    Thanks, Captain -_-
Could't find a possibility to disable THIS particular gesture there (maybe cause of some old drivers installed). Is it 100% possible to disable it?

I tried to keep a constant light pressure on the frame and for now it seems like it worked. But i think it's more of a temporary fix. A click of glue should do it, but i don't have the guts to do it and it also might infect your warranty. Ultimately the only solution to call sony and bring it in for a repair...

I saw that on Microsoft Canada and I thought it was some kind of bug, because the equivalent on Microsoft US is the 4GB/128GB version. I really don't want to buy the current model of VAIO Pro as it's way too buggy for my taste, but I would have jumped on this otherwise, so well done!

Here's to hoping that I actually receive the upgraded version and not the base model..curious now to see what's in the box. I tried the base for a few days and returned it because of the multi-lingual keyboard. It didn't have any WIFI issues, no fan issues, nothing that others have reported so far. Hopeful this will be a good experience as my Z has a cracked screen. Best of luck.

there are others with this problem? is a common problem at all?. because I can still ask for replacement to sony, but I would avoid that I get the same problem. The detachment of the frame is light, but do not know if in the future this can cause problems. Thank you.

P.S. Sorry for the bad language , I helped with google translate.

What the...?! The same problem with the Xperia Z, that's simply hilarious!
But, have you noticed this thing as soon as the notebook arrived, or only after days?

If I add the Linux problem, and if that problem with glue is common, then I honestly think I will reconsider buying it...I had a bad experience with the Xperia Z back cover and I do not wish to repeat it :-|
On the other hand I'm also considering the Vaio Fit multi-flip notebook...interesting, cxcept that it really costs a lot for my financial possibilities

Yeah out of stock and they don't have any idea when more will come. Also not available at retail stores. Since its a different model number, no price matching either. Very lucky for those who got it.

I definitely don't want to make a dual boot or a VM with Linux because I already have one on my primary (gaming) notebook. What I hoped I could have done with this Vaio Pro was simply installing Linux as the only and primary OS on the notebook, strarting at boot :(

Anyway, apart from Linux, what could really make me give up the purchase is that glue problem, if it turns out to be a very common problem...

Hey you guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm looking for a new laptop seeing as how my old Dell XPS 1330 died recently and I really like the look of the SVP1321C5E. I'm thinking of going for this configuration (and upgrading the ram and SSD down the line), which comes out at around £770:

    Intel® CoreTM i3-4010U, 1.7GHz
    Windows 8
    128 GB SATA Flash SSD
    4 GB 1600 MT/s DDR3L-SDRAM
    33.7 cm LED, 1920x1080
Battery life up to 7 hours

I've got a few questions though.

    (1) Is there any real difference between the standard black version and the 'carbon' version?

    (2) Is it worth going for the i5 processor? It's about £70 more but I can't make up my mind.

    (3) In general, is it a good time to be buying one of these or are we about to see them go EOL and be surpassed by a new range anytime soon?

    Thanks guys.

Don't want to be unpleasant but it's annoying me, when the same questions are being asked over and over again. We discussed every of your question before in this topic, even not so long ago - just few pages before. Please stop asking, start reading what other people wrote in this topic and think like a man, not like a 7 years old child.

This topic should have about 70 pages - but no, let's discus the same problems over and over again.

Actually I think you're the one acting "like a 7 year old child". What does it matter to you if I'm asking questions that have been answered before in the thread? If there are people willing to answer my questions then there are people willing to answer my questions. It shouldn't affect you either way. If you don't want to answer them just ignore them.

Secondly, you are aware the thread is hundreds of pages long at this point? I don't have time to read it all and I doubt doing searches would be effective because I have a few different questions, some of which are fairly unique (e.g. the question about if 'now' is a good time to buy is only relevant to now, not necessarily weeks ago the last time the question was asked).

What does it matter to me ? Actually I answered to this questions several times and am not gonna repeat it forever especially for someone who admit that he didn't even try to search some info in this topic.

Is it a good time to buy ? You think someone is a fortuneteller ? and how can you know when was the last time this question was asked if you didn't read this topic?

Whatever, dont't want to argue with you, just don't like lazy people.

Btw if anyone is interested in an awesome laptop you all should check out the Clevo W230ST.

Its kinda like the ultimate vaio z "a bit fat edition".

However the laptop is alot thinner and smaller then you may expect looking at the photos. I gave my Vaio Pro 13 to my wife and am now using this Clevo and this thing is amazing!!!

It runs VM's like a champ
It plays almost every single game on max settings
Its quite small, sure its 1lb heavier then the Vaio Z but that 1LB packs ONE hell of a punch.

    Seriously.... Quad Core i7 4th gen + 16 gigs of ram + GTX765M + 2x MSata slots + 1 Sata slot = in a 13 inch 4lb package is quite amazing.

Not only that but it comes out cheaper then a Vaio Pro 13.

you all should seriously check it out, coming from a Vaio Z i could not find anything like the 2010 edition and this laptop is the closest thing i can so far find.

Its everything in a slightly plump Z. And really.... its not NEARLY as think or fat as the photos suggest.

The Frame around the Screen is not glued properly. mine is not only loose at the bottom of the frame. I got to take care to hold de frame while i open the device, else the frame looses hold and u can see inside the iaptop ^^

But if you want to buy one, dont worry about that. It is the best Laptop around. This one is a warranty issue and if it would hit alot of customers, you would probably read ALOT more about that here.

Moreover if think this is a issue ONLY with the nontouch version, please correct me if you someone of you experienced it woth a touch one.

Fantastic, because I'm -in fact- considering to buy a non-touch version. :-|

Just a couple of things: does this problem appear only after some time or is immediately recognizable? And is still so common?

Anyway, I honestly DON'T WANT to even think about a possible replacement after bought...I really don't have time for this, damn! :(

Cba with this forum/thread. People are so unhelpful and mean spirit (Scrooge or Darth Vader-like one might say). I will go to another forum and ask my kind-hearted bretherens there for some help, which I am not getting here, because you people are mean-spirited, as I said before, in the brackets previously (above).

    Goodnight and good luck.

Can't help as touch-wood it has not happened here
Have you checked in device manager to see if anything has jumped out? I don't actually know what driver controls it but I know under Human Interface Devices is an entry there for HID-compliant touch screen
    Is that still there?

This problem I have found on other vaio in stores, I immediately presented, do not send it Back away under warranty because I think that even if it arrives intact when using the frame is dissected equally.
The touch version does not have the frame, so there can not be such a minor fault
    Sorry for the bad translation.

Got damn it I like this laptop a lot but I have only had it for one month and it already has scratches on the lid. I keep it in a solid laptop bookbag and don't understand why the lid is so prone to scratches. I have the silver version and I am going to see if I can take it back for an exchange. Also I cannot find any cases for these things. Macs have a million variants of plastic cases.

I had same problem. Called service they offered me replacement or refund. I needed laptop so i end up gluing it. Next day I noticed bottom has same thing to. So I glued it too. After paying a lot of money Laptop falling apart. Sony really needs to start thinking it's quality level. So people who wants to order this laptop also needs to go amazon order strong not dripping glue too..

I am going to return my Vaio Pro 13. Wifi is driving me nuts, always disconnects after idle for a while, same coming from sleep. Only way to connect is shut down. Question is, does it make any sense to ask for a replacement? Is the new one going to be different? Or get refund and go for Yoga 2 Pro.

I had the issue with the display frame on my Vaio S i had before.
That was the only reason deciding for the Pro touch model and against the non-touch...
Because I was afraid the Pro could have the same problem.
Now I'm reading about the same issue with the Pro so my decision was not the worst.
Not the first Vaio with this problem..... :(

The behaviour you are describing should be fixable via driver power management settings (unitick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the device manager). Are you on the latest drivers? As far as your second question goes - no - the new one will be the same.

Yes, I'm on latest drivers and unticked the save power option. Still the same. Anyway, called Sony today, getting the replacement. If there is no improvement, then I'll go for Yoga 2 Pro.
