo color on 29th...and that one had the 230m by default...! i havent recieved a cancellation so far...hopefully it goes through...!

 

That's so weird, they took off the blueray option on their website and the one I spoke to said blue-ray is out of stock due to high demands.

I ordered mine on the 27th (230M + Blu ray drive) and it still went through. I guess I got lucky.

I ordered Icy White. For some reason they changed my shipping option to 1-2 days instead of the standard 5-7 days. I'm not complaining though !

Nice. The customer service told me once sony charges the card, it usually means they have the parts to start building the laptop.

Mine is also estimated on Dec 22 to be shipped. I dont know what else to buy if Sony cancel my order. I really like this and it fits my budget so well.

 

I'd sell you mine cause I can wait and could use some money off. The CWs are pretty expensive in Germany. Waiting for it to be shipped within the next couple of days. But you ain't gonna have warranty so that won't do you any good. By the way, estimated time of delivery is still 3-4 weeks in Germany, doesn't say anything about parts not being available. There's gotta be one good thing about paying $1.500 for it.

yes, the CW in general no matter where you buy it from comes with a multi touch pad.

 

They charged my card two days after it got shipped. Their site mentions that the card is charged only when the order is shipped. They do not charge when ur order is being built.

 

i dont see blu-ray in jr.com

 

I see it's only for selected colors, jet black doesn't have it.
