Had some time on my hands and this got me curious, so I did some googling with several different keywords, and I can't find your problem mentioned anywhere. :( Maybe someone will have better luck. I searched the boards as well, found a few mentions of 1080p output on the SR but it was all positive and very brief comments.

I'm interested to know if anyone else has had problems using an external monitor? Or if you've had success, what type of monitor are you using? My boyfriend is a graphic designer and I'm in digital photography classes this fall, so we're looking to purchase a good monitor to output my SR480 to (i'm going with the HDMI option.) Suggestions? Cautionary tips? thx.

Once you have your laptop set to output to HDMI only (by cycling through using Fn+F7, open up the Catalyst Control Center. On the left side, look for a category that's something like DTV(HDMI). Expand it and go to "Scaling Options". Adjust the Underscan/Overscan bar until it matches your display.

i know its not a slot load but is the gap suppposed to be that big...to the point where you pretty much push it up everytime you grasp the laptop?

    LOL

And some of you blame me for making complaints.

Demarco05, with your laptop lid up, can you see if your laptop wiggle at all the 4 corners? Mine takes 20 stack of sticky notes to stool on it so it will not rattle.

My DVD drive is loose too. I try to push it all the way and it and will not.

1 or maybe 2 dead pixel?

You definately got a water mellon, not just a lemon.

Return it. I wonder if you return to JR or to Sony?

My chinese friend in China, you need quality control dude.

Well, you know Sony will put the drivers for the Window 7 soon right? I mean why would they give us W7 as mail in if they dont do it.

Some of you are in so rush to install W7. What are the main reasons why is so much better than Vista?

Are you in USA? If yes then you're soo lucky! In my country we have Vaio models that are 2 y.old selling at $3500!!! (Similar configuration to mine) And no official Sony Support/Repair Center...

You should give a call. And look for possible options.

I'd return it... mine is very flush w/ no gap. And mine is not loose, rattle or move when touched.

The build quality on mine is great. I bought mine from sonystyle.

I just called Sony. They are sending me a 6 pack of rubber feet.

I tell them about quality control. Of course they say Sony make the best computer and they are all properly checked by technician.

You might want to look at another thread here about how to install Window 7. For me I will just wait.

No, there shouldn't be that big gap.
However if you push towards the drive it would go inside. That's ok.

Probably because your ATI is set in optimal battery life mode, to change this go to your current power setting and change it to optimal performance in the advance power setting thing :D

I have look at the back of it. I have laid it on many flat surface and it always act this way.

I think this lemon I got probably doesnt have a even surface. Anyhow Sony is sending me 6 pack of rubber to try each one of them out to level things out.

Its going to be OK I guess.
