it's pretty good IMO.. it's bright, sharp, and clear

 

I have the same issue as well, is this a defect or is it the same on every Sony Vaio SR? It doesn't happen all the time, so far i only see if i play games that have moving background.

 

Can someone please please start a thread on "how to do a clean install for an SR"? This will really help those newbies from reading all 76 pages, as of today, of comments. Thanks a bunch!

OH NICE! That could mean mine could ship tomorrow!! That would be awesome as I am dying to play with it and test how it performs versus my current one.

I ordered mine Tuesday... last day of the campus deal.

 

I ordered mine Sunday, and it shipped today as well...of course, I have to add an extra day on for pickup at the Fedex facility, since I'm never home when they come by. Ah well, I'm still getting it a full week before I expected to.

 

yeah, when they say expected ship date 9/23 i thought they were going to ship it on the 9/23, not arrive on 9/23

^^ I was looking for something specifically for the SR. There seem to be one for every model except for this. I guess I'll give that a try.

I have just purchased a SR190 and docking station. I need to get an AC adapter to use with it. I don't see any SR series compatible AC adapters on sonystyle.com. Can someone tell me what model AC adapter comes with the SR190. Can I use the VGP-AC19V21 Stick AC Adapter?

any AC adapter with a output of 19.5V and 4.7A will work

As far as i know, the 300 off deal is over. Someone posted about the campus deal being gone just recently. Which is unfortunate... because i bought about 2000 bucks worth of stuff from sonystyle for close to 1450.

Perhaps you should wait a couple of months for the next round of discounts (the christmas/winter/hannukah/etc. discounts)

 

Nvm my problem is fixed. Just got my vaio today in the mail, fedex. It's is an amazing little thing, and the size is incredible. Its so lightttt compared to my dell 15.4

 

Hmm, so I have been wondering... does anyone know of a decent respectable site that makes laptop sleeves/cases in the US? I'm looking for something... that will have the length point downward toward the ground (I'm not looking for a normal kind of laptop case, I don't do well with those). I'm also trying to look for something kinda nicer, but still within a $50 limit or so. I have been looking at Spire's Dart, but the problem is that the thickness on the SR is .99-1.3", while some of the sleeves I've seen have a thickness limit of 1.25".

What do I doooo augh?


Oh right, I also wanted to mention that I LOVE THE MICROPHONE ON MY SR129E/B! The microphone on this thing has sound record very loud and clearly. I've been doing video calls on MSN with friends, and they have reported that they can hear me very well, and even hear music if I play music very very softly. It'll even pick up like, whispers sometimes. I can sit pretty far away from the laptop and it'll pick up the sound as if I were standing right up to it.

 

I have a Tucano 9 Dot Laptop sleeve, it's pretty nice, I like it a lot.
I had a Sony sleeve, but it was way too small and scratched my laptop.

You can still wear it. Well, the only reason why I want to have something like this is because there's this dude on the bus that I ride on who's like... a strong kleptomaniac. In fact, just today, he almost tried to steal my friends' cell phone right in front of him. It mysteriously.... fell on the floor when he didn't get a good grip on it. He seems to try and threaten me, and almost "acted" like he was gonna take my SR one time. I get paranoid putting it in my backpack too, but the thing is, is that I walk around with a big obvious tote bag for a purse, and a big starry backpack. (So, I wear a lot. xD)

Yeah, I wish there were more bags like that Dart. I kinda need something that cushions the lappy too, as I never do know what to expect, as I do take it to college... I have some unpredictable friends too... obviously.

No, not yet unfortunately. I still need to set down a time to dedicate to calling Sony and asking about the keyboard part. I've had a lot of studying and essays that I've needed done. Oh darn college, always interfering with life. xDD

Sorry, but I'm working on it still. I'm just nervous about calling them, meh. (I always get nervous on the phone, as I only call things if I need to know information.)

Hi guys, I've just got my new SR19Vn silver (it probably looks cheaper than the black one but it seems that no black color is available here in europe) yesterday and it's really a great notebook even if we can find some flex on the right side or on the hinge.

Anyway, I'm new here and I didn't find topic about fisrt charge of the sr19vn's battery. i'm a little bit lost with the care function battery given by sony.
Anyone can help ?

Hey guys after going to frys i realize how much i love my computer even more!
The everything about it is great! keyboard is spread a part, touchpad is big, screen is bright i can work in the outdoors.
Anyway for the battery care function if your going to leave the computer plugged most of the time enable it to 80% or 50%. Since i use the battery a lot during school i enabled the battery care function but i set it to charge at 100% (I could turn it off).

 

Ordered mine on the 14th, I was given a ship date of 9/23. Actually shipped on 9/17. I can't remember if it ever said back ordered at any point, but none of the parts in the order said that individually.

 

So I've been playing around with my SR all day. Has anyone bothered with the ATI control panel adjusting the color correction, saturation or contrast at all? I do some designing and I'm trying to get the colors as accurate as possible.

 

SR200 series is coming. Look on Amazon.com and you'll see them, even one with a T5800 processor.

nevermind, i saw them, they say "blu-ray disc support".. interesting.. and they have vista 64-bit.. so maybe we're gonna start seeing some drivers soon

Wow your shipped way ahead of the estimated date. I doubt mine would be that lucky. My estimated date is all over the place. My SR case has a date of 15th...of September when I ordered on the 17th...I just hope I can get the laptop before my strings of exam (I wouldn't be able to study )

 

Anyone using a docking station with an SR? The vaio sz's were little finicky switching between display modes when they were docked and undocked. I was hoping these newer notebooks with vista would have resolved some of that. Any feedback?

 

Also for anyone using the dock:

Is dual monitor supported using the DVI? I have a 24" dell LCD that I would use.

 

Just ordered my CTO SR this morning, with the fastest shipping option. I hope it doesn't really take them until the 30th to get it out the door!

 

My CTO shipped 3 days after ordering, 6 days before the estimated date.

 

That's very encouraging...I would love to have it by the end of the week.

 

Well it's a slow shipping option, Fedex Ground I think. At least mine, coming from San Diego, is taking a full week to get here. So I wouldn't get too hopeful...better to have a good surprise than a disappointment!

Everyone here said their vaio shipped within 3 days or that it arrived on the estimated shipping date(instead of shipping on that date).

I ordered on the 17th as well, and it got pushed back to the 29th too...

 

I'm guessing that a lot of people ordered on the 15th, since that was when the campus deal ended. At least it's the reason I placed my order that weekend. So probably that's why the delay, just a stock issue.
