did you get an October estimate on the email confirming payment? Mine was for some time in the last week of September but I'm really hoping it magically comes sooner!

Don't purchase a skin from the E series and expect it to fit the F series. My husband has the F and my pink skin doesn't fit

Has anyone done the recovery disk option? My Vaio EC series is stuck at 100% for over a hour and still on Disk 1. Hopefully, it'll be done as I'm leaving it on. However, I would think burning and checking the disk would be faster.

No dispatch email or update on the site. Looks like mine isn't going out today. How about you, ian80 and hshiwani?

any idea??? help needed
hi, I have an VPCEB1Z1E, Win7 home original, which worked well until ...one day. I was using skype and I removed a pendrive from usb. The internal microphone stopped working and I couldn't start it. I updated the soundcard drivers, delete and reinstall them, I tried to reinstall from scratch the system, everything without success. Sound card should be OK as long as external microphone works well.

Just thought I might post an update to the Vaio EB,
1. I think the ATHEROS WiFi card has some issues with the computer going to sleep, provides only limited connectivity after waking up.
2. The Vaio brightness controls are really annoying. After waking from a sleep, the brightness control does not seem to work.. -
-
Edit: ignore that, I ordered it at 7:51, can't see the time of dispatch anywhere on the page.. -
We are meant to get a tracking number, I'm guessing its via email... -
-
-
-
Okay, maybe not tomorrow -
Edit: forum search says the laptops are manufactured in Japan or China, moved to Germany or Holland and then shipped from there. -
-
-
Wish we had a tracking number now. -
do they absolutely work fine.

And no really, think about it from a corporate point of view, it is extremely expensive to live in Japan. I doubt they would do too much manufacturing there. China on the other hand, workers there could be paid around 100-200 dollars A MONTH to do the work. Huge cost reduction. Just wait and see. -
Anyway, I just phoned sony asking me for a tracking number, and they gave me it but said it's not working yet because they only submitted the details to UPS a couple of hours ago, and that I should try the number again in a few hours, and if it's still not working, to call UPS. At least I've got a number now though.
Edit: Tracking number is now working, says it's on time for tomorrow, but still in NL at the moment. -
Hi everyone,
it is my first post on this forum
I bought a VPCEB27 (i3-350, HD5650, 1920*1080,4gb ram, 500gb hdd) last saturday and was happy with it. last night I discovered the high pitch noise which was really annoying, so I had to disable CPU C3/C6 on bios, ended with with a noisy fan. Does anyone has any solution to this??
As for the place of manufacturing, I beileve it's made in China (apparently by Foxconn), that's definitely the case in Asia(I live in Hong Kong, and is likely to be the same for the rest of the world -

Plus, it's nice to know what day it's out for delivery so I or someone in my family doesn't have to stay at home all day for 5 days to take delivery of the thing.. -
-
Well this little guy has been fine. No signs of wear or tear yet since I got it 2 months ago. Sony's build quality is very good from what I can see so far. Loving this laptop
Also, I'm sorry to hear everyone's problems with the high-pitched noises. I guess I must be very lucky as mine hasn't got that problem at all. -
Also, In case anyone was interested, Foxconn (who make most Sony, Apple, Lenovo and the other big companies computers) with their 500k worker factory in Shenzhen, China, have to pay their employees a minimum of USD$162 a month.

I managed to get the CPU/GPU to 80/72 degrees once and kick in the maximum "jet engine" fan level.. only managed it once though, and only for a few seconds before the hurricane cooled it!
-
If i'm playing GTA4 on location (reason i bought this) its even more sound then a jet.
Seen it topping out at 82c (cpu) -
but thanks anyway, guess I'll live with it, the whine is getting barely noticeable today
I'm very happy with the laptop, can't believe they only sell it for 8k hkd -
the laptop is......beautiful :')
no whine or annoying fan noisehope yours are the same peat and ian80!
-
70 degrees is the hottest mine has ever got. That's overclocked and playing Crysis on high settings.
Does it run so cool because of the undervolting of the 5650 or that the fan is very efficient or both of these? -
-
-
Don't here a whine, the fan is going atm though because I'm making the recovery discs -
If you have the mains lead in you won't hear a whine, its only when running from the battery I believe, theres a slight whine to the gfs and mine when on battery but its barely audible if the room is quiet and as soon as I start playing music or if the tv is on etc then can't hear a thing.

Ive had an e-series 15", i5, hd 5650 for 2 weeks now.
I try and install battlefield 2 bad company - it worked the first time. WHen i go to open it up again the game is so laggy on the main menu it is unplayable. Counter strikes source is the only other game I have on the pc and it works fine.
Please help
