He ordered it on like Black Friday or even earlier and from SonyStyle.com
CTO's take time to build, while pre-builts get sent out like instantly.
I ordered mine from JR.com. This Monday order went in, Tomorrow I get it. Which I believe SonyStyle.com would do the same if it was a prebuilt.

Ordered from Sonystyle. Placed my order on the 26th Nov roughly 10PM CST. Production Build Email was received on the 30th Nov. Shipped on 2nd Dec and received on 8th.

For Sir: No, the coupon was not there, when i enquired from my friend who got it, he said that you'll get it in email once you register your product on Sonystyle.

I think it means, you made it but you barely made it so you are waiting for gt230's? unless you got a cancel email.

 

no i havnt got any cancel email and i hope i dont coz its been 13days and if they will cancel it now i am gonna kill them..

 

Here is an update for those who are waiting. I was told mine should still ship by the 22nd of Dec. I ordered at 10:15 am Dec 28th. Here are my specs.

Yeah, you're good then if you haven't received a cancel email. I thought the numbers were colors but who knows lol

 

i guess this year Sony did not anticipate the large volume of order it will receive. One reason for this was that there werent any decent laptops out there in the 13" to 14" segment.

Last year i had placed an order for SR CTO model for my sis. The then ongoing promotion was 200 off. that combined with the corporate pricing made it a great deal. The offer was for 4 days and i had placed my order on the first day itself. But later on I cancelled my order and placed a new one just an hour before the deal ran out since my sis had pointed out another coupon which took off an additional $180 if you add in a photo frame at 180 or more. I added the 8" DPF-080 which was priced at $180, so basically i got a photo frame free. The total cost of my laptop plus the 8" dig photo frame was $860 including taxes and just to add, the laptop was maxed out on Config with ATI graphics HD3470, 4GB RAM and 2.2 GHz processor, 320 GB HDD.

The reason i'm stating all this is because, till date i havent seen a better deal on a Sony laptop than the one i got last year. And even then my order came in just fine even though it was palced just an hour before the deal ran out. This time it didnt even last past the black friday.

Its really sad for all those people who missed out. Maybe next time whenever we are ordering for a new laptop, we can all place the order on the day the deal comes out. Since sony does not charge the credit card till they ship it, we can always cancel out the order and palce a new one if a better deal comes out. Just my 2 cents

 

but then why there is no update.. ? no build email.. ? its been 13 days for gods sake.. and u knw sumthg funny i called sony style on 30th nov and they told me my laptop is gonna ship on 4th dec and its gonna reach my house on 9th dec.. i was soo happy and when i called them on 4th they said its gonna ship on 15th dec..

 

thats not bad at all, getting canceled is the worst, I thought I "ordered" on time and had to wait like 7 days after I ordered to find out to cancel. But open door closed, another opened. There are still so many CW's out there with gt230s just asking to be bought.
and atleast you are for sure getting it this year. very nice.

Also just noticed on the SonyStyle.com website on the CW CTO. Now it says sold out purple, and not even a sight of the gt230.

 

no not sure about that.. after hearing about the cancellations i am a little scared.. and plus if it doesnt reach my home by 19th evening i dont know when i will get it then.. but the config i ordered is the one i was waiting for.. so i hope for the best.. i have send a email also to sony style about my order 3 days back but there is still no reply..

 

You should call them or talk to someone live and get some super fast shipping too for free. It seemed like SonyStyle was slow at emails, they answered my emails way later.

hey guys, I just got an email that it's in production =)

 

Need some info here... I just called the sony style customer care...and i was told the estimated date on my laptop is 22nd DEc...Then she said "Wait...let me go further into the system and see..."...she comes back and tell ... " The laptop has a estimated loading date of 9th December which is today" and an estimated delivery date of 16th December...!!!

Thing is i havent recieved a build mail or any other email after my order confirmation email...! has any one else encountered this loading date???

For those expecting a shipment from FedEx, a word of warning. Make Sure Someone Is There To Sign For It!

My box arrived with a yellow, red and black tag saying, DO NOT REROUTE, DO NOT HOLD FOR PICKUP, NO ADDRESS CORRECTIONS, and that if it can't be delivered to the original address in three attempts, return it to the shipper. NO EXCEPTIONS! Well, I can't really blame them.

After having a few problems getting it to go, I've cleaned out some of the crapware and upgraded my OS to Win 7 Ultimate. You have to use the Windows Upgrade Anytime system, even if you have a retail DVD already, and either enter the key code you get when you purchase on-line or the one on the upgrade package. With a Win 7 to Win 7 upgrade, as far as I can see it never used the DVD after telling me to use the Anytime Upgrade route.

One issue I was a little worried about was the optional engraving. When I entered the two lines, I intentionally added spaces to format it to my liking, but nowhere did it show the extra spaces on the order confirmation sheets. Happily, it came out Perfectly!

I placed the order on November 26th, at about 6 PM. It arrived at my door at 2:44 PM, December 8th.

I beat the Friday rush.

i think the problem is the graphics card that is taking a long time to come..

i had a talk with sony style right now and they have changed my shipping from express to expedited with no extra cost ( still they said they will confirm it ) and they said they will try to deliever it on 18th december.. i need the laptop before 19th dec..

Can anyone confirm the 2.4 Kg weight of this notebook (with battery installed of course)?

 

Why is it when i make a commotion about something it goes un-noticed but when others make a deal of the same thing it gets noticed just kidding, but ummm i posted i think 4-5 posts about this when i found out about this, it should be in the 1st 30posts i think.
Yes, the business models do come with fingerprint reader, and since no one has seen this in real life, im guessing MOST PROBABLY it looks like the mousepad on the SR series, which doesnt bother me one bit since i was gonna get the SR before the CW came out, and using the SR i really love the SR touchpad and in no way do i see myself having to sacrifice anything. It might not be used by most people but its still cool to have, and those that find it useful find alot of useful things for it, plus you dont have to worry people peeping at your credit card detail or your passwords on sites. I mean instead of signing up whole pages on different sites and forum all you do is one swipe and it enters all your details for you, or when your entering your credit card details for shopping or booking a flight one swipe and its all there instead of spending 5 mins to enter the whole thing , plus you can have 2-3 different people assigned with fingerprints, say you and your wife so your kids dont play around too much but good thing is if your fingerprint isnt working then you can enter your password to login, so alot of uses , but only downside i dont like about sony is that the business section doesnt have a CTO section anywhere.

At the moment, everyone is getting mixed answers, sony reps are saying in 2 weeks, on the 25th, on the 29th, starting or jan, or mid jan so im most probably gonna say end of month or after new years, but we will have all have to sit tight and see.
When parts come back in then everything will be able to be customized with each other so we all have to wait at this point

IF you're used to Dell's dont worry the CW never ever gets at hot as Dell's, i would suggest getting this with P8700 or if you need more power then upgrade to the P9500 or similar, as they all have 25w TPD VS the T series which is 35w TDP. and im sure as most users have noted even while playing games or putting the laptop under alot of load it gets warm as normal laptops should but never alot of heat, meaning you can still play games and keep thelaptop on your lap so dont worry, but most users have noted this with the P series so i cant really vouch for T series

umm what i usually do when i run into the size limit problem i upload the pics on imageshack or photobucket and then use the IMG code to post them into your post and they should come up

 

Some one who had received their laptop had mentioned that it weighed 5 pounds on their digital scale. so i think 2.4Kgs is the correct weight with battery...! (1 kg = 2.2 pounds)

Finally found out about my CW delivery...scheduled for the 11th. it's nice to see that UPS give a date. i hate deliveries that could just come anytime

aghh..still no email of any kind of update on my order from the 27th, cto black, gt230m, and blu ray...makes me a sad panda

 

I also have received no emails, ordered on the 27th with these specs; firery red, gt230m, BD playback, P8700, 4gb ram and large capacity battery. Original delivery of 12/15 updated to 12/08 and still listed as 12/08. The battery was out of stock when I ordered, both as an upgrade and as a stand alone accessory. The vgp-bpl13 battery still being out of stock makes me wonder if anyone else here who order on the 27th and haven't received any email also ordered theirs with the extended battery? Is it possible I/we secured a laptop and are just waiting for Sony to install the battery? Maybe this is why no production email?

Those of you with the 4043, did you ever find out what it means? My order has 4042 as the first item listed.

The matching red case we ordered arrived on the 4th, sure hope we get to put something in it soon.

i didn't order with the extended battery but ya i ordered on 27th nov and there is no update till now.. mine is jet black.. i think 4042 is some kind of batch no... i was also thinking what this means.. what time did u order.. ?

in my experience, it generates quite alot of heat but still manages to run quite cool... i can play borderlands on max settings for a few hours and the keyboard and base of the laptop does not even feel warm! the fan is quiet and powerful, much better than the vaio cs16g i had before.

i cant say much about battery life... mine's attached to ac power

 

The T9600 generates the same amount of heat as the T6600 and T4300, all with 35W TDP. The only CPUs that will run cooler are the P series which have a 25W TDP rating.

 

Royal indigo is now sold out on the sonystyle website...! and so is the 230m...!!!

 

Well Fedex attempted delivery yesterday and we weren't home..both home today and I don't think it's coming Still says "At local FedEx facility" on the tracking website, instead of "On FedEx vehicle for delivery." ...i was really hoping it would come today!

Yep, thank goodness I have tomorrow off and will be waiting all day til the baby comes in. and with my luck, UPS ground is going to be after 5 or something instead of early morning.

 

I ordered it off the sonystyle uk website, custom built. ordered on the 16th, arrives on the 11th... sony's shipping estimate of 4-5weeks is nearly spot-on

 

Anyone know how to overclock the g210m?

HI~~I just recieve UPS said that it will deliver on 11/12 , so happy to wait on Friday, and will going to sit at the front door to wait.....@.@

 

Well, i turned off my laptop yesterday night at around 1 PM and switched on now at 6:30. In less than 24 hours the battery has discharged 11% when the laptop was shut down. This battery drain is definitely an issue. Hope Sony comes out with a fix for this soon
