    I wouldn't either :(

It was some guy, I don't know his name, but as soon as he picked up I knew from the sound of his voice that I wouldn't be able to get a deal. He also offered me free shipping.

Him: I'll also give you free shipping.

Me: It says on the site that shipping is already free.

    Silence

Him: ...That's the best I can do.

Can somebody tell me how hot does it get with this configuration :
    - Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2,80 GHz
    - 6GBGB Ram (1066 MHz, DDR3)
    - 320 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA
    - Nvidia GeForce GT 230M, 512MB VRAM
Is this sufficient for mainstream usage ( surfing webs, MS word, media, abit photoshop & illustrator, a bit sony vegas and COD MW 2 )?
By the way i just checked the website today and they removed GT230m o.o

I received my CW a couple of days ago and I think the screen is GREAT, not as good as my LCD TV or my LCD Monitor, but in my opinion everything is very clear (no eye strain issues) and the colors are true and the screen is bright. As far as veiwing angles, well it is not an issue for me, i just move the screen to the best angle and then it's good to go...I don't have a need to look at the screen at a side angle. I guess how I look at it is that the CW has the best set of features available for the price and the screen veiwing angles is not a deal breaker, IMO...I've been reading lots of reviews for several months and checking out laptops in the stores and think the CW is the best, at least for my needs. I even ordered a Dell Studio 14z and an Acer Timeline 1410, but the Dell had two external ports that didn't work and the Timeline screen was too small, so I sent them both back. So I say all that to say that I'm a satisfied CW customer at least so far and am hopeful that I will be happy with this laptop for many years to come.

I will be giving more specific observations/review of my CW soon!

I´m noticing some transparent/translucent lines only on darker backgrounds. I dont know if that´s a normal thing for that model, because some people don´t even notice them.

It becomes more noticeable while watching a movie, on darker colors or backgrounds.

On hdmi output, everything looks ok. I even tried take a screenshot, but on another computer, the screenshot looks fine.

    Anyone noticed this aswell ?

Hope that means good news for more people (including me and my husband)! Looks like you ordered yours less than 2 hours before we ordered ours.

I haven't seen anyone who ordered Indigo before the 29th not get a build email yet. Lots of posts though, I could have missed it.

As always, notebookcheck has a very good, if poorly translated, review. I actually like the palmrest, though. Even though I don't like how it attract fingerprints and such, its smooth and rounded surface makes it a great palmrest, IMO.

By the way, DPC latency issues will be greatly reduced if you install the newest realtek driver available from realtek website.

Also, if you feel that CW screen has poor colors, make sure to disable color mode in VAIO control center. I feel that this also applies for some display models, as well.

"The cards on woot.com are for desktops. If you notice on Wikipedia it shows pictures of an ExpressCard 34 and 54.

If you want a TV tuner for a CW, you would probably have to go with a USB 2.0 version, or the ExpressCard 34."

Ok, thanks. You saved me $25, lol.

manks: Notice the CPUs from CA are even faster (well some),
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P6670 (2.20GHz) [subtract $120.00]
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06GHz) [add $720.00]

    and 4 gigs of ram in 1 stick, of course it's gonna be that price (6GB (4GBx1 + 2GBx1) DDR3-SDRAM-800 [add $180.00] )

    http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=20153&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921666005150

I'd also try to use the 100$ ecoupon from SonyStyle lol

also your review of the Blu-ray is from 1 guy. Not a lot of people. There are defective computer parts. It's the numbers, also you always try ebay.

And of course the SonyStyle.com was cheaper because it was a black Friday/ Cyber Mondy deal. Hence the free blu-ray and video card upgrade, cpu, memory, HDD. So if you can wait and they didn't cancel your order. Then SonyStyle is gonna be awesome to ya :)

For those CW owners with the atheros wireless card (BB version), I found that the internet connection would drop randomly. I went to the sony esupport page and installed an update they had and it hasn't dropped since.

While at the esupport page, I did the graphic card update (g210 & g230), intervideo dvd, bluetooth patch. I would highly recommend that people make sure they check the esupport page regularly, because that stupid Vaio Update program is useless and doesn't work properly.

UPDATE: I want to add to what I had to say about the CW screen quality...one thing I will say that is Greatly lacking is the Contrast is not very good, mainly what I'm referring too is the Blacks are not really very black at all, but more like a dark grey...where I tested this is watching a DVD (T3) and when it is dark (at night) on the movie, the areas that should be black, are not very black. I think part of why this is more obvious to me is because I've now been use to looking at fairly high definition LCD screens and this definitely is not good on this one point. The display is fine as long as your not watch pitch black on the screen. Btw, I did attempt to adjust all the Display/Color/Brightness settings I could find and I still couldn't get it to look as good as I would like. I'm still messing around with the settings, so I'll let you know if I can tweak them any better.

EDIT: A good way to verify the lack of "Blackness" is if you set the desktop on the CW to Solid Black and then hook the laptop up to an LCD, notice the difference between the black. On my Dell 19 inch LCD, the Black if VERY black, but on the CW screen not so, quite a difference. Again this is not a deal breaker for me, I still think it is a good screen, but thought I would point this out. Though I'm not sure you'll be able to find much better on other laptops, haven't checked.

Y'know whats funny? My laptop's been sitting at home since Tuesday. ...TUESDAY! Its over a hundred miles out of reach because datavision only ships to the billing address. School doesn't end for me for another week.

...I'll just chalk this up as a blessing since I'd be too distracted to write papers on the new thing anyway, lol.

Congrats, Sir, on finally getting your CW. Now you can websurf with the best of'em!! :D

Speaking of which, is it possible to get all the information I have saved on my Google Chrome browser to my new computer, all my bookmarks and maybe even the passwords? The latter I'm not too worried about.

Also, could we maybe compile a list of drivers and other updates we could choose to apply to the CW?

EDIT: I seem to have this problem of getting computers (used normally) that run fine when I get them, but then slow down over (a short period of) time. Virtual memory runs low (whatever that is) and stuff. ...How do I avoid this with my CW?

Congrats! My fiance just got hers about an hour ago. Too bad I'm not there to set it up correctly for her. She started it up and I was finally able to walk her through connecting to the wireless. I'll play with it later tonight and burn those DVD recovery disks. Hopefully she doesn't get a virus before then lol.

Speaking of virus's...I wonder what kind of antivirus software I should install on it. I can get McAfee or Symantec for free through the Army. But maybe I could go with the new Microsoft one, it may use less system resources. Any thoughts?

This is what I use, and it works awesome! On the old computer, go to http://www.xmarks.com and install the Xmarks for Chrome addon. You'll create an account. Then have it upload all of your favorites and probably even your passwords to it's server. Then install Xmarks on your new computer in the new browser. Login and it will download all of your favorites and passwords. I love this. I have it on my work computer and home computer. Add a favorite at work, it's there on my home computer. Unfortunately for my home computer, Firefox crashes constantly so I have to use IE8, and with the IE8 one, my passwords won't sync. Plus, I just hate IE. Once I eventually get my CW and get it setup, I'll probably reformat my desktop. I just did a month or so ago so I don't feel like doing it again right now.

Sorry for posting twice in a row, just find it easier when I'm replying to more than one person! :)

Should only take a day or two. I got a production e-mail on the 1st, and a shipment e-mail on the 3rd. So 2 days for me.

Lucky you, ordered the 27th and it's going into production. I ordered mine that night, so maybe I'll get my e-mail in a few days. But probably not...can always hope though!

    EDIT:

OMG my shipping date finally updated under the order information!

    Order Status :processing

    Estimated Ship Date:12/17/2009

That's like 12 days sooner than I had thought.

NOrmally, the favourites and bookmarks are stored as shortcuts in a directory...! In chrome infact you can go to settings, bookmark manager and export book marks...! and then just copy over the html file to your new system or email it to your self or something...and then import them...! should work...!

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread for a while and want to get a CW. I want to get one from jr.com with the P7450 and g230. I have a question though. Which is better: p8700 with the g210 or the p7450 with the g230? Thanks!

That's easy enough. Haven't used Chrome myself, cept for maybe a few minutes here and there.

I still prefer Xmarks, since I'll still use my desktop and still be on the internet all day at work. So just nice to have everything synced.

That is great...Hopefully I will get mine next week...

I also hope that you will get the production mail in next 6 hours ( That is the time difference between our orders :)

To me it seems they are slow in dending the production build email. Your laptop may already be in production but you get notified pretty late. The shipping confirmation is fast :)

Just got my sony CW laptop.... I never expect it to arrive today because the shipment date indicated in the receipt said it will be shipped on Dec. 11 and i expect it to arrive in 5-7 days... Then surprisingly FedEx just knock on the door :D

So far that hasn't worked with our order.
Sahadewa got a production email earlier today. The laptop is the same color and pretty much the same specs and the order was placed less than 2 hours before ours, yet we haven't received a production email yet. :(
